That would be awesome.

It's generally considered that, well, godrealm aethermobs fairly suck compared to the more general critters (gargantuans, elementals, dragons, tendrils, etc.) and so the essence accumulating mechanic of the algontherines (which I adore) is getting wasted. Could it either be 1) made so that we can offer the accumulated essence by another module addition (rather than depending on docking at the godrealms which gets tedious when interrupting a groove) or 2) add a new ability in Aethercraft that lets a person locked on the energy collector to imbue the essence into a thing (think, esteem needles) for later offering use. Pretty please?
Plz?

I'd love to be able to kill these slivvens while being locked into a module, too.
Slivven hunter is the most tedious and time-consuming and active job on the ship!

Nothing should be stopping you from doing so unless you're the one piloting.

Plenty is, actually. Given that I have to roam around killing them for the people who are not strong enough to kill them themselves. Can't move around while locked into a module.
Or... are you imagining that the ship is full of Demigods?

A thought just came to me, regarding slivvens. It was obviously implemented to stop afk ahunting, but what has -really- changed? Now, all you need is to find a willing slivven hunter. So, instead of just needing the pilot to be paying attention, now you just need an extra person to pay attention.

That has been mentioned a few times, yes. The only AFK-stopping thing about slivvens are really its room attacks, and that's easilly defended against anyway.

Didn't I mention that trying to resolve these issues via mechanical means is really a suboptimal solution?

Yeah, you have effectively nine out of ten people posting asking to be given a module that allows them to get aether exp while hunting slivven. All in all, effectively no change over the previous afk situation. Pilot (Maybe empath too, though that can be automated easily) needs to be focused (Even though some automate piloting too), and one person that hunts the beasties. The rest can just automate away and afk to their heart's content. Actual AFK checks are probably the way to go... be they admin-run or some form of captcha for aetherhunting.

Simple bandaid fix solution: make slivvens worth 2000 essence when offered to a god. Sure, you'll get crappy experience, but you can make up the offering difference at least!

People are already using them as an unlimited source of things to bash for the great hunt. There's no need to encourage people to do this even more, setting up "slivven farms" to harvest easy essence for their god.
Talan2010-02-28 05:58:20
Now I want my own slivven farm. Thanks.
Should they just be purged from the ship over time in the same way that a docked ship will slowly regenerate damage? That would eliminate the private-bashing area thing and open the door for them to have some greater benefit for the person who has to take care of them during an aetherhunt.

That sounds good actually. If its docked, let them slowly despawn.

If you haven't, I surely had been for the entirety of the last thread, and a similar thread elsewhere.
