Project L is pretty dead, if it ever was alive... perhaps mechanics corner should have sections based on the client people use? cow.gif

I consider my Treant to be Project L, for now. I'm sure a Mudlet system will arrive one day, and that'll be more cross-platform.

Until then, I think we're doing fine so far.

I just don't see any coherent difference between the Project L forum and the Mechanic's Corner forum.

Personally, I'd love separate sub-forums for each client. It'd make finding plugins that are actually for your client that much easier.

Wow.

How did my post make it over here to be quoted? tongue.gif

Each of the popular clients has its own forums.

Project L was created to try and spur the idea of a public, free system that might even be endorsed by the game itself, as a means of getting newer people into combat. Without specific requirements and people working together as a cohesive team, the project just never really got anywhere.

Oops! I'll fix that now.

For mudlet, there's the google code page I put up... I need to do some trolling to try and get more up to date.

And yeah, there's always the forum for the client itself.

I support this thread... And bringing back the epicness of Project L. It's become quite dormant lately. Having a unified system that works cross-platform (obviously coded slightly different for each client, but coded using the same algorithms). Hrm... Perhaps, if I EVER get the time to finish 5.0 for Mantis, I'll do just that. Decisions, decisions...

Most people seriously underestimate the time and effort it takes to not only build a comprehensive combat system but to also maintain it for a good period of time. People start the project and eventually get discouraged or distracted, so it doesn't make it all the way or doesn't last long after it makes it. Having said that, I'll be pleasantly surprised to see competitor combat systems come around.

(Still disagree that separate sub-forums are required, though.)
Sylphas2010-03-17 13:59:21
Exactly. I could theoretically build my own, but I'd much rather support Treant. When I want to code, I'll either tweak that or fool around with smaller codes that won't eat all my time.

I'm working on it. I'm not gonna give up, but it -is- a lot of time and effort. I knew it would be. Just... finding that time. Still, hopefully I'll get some people to use and abuse what I most recently posted.

I should get a chance to die a lot in the arena tonight for my own testing. weee.

While I'll admit I haven't checked, I doubt people go to the mushclient or mudlet forums when they want Lusternia stuff, based just on the amount of Lusternia stuff available on the Lusternia forum. But you can find things you want going back several pages in two indistinct categories. Things could be so much cleaner!
