Oddly enough, you've just given me the (simple) idea to start my own charity foundation! (No, you can't have any charity.)

But I need it.
I would use my own skills and talents to make gold and credits, but Hallifax has no need of particle physics.

Casilu, returning to the forums was worth it for your posts alone.

Of course Hallifax needs particle physics! Who else would?
(Boy, I am just brimming over with a quantum mechanics skillset idea now.)

Does Lusternia even have Calc yet? I CAN'T WORK UNDER THESE CONDITIONS! WHERE IS THAT KID WITH MY LATTE!? HE'S NOT COMING, IS HE!?
(That should totally be our monks.)

I'm still hoping for Capoeira or Iaijutsu-based monks. But then that'd make monks cool, and we can't have that.

The latter of those two should go to warriors, if anything. Giving monks swords to do forms with is just... asking for issues with blurred lines between warriors and monks.
The former would be more fun if it was a bard/monk fusion guild.

Addictions
excessive use of a substance or item creates an addiction. You must seek the assistance of a healer to remove an addiction or face withdrawal effects. Effects go from twitching, shudders, instanity, and in rare cases, death.

What kind of things would be included in this? Herbs? Potions? Alcohol?
Sakr2010-10-14 00:21:05
Herbs, alcohol, certain potions maybe (love potion for example)? Certain foods?

In that case, no thank you. I don't need to come back from hunting or influencing and having to find a healer or start shivering or what-have-you. Having penalties for taking a break from hunting/influencing/what-have-you shouldn't really be punished.

I have a rough sketch of an adaption of iaijutsu as a monk secondary. Maybe I'll dust it off sometime and post to the ideas forum (though I fear it'll bring out the monk forum-ragers again).
Aerotan2010-10-14 07:42:14
Capoeira might do well as a Gaudiguchi spec. I'm still holding out for Tessen for the Hallifax monks.
Gleip2010-10-14 08:15:30
Perhaps Iaijutsu could be another weapon specc or a warrior tertiary? It certainly looks awesome. Tessenjutsu would fit Hallifax greatly as well, but the problem with a capoeira monk specc is that capoeira is unarmed.
Aerotan2010-10-14 10:11:27
Arguably, one could use the "iron bangle" approach: bangles wrapped around the wrist/ankle to reduce the impact area, thereby increasing force. I think the larger problem would be that Capoeira is, from what I've seen, rather kick-intensive.
In an unrelated tangent:
Can Trademasters get a message when their designs are approved/rejected? You could even use the built-in system to send the actual message: have it send whatever was in the comment section after rejection.

Or at least put it the clan/cartel's log (and in the case of city/commune cartels let us read those logs).

This is a serious idea. Creating monk katas can be exhaustive, especially if you want the same "kata" to attack different body parts. For example, nekotai kaiga mod will add bleeding if aimed at limbs. This potentially means that I have to create four kata progressions, one for each limb (lleg, rleg, llarm, rarm) for each step of momentum. Yeah, that would be 20 separate katas! Imagine they keybindings.
Would love to have the ability to specify a general area of the body and have randomization between limbs. For example, ka kick legs left would randomize whether my left leg kicks lleg or rleg. This would save me from needing two separate katas to aim for rleg and lleg. For the sake of discussion, here are the groups of bodyparts (i.e. gut, chest, head excluded) from the combat skillset:

Would it really help? Sometimes you'll want to target the left leg, because your warrior buddy targetted it. And sometimes you want to target the right leg, because left was already broken or whatever. So you would need the two original single limb targetting forms anyway.
