I don't completely agree with Shaddus's reasoning here, but I can see what he's getting at and where he's getting it. On the other hand, I don't like how Tekora is responding at all. After reading through the last few pages, his posts seem to me to be overly reactive (suspicious of Shaddus because Shaddus was suspicious of him, resorting to intimidation when called out), not to mention the really weird 'oh, I was joking and now I'm serious' statement. The combination just feels scummy to me.

I'm not really familiar with the SG world aside from the awesome movie. Is this Carson dude important?

Carson died in the third season of the series. Then returned as a clone for the next season or two since fans threw a fit. Wasn't originally a main character, but became one. He's one of Atlantis's staff members but not generally an out-there-exploring type squad member. He's a geneticist and Atlantis's chief medical officer. Generally considered bright, well grounded, if a bit timid.

So either my targeted ability isn't certain, Xavius is inherently protected, or someone protected him.
