Seemed like the room aeon went through an illusion and quicksilver too.
It goes through shields too.
Doman2010-02-27 04:13:44
all room attacks go through shields
Razenth2010-02-27 05:21:03
It shouldn't go through quicksilver.

It's generally considered that, well, godrealm aethermobs fairly suck compared to the more general critters (gargantuans, elementals, dragons, tendrils, etc.) and so the essence accumulating mechanic of the algontherines (which I adore) is getting wasted. Could it either be 1) made so that we can offer the accumulated essence by another module addition (rather than depending on docking at the godrealms which gets tedious when interrupting a groove) or 2) add a new ability in Aethercraft that lets a person locked on the energy collector to imbue the essence into a thing (think, esteem needles) for later offering use. Pretty please?

And it seems someone already figured out a way to abuse the slivven. There was someone hunting them on a ship, I think just waiting on them to keep multiplying and slowly killing extras to get ahead in points for the great hunt. I'd name the person, but I only heard about it on a clan channel and didn't pay enough attention to remember who it was.

I thought slivven only popped once per hit by an aethermob, and didn't actually multiply?

Afraid they do multiply. I know we had a module locked and couldn't get it open recently... when we opened, there were 13 of them... by the time it was cleared, we had 20 bodies.

Not sure why this is considered abuse.
Doman2010-02-27 06:27:35
It's not quite abuse, but it's pretty grey area

Well, consider the Harmony challenge except you can influence guards for points. It's like that, except it doesn't cost your organisation any power/gold.

It is not abuse that someone gets an endless supply of creatures to kill for the great hunt while others have to go through the trouble to go to other planes or run about, hunting creatures? Uhhh, okay.

I'm on slivven duty, which I'm not minding too much because it is a fun crew and we're trying to make some more demis this weekend. BUT it would be nice if there were some benefit for the person who gets stuck hunting them. Sell for gold, (or karma, which is severely lacking in aspace), or up the experience for killing, something. They're doing their job, as, if nothing else, they are a delightful conversation piece, but yeah. This is definitely the new crappy job.
The other changes look good. Many thanks for reducing the chance for them to spawn on the chair, we're actually able to train a new pilot with minimum terror, so that is nice. Found vortexes with no problem. Thanks much for responding to feedback.

Anyways, back to the topic at hand. First vortex we spawned lasted for roughly 1-1.5 hours, which was okay... we moved to a new area and got another relatively quickly. All in all, no complaints there. Karibideans are a pain, and they seem to spawn relatively early on.. though we got a total of 3 or 4 in roughly 3.5 hours worth of hunting, and they add a bit of fun to the game, though normally after that we need to pause for a bit because we're swarmed with slivven. Slivven spawn rate seems to have been reduced after my last post, because I noticed we weren't getting as many from single enemies that we pulled in.... roughly a 50% chance. Still would be nice to have a module that allows for slivven hunters to gain ahunt exp, but so far it's working out fine.
Rodngar2010-02-27 07:55:44
Just make slivvens worth ahunt exp, like I've been saying for a while. As a way to prevent farming them, make them stronger in groups/make them merge in to something very dangerous upon reaching a critical mass amount. Granted, I'm sure they're already a pain in the ass with groups, so that doesn't sound like it is needed. Slivven duty is the worst job now, but probably the most essential - throw them a bone.

Make them turn into an smob. That would be hilarious.

This. Yes. Please. It takes longer to go turn in the essence for bashing aetherspace than it takes to actually get the stuff. Even if you had to lower how much you got per kill in order to balance the rate of generation, -please- allow it to be imbued into an item or something.

Oh, you know what would be really awesome? If everybody on the ship could see when a turret gets a crit. <,<
