Couldn't you just decrease his age by 20 twice?

Simple solution, increase his age AND decrease Ongaku's age.

True, but I'm not sure he'd be amenable to that. Some people are proud of being super old.

The 20 years is an absolute limit, you can never be more than 20 years off your "real" age.

It might make sense if the absolute limit were instead a percentage of your age, though. Maybe 10 years plus 10% of your "real" age, for instance.

That would only be like 26 even on me though, and it'd be a lot less for younger people (say, those who were 30 and wanted to be 12 could only hit 15.)
Doman2010-04-22 15:54:23
maybe make it so you can only change it by 10 years each IG year, so eventually, yes you can be 17 again, but for super old people it takes longer

So, can it be confirmed that Aeonics Aging can have an effect on adoption? Like, I could increase my age to the appropriate +13 to adopt someone I normally couldn't? That's the only reason I'd ever want to be aged, honestly.

Initiate of the Mysteries, Lillie (Male Human).
He is 14 years old, having been born on the 25th of Tzarin, 228 years after the
Coming of Estarra.

Well, the point was to make it so it was A + B%, the exact numbers are fiddleable. If Estarra wanted "max 20" I thought I'd start with a proposal that increased it but not hugely. If we sell that idea, we can always switch to 5 + 20%... or more.
ongaku2010-04-23 03:15:52
So my idea then to make the age changing skill more useful would be to allow it to alter your birth year so that you could adopt at an earlier age. As it stands, even if Kameen's age changes, he and Lucan won't be able to adopt their son because he's just a couple of years younger than Kameen. sad.gif

It is more than cosmetic! It effects ability to form families, etc.!

But aging someone by decreasing stats is probably more messy than the RP of it is worth.

If it doesn't work, BUG it.

Well, from what I've heard from everyone else (that it doesn't actually change your birth year), it sounds like it has been bugged. I suppose I'll go ahead and put something in for good measure though. >.>

It does not, and should not, change birth year. Still haven't heard one way or the other whether children look at age or birth year. If they don't check age, they should.

There's a problem with checking age.

It's called "Penumbra".
Ilyarin2010-04-23 15:21:46
I don't think that would be difficult to account for.

They look at birth year, from what I've heard. It's been stated by several people that de-aging someone in order to adopt them does not actually work.

Given that Estarra posted this...

How about instead of 20 years, it's your birth-age divided in half.

Which I did. Thanks though.

Birth age/2 should always come out to 0, unless you somehow had an non-zero age at birth.
