Dunno if it is too much to ask... BUT can you add a toggle to FIRSTAID to gag the line:

and/or adding it to CONFIG COLOR? I'd love to have the options of making this part more or less visible. MORE visible if I want to start memorizing cures and such. LESS if I want that total fantasy immersion experience. Just a thought.

That's likely because if it was actually cured by something (systemwise) it'd end up curing it all the time, which would be rather detrimental to a majority of the users.

Yeah the case where you have the skill, you are locked, you have power, and you use firstaid is not some common use case so it is not a big deal at all.

Adding my raves to the list, since this is great. I've definitely introduced friends to the game who've taken one look at the curing and decided it's too complicated. This should help ease people into it nicely, and I'll definitely enjoy it (since I've only got some of the curing down).

This firstaid thing is AWESOME. It really is going to let novices be more involved in combat and it is going to make them take more chances, I think, since they have this to fall back on! Kudos. I love it!

Why are people expecting this to be an in-house healing system that will acocunt for everything? It's meant to help people more easily integrate into combat, especially 'noobs'. If you want full blown systems there are plenty provided.

Yes... somewhat'ish. Nothing for the Mac platform (specifically). You then get into the whole sticky situation of having to run WINE (and then finding the version which is most compatible with the MUD client and script). Ethy's was slow as hell... Treant didn't jive. And imagine paying $$$ credits to find out a system doesn't work? This means having to run Boot Camp... I don't' even want to hear that I shouldn't be playing an "internet-based" game on a Mac. Us pure Mac people have been left with nearly any other option other than to ignore advanced bashing, raids, defending, revolts, etc. And you know how well that looks when you have to "choose" to abstain from participating... gets a whole people irate with you (especially the more visible you are within an organization). It is frustrating as anything that I cannot play the game as intended because I don't have one of those plenty provided, full blown systems out there that don't quite exist for Mac's. Begging someone to custom write a system for $$$ or learning to code myself shouldn't be the only options to have ground level participation. So yes, I do need an in-house healing system that will account for everything, or at least until there is a public system (either open-source or pay-to-play) for Mudlet.
PS. Not to mention those of us who have to rely on Nexus because we are on travel OR because our home computers are sunk for whatever reason.

You do have ground level participation now. First Aid is designed to be that. It is not designed and should not be designed to be an in game Treant. The Coders have far more important things to do than making sure that the few Mac users have a full healing system. No one said that firstaid should function as a 'full-blown healing system', only that it should work to some degree in any situation (ie in sap, choke, etc.) Which is pretty reasonable. Just code in a one-second delay between each automated command. It's far-far-far from perfect, but it'll certainly cure... maybe fast enough for you to get away, but probably not.

Never argued that it should be a full-blown Treant; that being said, I would like it to heal most of the afflictions out there (maybe not all the locks). Just to have something for ground level participation. And, as we all know, the bar is set pretty high (both ingame and personal skill) for players to enter the fray of combat. I can now participate without being owned within the first few seconds.
Besides, didn't this come out of that whole forum survey for "streamlining combat" and providing better support for new users (and, I suppose unsupported players) an entrance into combat? Wasn't that voted by players through the forums? So, it may not address your personal needs, but I think it will go a loooonnnng way to help many of us (even those who are well beyond the newbie stage).

It sounds like the two of you are practically agreeing and just don't realize it. This system already allows for ground level participation, and it already heals most of the afflictions out there, including most of the locks.
I think Gregori was addressing his point at people asking for it to take healing and other things into account. It shouldn't be designed to do that. If you want advanced healing, find a way to get it. For example, you mentioned several options to get more advanced healing. Use Windows, go through Wine or Boot Camp, learn to code your own system based on work in Mudlet, etc.. Everyone seems to be agreeing that if you want something advanced, you should have to put in the work to get something advanced. This system is absolutely awesome for people who just want ground level participation and don't need incredibly advanced systems.

I love the idea, but I agree that excess coding time shouldn't be placed into this to account for every minor situation. I'm not talking about such situations as locks and aeon; those are supposedly already dealt with, and I would suggest that they be dealt with (mostly it's minor logic in the first, a bit more complex for the second). Once you add in more qualifiers and options, especially with things not available to everyone such as Healing, I think it's getting beyond what's needed at this point. It heals in the methods that are available to everyone: standard cures of herbs, potions, etc., plus gedulah/green (and cleansing? I didn't test that part too much) to account for locks.

I'd say that if you combine firstaid with a sipper, some highlights, keybindings and aliases on nexus, you'll be good to participate in pretty much everything. Not top notch, but still.

I would personally prefer if it didn't use power-cures at all (since those are kind of a hallmark of higher-level comat, at least in my eyes), but eh, I'll deal.
