Yeah, misunderstood about the Environment thing, but oh well.
And yeah, if there are sticking points, it's Drawdown and Totems. I don't find myself using Moon a ton in combat. I rely pretty heavily on my rapiers. How much of a difference to general damage does Drawdown actually make?

If it is your only dmp, 22% according to HELP BUFFS.

If you want to be more effective in PvP, stick with Moon. The Trackers that always beat on me are Demi-- it has nothing to do with the skill itself. In terms of RP, Tracking is much more fun. But it has zero offense. The companion is a wimp even after it's "buff", and will die in seconds, so just leave it at home. Traps are fun, but require lots of planning to use effectively. Snake pits suck-- they are great when someone falls in them, but good luck getting that to happen when you have to waste all that time trying to find the snakes, after building a net (which you have ZERO correct clues on how to do), building the trap, and hoping someone falls in. I haven't yet figured out if the snakes die in the pit though.
In short, if you want to continue and excel in combat, stick with Moon (or become an IWIN).
If you want to play around and have fun with a unique and utility skill, go Tracking.
I know because of the way I play and the character I made I'd never give up Tracking. And truth be told, we could probably use more active Totem combatants.

Pits are pretty nice to have in groups if you don't have any other Trackers who are regularly around. Obviously Moon is better for 1v1 though.

Snakes in a snakepit will last until that snakepit lasts. If you reconceal a snakepit once it has been triggered, it is reconcealed with any snakes left alive. But as Sham said, it's more about whether or not other Trackers are active.

Yeah, really the only reason that I'm even considering this is that Serenwilde has -no- active trackers that are even remotely fighters. And while Moon is better for combat, with as screwed as Serenwilde is getting right now, we could really use somebody to drop pits.

Just a word of general advice: don't pick a class or skillset just because that's supposedly what your org could use. It usually ends with you switching back eventually.

MOON.
OR.
TRACKING.
Besides, Ila would make a lousy prostitute.
As much as I want Ila to be a tracker, I'd suggest sticking to moon. Moon has "everything". A boost to the stats of your weapon, lots of DMP from Aura and Drawdown, the ability to cone alone, a fast moonbeam, the ability to join in on ranged attacks with a ragecoven, lots of various healings (remember, full is now generally better than Greendulah because of the prismatic barrier), oh and of course there's also harvest for that extra experience bonus.
Tracking is very situational. It is disgustingly overpowered/overuseful for the Celestian epic quest, UV quests and finding manifestations. Beyond that, you can find most things in environment. Except for pits, which are very strong.
And don't sell yourself short. I'm sure you'd do a great job. *tease*

I dunno, Law would pay for that
Anyway! You might as well try it, maybe not invest all your lessons into it unless you've got the money to spare. There's two sides to this, first of all you don't have to change at any point in the near future, secondly you can always change back, you might as well try it at some point if you're interested.

Stay Moon. Never look back. Thread solved.
Why?
Well, with Moon you have quite a few things. Full is great now with a prismatic barrier. Succumb is good in groups, Wane for slowlocking, Resurgem for support, and the obvious Drawdown for DMP and Weaponaura.
Tracking just has pits. You're handy for groups and that's about it. Essentially, you're neutering yourself for the sake of Serenwilde. If that is what you want, feel free to make the sacrifice. Moon is too good otherwise to toss away, however.

As much as I'd love having another tracker around regularly, Moon is really a better choice all around.
Everiine2010-03-04 01:50:08
I'd rather you stay incredibly useful with Moon than situationally and limitedly useful with Tracking. The small benefit to having a Tracker actively using traps pales in comparison to a dedicated, competent warrior with Moon.

Trackers get no love at all...
Unknown2010-03-04 01:53:17
Tracking also has Springtraps and Darts! And Seek/Unite, which lets you get in/out of places that otherwise cannot be gotten in/out of. Like GreatPent!

On the contrary, I'm in love with Tracking. But if someone wants to be more effective in a fight, especially if an org is down, then switching to Tracking is just not a good idea.
Simimi2010-03-04 03:08:08
I can't really refute that point...

When I was a tracker I was able to help turn plenty of fights in my group's favor, even before I became a Demigod. One example is when a raid of 30 came to kill one of the Supernals, and 4 of us with dart traps and an aqua-demesne were able to repel the raid (with two of the defenders being newbies).
The main problems with Tracking are that it is costly and bashing as a Tracker is a pain in the butt. One of those problems can be resolved by the org helping the tracker with the expenses to protect it, and the other can be helped by joining teams of bashers. You do have to be better on your defense than a person with the Moon skillset, but if you learn how to effectively use your traps in a fight you will be far more offensively capable against groups. While as the person with Moon will be singularly better able to survive, you as a Tracker will be able to turn the tide of battles.
Now none of what I said above means Tracking is fine as is. Tracking could use some upgrades defensively, but offensively it can be very rewarding to be one if you have the gold and skill-level to pull it off. Just keep in mind bashing sucks as one, so deaths do tend to have more sting when you are a Tracker.
