Took this from Clan Milkweed:
Notice the commodity cost of something like beds or hammocks, compared to fighting rings, which have less commodities but same amount of months, or couches being less commodities, but more months, or even benches.

(table of awesome)

Milkweed has a number of private designs that are awesome like that.

Ok, pay attention to the commodity cost, and the total amount of months it would last? To pay 400 commodities to make a bed, and have it last less time than a couch is telling me that if I want these things, with no repair skill, it will be cheaper in the long run to get a statis gem, instead of having a statis gem be an option.

In theory, "utility" is also a factor. If any artisan crafts were really useful, that might be more convincing as an argument. But at least a bed does something (hastens recovery of endurance/tiredness) while a couch is purely decorative.

I'm of two minds about a repair skill. On the one hand, it might encourage people to buy furniture who otherwise won't. On the other, it would cannibalize the vast majority of our already-meager sales, and most people expect you won't charge profit on repair, so you're essentially giving away your entire trade. The net result would probably be for the worse for the trade as a whole. But it's a close thing.

In the end I conclude, furniture is, in real life, far more repairable and far more lasting than clothing, books, even some kinds of jewelry, and therefore in the game it should be the same. But then, in real life, wood doesn't cost more than diamonds, and watches don't use almost seven times as much material as bracelets, and beds don't use up an entire year's timber production for an entire forest. So how much does real life really apply?

But Estarra said no repair skill, no recovery of comms from deconstruction, (effectively) no new skills or patterns, and there will be no reconsideration of these decisions; so there's only one way left to get an upgrade to your tradeskill. FORGET ARTISAN; SKILLCHOICE LIST. Woe be unto you if you, like me, already invested millions into cartels before you discovered this.

I dropped Jewelry willingly to go into artisan, knowing that I may not make as much money as before. I'm saving up to make that cartel so i could invest my own designs for L'ianmor. I even got a pantograph so I could better fit more furniture into the rooms. There are very few active artisans in Glomdoring as well, so that influenced the choice to become the guild's only artisan too...

edit:
guess I'll be investing the credits from elite each month to buy a statis gem.

Targeting gems should not trigger dodging.

Pleeasee pleeease can we make it so you can read a sorcelglass while it's for sale in a shop. I wanna be able to see what I'm buying! sad.gif Just the name and description of the scroll it's written on is no help at all.

You take that nonsense elsewhere. What you suggest would actually benefit bookbinders, and we can't have any of those hooligans benefiting from their trade.

Yeah, those jerks.

We should make books un-readable too.

Could people not be told who puts a thoughtstealer on them? I understand if it's another illusionist, but I don't think regular people should be able to know. It is fun to use, but there are things, with practically the same use, but better. Ribbachi, stealth eavesdrop, and possibly others. With stolen thoughts they are both told it's on them, and who put it on them.
Casilu2010-10-23 20:57:04
Should just nerf Ribbachi.

Eavesdrop is stoppable, and Ribbachi/Tracker pets are killable. Stolenthoughts, even knowing you have it, is not so easily removed by most of the population.

How is it stoppable? Blue? That also stops stolen thoughts. Ribbachi/Tracker pets I believe can be hidden from view, so you have to remember to actually look for them. If you don't remember and someone talks, you don't know to tell them to shut up. Stolen thoughts: you both know you have it on you and from who. Simply have to remind people to shut up.

Set highlights for ribbachi and tracker pets. Or get good at noticing them.

Ribbachi can be hidden. Sometimes, Arix likes to send one to the Matrix every couple of minutes.
Mirami2010-10-24 05:17:16
Can't ribbachi also be two-shotted?
Sakr2010-10-24 19:14:19
Make the high-five emote require consent. Sometimes I don't want to high-five or get high-five'd.

If you don't crit at all, it would be like 5/6 hits. Well, for me, anyway.

Also: pet, pat, handshake, hug, snuggle, pounce, glomp, romp, sniff, lick, kiss, deepkiss, tenderkiss.

EDIT: Okay, forget tenderkiss. I'm always up for some non-consensual tenderkissing.
