That's my point, though. The directory/search feature is more needed for aethershops because without that, you had to hop around a lot more.

There's always going to be a much much wider selection available at the Aetherplex, which still gives it an advantage over organization shops. I mean, there are way, way more aethershops than there are shops in your city/commune, simply because one has a limit on how many shops there can be, and the other doesn't. It would increase business at city shops, which is great for those people who can't shell out all that cash to buy an aethershop, but it wouldn't completely remove business from the shops at the Aetherplex. It's just, with the new search feature added in so you can check prices so quickly at the Aetherplex, I find myself rarely, if ever, checking shops around the city for things. Which is a shame, really!

I'm going with Iasmos on this one.

In Achaea, I remember entering some of the cities a long time ago to find a manual or tome in the city center, with listings of all of the shops that are present in the city, where to find them, and what specialty wares they sell.

Why not do the same here? Have a tome on a pedestal, and in the tome list the shops that exist in that particular commune or city, and ask the shopkeepers to give a few words in description about what wares they have:

For example, i would imagine Ssaliss to have in such a tome:
Enchantments and Alchemy or Refills.

or Talan to have:
Herbs and General Wares.

Or guild shops to be denoted as such.

So basically you'd open the tome and it would say something like:

Welcome to (Commune or City)

Please turn to page 2 for points of interest (with a brief description of each of them)
Please turn to page 4? for a list of shops and directions to get to them.

You turn to page 2:
Blah blah blah:
---- blah blah blah was founded in blah blah time for blah blah purpose and currently resides as the cultural blah blah blah

You turn to page 4?
Magical store:
Found: nw ne n ne nw u in
Primary specialty:
--Enchantments
Secondary specialty:
--Recharges

Herbs store:
Found: nw ne n ne ne u in
Primary specialty:
--Herbs
Secondary specialty:
--Refills

it's a simple thing that can be done, give some book binders some more work to do as well.

Yes? No? Why not?

Because no one will keep it up to date.

Or if you're thinking of something that keeps itself up to date, that's more or less what's been suggested, though made far, far harder to implement.
Sakr2010-10-17 21:15:50
no, i'm suggesting someone is delegated to keep it up to date. Make it someone in the ministry of trade maybe? have them delegate it to an aide. If nobody wants to keep it updated, then why should the admin do it for them if there is a lack of interest in the first part?

Two problems with that: Shops are basically the Chancellor's job. And some people are useless as Chancellor. One could just argue to replace the Lame Duck, but some of those are notoriously difficult to get ousted.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Leadership do work? You crazy.

I probably do more paperwork than almost anyone and even I think that's insane to expect anyone to do.

Idea: Make Favours not go over trans for skills where it could matter (Illusions, environment, etc).

Second this. It's annoying being unable to dispel the illusions of people who constantly have TFs or some such quite a lot.

Would definitely appreciate that, but I bet the folks who have active gods who actively work their offerings log might feel very differently.

Really? Make it part of owning a shop in the city. Give shop keepers the space and let them add it in. Any intelligent keeper who wants more sales is going to do it.
Lendren2010-10-18 00:22:15
And by that reasoning, CHELP TRADES is always current, up to date, and useful. And it's about a tenth as complex.

Not saying it shouldn't affect all skills, just ones like Illusions and it's specs. Because it makes it exceedingly difficult to dispel programmed illusions they've put up even at Trans.

Yeah, Mirami and me went through about thirty or forty total tries to get one just yesterday. It was really ridiculous, both of snapping our fingers over and over like we were beatniks or something.

double due to a crappy connection

Any chance we can turn HELP CALENDAR into just CALENDAR? I happen to be very lazy and dislike typing out help calendar.
Everiine2010-10-18 05:53:44
Really now? You'll type out the 8 letter word, but the 4 letter word is too much? I'm confused...
Sakr2010-10-18 08:43:14
setalias calender
Help calender

problem solved.

Can bookbinders create note-pads, for us to write in without having to sit down and write on a desk? For notes of what we see around us and what not..

i also have two simple ideas for battlechess:
This was something I placed a month back, wasn't a bug, was told to go to the guild envoy, but this thing is what's making the game of battlechess into something of a free-for-all instead of chess. Movement doesn't make chess chess, but the rules behind it does too. I understand that battlechess is different than chess as well, but this stopped me from playing battlechess when the opposite player wants to be a censor.gif.

A king was placed into a check that would have mean't game over, but he killed a piece that also placed him into check, which shoul d be illegal. Is it possible that if a person was placed into check, it's announced on chesschat? And so the king cannot intentionally place himself into another check as well? It ruins the game of chess or battlechess from that to a free-for-all.

Other battlechess idea:
Could the bugs be fixed please?
