Man. I figured you guys slaughtered the Illithoid village just to stop Glomdoring from winning instantly, but at the time, we didn't really have people either and had you decided to focus on that village, you'd have taken it easily.
As it is, it worked well for Glom that 3 orgs went for Ptoma and Mag/Gaudi didn't get assed to do the other.
It is kind of funny how you guys blamed the admin and yelled RP > Mechanics when it's been repeatedly proven that RP only trumps mechanics when it's needed as a shield.

I think you are right long-term. But if you've been in the RP mode for a couple of days, it's pretty natural to continue to try to follow through with that. Give time for things to settle, we'll all be back in mechanics mode.

All the Serens I've talked to about have agreed that they don't have any interest in Ixthiaxa besides burning it and I don't see that changing.
And I'm not exactly sure what Sojiro means by mechanics here...

I meant going to win the village (In-whatever) yourself instead of piling into the obvious bottleneck in Ptoma.
Shiri2010-04-11 06:43:59
Which explains all those attempted influences of Angkrag and Acknor Seren's done over the years. With all those Crow cloaks we traded Krellan for.

The actual mechanical benefits of owning a village I really don't think out weigh most RP. If mechanics always beat RP Serenwilde and Celest would raise Globglob too, maybe the soulforge once in awhile.

There's no 'always' in Shuyin's statement. RP-wise, though, you could use TBC and the Soulforge - use the same reason for why you're working with Magnagora most of the time. RP and mechanics in one!
Unknown2010-04-11 06:58:03
Alac's got you there, you take a stance against TBC and soulforge, yet work with Mag all the time. Mechanics > RP, you can apply it to villages too.
That's all the point I'm trying to make. That's enough of a derail though.
I wonder if this means the new villages revolt after Dairuchi now.

There's an 'only' which would imply the same meaning if he used an 'always'. And really, our agreement with Mag is mainly we won't bother each other, occasionally help with defense/killing Gloms. ICly I'm still a dick to them when I can be.
The actual mechanical and RP benefits of working with another org FAR outweight that of anything that comes from TBC or owning a village.

You know.. because allying with a tainted city to attack a tainted forest is good rp.

When mechanics outweigh RP, it doesn't mean people like it that way. I don't like that we're currently allied with Magnagora but it's either that or be on our own against Glom, which even from an IC stand-point would be stupid. And heck, if we didn't care about RP we would just try to ally with Glom. The only reason we did before was because the RP of the Hai'Gloh basically forced it.
Sylphas2010-04-11 07:16:31
I'd be all for Celest and all the non tainted allies, but I HATE Celest.
Eventru2010-04-11 07:22:29
You know, you're all terrible RPers.
You should all be worshipping Eventru.
He is, after all, the logical choice.
Rage rabble rabble rumble groopzspit.
Er, I mean.
Roleplay is what you make of it, at the end of the day - it makes absolutely perfect sense Serenwilde would refuse to influence Ixthiaxa - they are, after all, devoted to returning the First World to its original state, one of purity, communion with nature, living in harmony with the world. Chillin' with the spawn of a Soulless God is pretty harshly in the opposite direction. Similarly, one could take it in a different direction and justify it.
bottom line: Roleplay is personal. It's not something to judge self-righteously. Sure, if you see a priest of Methrenton in the Celestines preaching acceptance of the taint, they deserve a hard bop on the head.
But they'll probably get it ICly.

Oh yeah, oops.
(Not that I've been here for Mag workings. Need Serenfax.)

You're completely missing the point.
Practicality when it's going to cripple you otherwise. That's still RP. Lesser evils to fight greater evil. That's perfectly within Serenwilde RP.

Think the bit people are poking at is that:
Seren is willing to work with Magnagora.
But.
Seren is not willing to influence Ixthiaxa/do the TBC.
Both instances are for pro-mechanics yet the argument is that people won't do one over the other because 'it's not in the arpee' even when, pretty much, both are outside the scope of this 'arpee' if I'm seeing the definition right.
I think, anyways. -toddles to catalogue-
