Before Aeonics
After Aeonics
Yeah, Ageing really doesn't make much of a difference on you once you get to be this old. And many players are. So, my idea was, why not just get rid of the plus-minus 20 years of natural age limit? Age is purely cosmetic anyway, and it won't break anything if you can change it to be whatever you want.
Please let us centenarians be young again!
PS: I do agree with the at least 12 years old thing though. Let's keep that.

Get Penumbra!

I think it would be more interesting if you made it less cosmetic. Are people really excited about a permanent cosmetic skill? (Honest question.)
If I were going to envoy something for ageing, I'd make it last until the next weave (the Fates fix your place in time then) or until cured with focus spirit. If you make someone younger, you take away years of experience, possibly shown as a penalty to non-discipline common and trade skills to the degree that you'd expect from divine disfavor. (No messing with guild skills. Being able to disable everyone's trans skills for 10p is mean.)
If you make someone older, they wither away a bit, giving someone -1 to each of str, dex, and con.

It is more than cosmetic! It effects ability to form families, etc.!
But aging someone by decreasing stats is probably more messy than the RP of it is worth.

I love how now you can be older than your mother. Heh.

Was wondering whether it worked for that.

I AM really excited about this permanent cosmetic skill, otherwise I would not have made this topic.
Not every single skill needs to affect combat. Go envoy something else and leave Ageing alone.
Edit: Wait... I just realized something. Did I accidentally put this in Combat Guide? Or did someone move it from Ideas? Because I thought I posted it in Ideas.
Ssaliss2010-04-17 21:00:06
I think it was in Combat Guide when I first saw it... although it could've been moved before then, I suppose.

I was going to just use it to get the 13 years onto my age I should have done when I started (picked 16 instead of 29. ), but decided I may as well just do 20. Good to know it works for kids, though!
Shiri2010-04-18 01:14:41
I would rather not make it too flexible because I quite like my age as it is and wouldn't want Hallifax people bothering me with it any more than they already can.

Somehow, I think you're talking about me. I hope I'm wrong.
Shiri2010-04-18 01:19:00
You're wrong! I just have this fear we're gonna get into a war with you guys and some clown is gonna jump me and is gonna be all, HA eat 13 years old!

Psychological warfare. I like it.
Sylphas2010-04-18 01:33:24
Shiri plays Lusternia to feel older, he'd be sad if he was 13 IC too.
Shiri2010-04-18 01:34:37
*cuff* Point is, 20 years is enough for those purposes.
Unknown2010-04-18 01:42:53
I agree, I would like to be a spry lad of 80 once again. Let it take 1-2 reserve power for every year you want off.
Jules2010-04-18 03:08:52
Are you sure, Estarra, that this works for adopting kids? Zig and I attempted to adopt Sherazik (she was 28, turning 29 in two IG days, I was 32, Sherazik was 20, turned himself 13), and it still didn't work for us...
Arix2010-04-18 08:19:59
I would like to point out that I came up with the ageing for adoption scheme awhile ago
ongaku2010-04-22 14:42:12
I'd actually like to see the ability to do more than +/- 20 years. It'd be great if Ongaku could be the same age as his partner. That's just a little under 40 years though. Though it doesn't matter now, considering that Ongaku and Tyrad are both plenty old enough to adopt just about anyone. XD
Eldanien2010-04-22 14:44:21
Simple solution, increase his age AND decrease Ongaku's age.
