Just a note, but I was informed the insanity in Paradigmatics isn't astral insanity, but rather a new affliction. Should probably start referring to astral insanity as neurosis now.

It's "temporary" insanity, via a skillset.

It can cause real insanity the longer you're under it.

Regarding those defs that will leave your mana and ego at half as long as the defense is up. Will this mean mana kills/toadcurses can go through with little effort?

It would make it easier, I assume.

Person has 8k mana. It would take under 4k to curse them.

Person has 8k mana. Uses the skills, now has 4k max mana. It would take 2k to curse them.

You're leaving out that mana drain skills are usually a flat amount plus a percent, which means that the lower your max is the easier it is to drain you.
Siam2010-04-04 15:35:10
I was wondering if the max 8K would still be treated at the max! Anyway, your answers make sense so I assume the person will have half of their max as their temporary max for the sake of manakills. Oh, hey, monks can TRY mantra deathtouch!

That's actually what I was trying to say. Sorry if I phrased it wrong.

In my example, it would only take 2k of mana drain to get them within toadcurse range, as opposed to 4k earlier.

No, it never causes real insanity. However, it does 'stack' with real insanity. Thus, if you are neurotic due to astral bashing, becoming massively temporarily insane will drive up your neurosis. In other words, there's only one level of insanity which is made up of true insanity (astral bashing) + temporary insanity. Hope that makes sense!

Does temporary insanity emulate the effects of ACTUAL insanity in addition to the Paradigmatics limitations/markers/skills?

Yes, temporary insanity is considered insanity (i.e., stacks on top of whatever level of insanity you're currently at).

That sounds so much nastier than timewarp.

AeonField Surround yourself with an aeon field to slow down enemies.
â—¦Syntax: TIMECHANT AEONFIELD
Power: 5 (The Matrix)
By surrounding yourself with a powerful aeon field, your enemies will suffer from the aeon curse every time the field pulses as well as being time warped. Note that this will halve your ego and mana while in effect.

lol
Unknown2010-04-04 19:25:21
I would assume that by "suffering the aeon curse" they mean it'll still have to remove speed etc., since they have aeon. But I think the new skills look very interesting!

Yeah, time that tic with TIMECHANT AEON and, uh... Yeah. Enough said.

Why is it that anybody could become a founder yesterday, but now there needs to be some ridiculous majority system? :/

I'm just waiting to see how the ego/mana thing plays out. I'm a demigod faeling, so I'd still have a decent amount of mana, but people who go purely warrior races will find it hard to keep it up against certain classes.
Xavius2010-04-04 19:41:32
At the same time, there's not much reason not to do it to most warriors or monks, and it's probably beneficial to do it against bards.

Elaborate?

I'm curious about the politics of this founder selection process. I assume that, much like normal politics, the masques and gloves are now off and it's every dog for him or her self.
Kharaen2010-04-04 19:43:11
If I hadn't just changed class I'd be sooo tempted to go Sentinel right now...

Both guilds look pretty awesome though!

Yesterday, I declined the position when the Templars were hurting. I got inducted today no sweat. However, now it takes a 'majority' of the founders to establish another founder in the 10 slots, and the guild mob has to induct you via Divine intervention. This has made it VERY difficult for experienced people with a good track record as warriors from joining the Templars, because it just so happens that somebody completely irrelevant to the guild decided to pick a fight and start an election.

At least you didn't have to swallow your pride for 5 minutes in order to get in... and I am still not in yet cause it has taken so long that the Divine Intervention left.. Someone better <3 me for what I went through.
