In my defense, I was typing in the dark.

I think typing is a skill which you can improve with practice. Back in elementary school my father encouraged me to learn how to type. If I could reach 40 WPM he would purchase me this Spiderman play set. It took me years to break that barrier and by that then I was no longer interested in Spiderman....

In Junior High (Grade 7) me and a couple friends got into mudding. Over the years we all saw noticeable improvements especially with common phrases like 'cast armor', 'cast blessing', 'klil hassan', etc.

Anyways apparently the world's fastest typist can peak at 200+wpm which blows my mind. I know a lot of players on Lusternia type -really- fast. I can send them a tell and it seems like they will respond faster than I can think

I used to be able to break 140 wpm. Of course, actually typing that fast is pretty useless for anything besides transcription/data entry.

Last typing test for a job interview I hit 100wpm. I'll have to take this one when I have some free time.

This reminds me of high school, back in that typing class. It was run by an evil :censored:. The classes' grades were based off of improvement from your initial typing speed. It was something like 10 WPM improvement each week for an A. I started at 130 the first week, and she failed me, because I "didn't show enough improvement".

So glad those days are way behind me now.

Interestingly, this appears to count 'words per minute' as 'the number of words with spaces between you typed per minute', rather than 'the number of characters you typed divided by five' - a more common count, I believe, because otherwise you get misleading results - especially in a one-minute test! Wikipedia has that marked as 'needs citation', but I'd heard it somewhere before.

So, yeah. I suggest using the character-per-minute count as a comparison, here, or else doing your own calculation.

It's actually interesting to note that long long ago, I LEARNED to type without looking because of Lusternia! I needed to type out messages to people faster, and I wasn't fast enough looking while I type. So, I used Windows' onscreen keyboard to help me figure out where everything is. I can type usually from 65-75 WPM. I've always been sorta relatively slow compared to everyone else... Except in High School, where I was BLAZINGLY fast compared to everyone, since they all were still learning to type!
