Well, the first letter said...something like, roses for the rose, I think. The second one used like, these symbols ---- A lot of them, to make my family name. Mind you, these were only on the last two letters. The first...three, had no writing whatsoever...come to think of it, the writing on started when I started talking out loud over I wonder who it was...hrm hrm hrm.

Hallifax is harder than the other cities, but easier than the communes. Damn those communes...
Unknown2010-09-08 00:20:46
I think the builders must have had fun with Hallifax, in general, considering the city layout, and then the god-awful mess of Continuum. They gave us a break for Air, though.

They gave Aeromancers a break on air. Everyone else is still .

What? Continuum and Hallifax can be confusing, but Air is next to impossible to navigate unless you have the rooms mapped out.
Lendren2010-09-08 02:02:23
Air is easy to understand. However, if you're affected by the waves-analog, it's far, far harder to get around, because its shape ensures that you'll get tossed on pretty much any trip between any two points. If you aren't affected by them, it's super-easy to get around. But either way, it's easy to visualize, unlike Continuum.

He's an Aeromancer. We've got it way easy.

Communes are bigger, but pretty easy once you have a rough idea of where everything is. Hallifax is just... damn. (For the record, I think Magnagora's the easiest org to navigate.)
Thendis2010-09-08 02:49:09
Mag is easy, but I think Gaudi is a little easier.
But that may be because I made an alt there >_>

Jack2010-09-08 02:50:45
I'll confess that Gaudi's probably easiest to get a handle on, but I've been playing Magnagoran characters on and off for six years, so the layout's seared into my visual cortex
Unknown2010-09-08 02:51:36
I used to think Hallifax was nuts and just unimaginably hard. But once it clicks, it's so easy. It becomes literally impossible to get lost. I'm weird, so I actually find it really fun to explain it to people who are stuggling to grasp the layout. It's all about that moment of just "getting it"!
Unknown2010-09-08 02:55:53
Gaudi is definitely the easiest, followed by Mag. It seems the more logical layouts are the hardest to grasp.
True, but that can go for all of the locations. It doesn't help that the communes have the most out-of-the-way hidden rooms and shortcuts... Nature crazy, yo.

Agreed, the tier system is a cinch once you're used to it. It's still the most impenetrable for new players, though, especially since the MAP command is completely useless therein. I'm still waiting for that "eureka!" moment of epiphany to occur on Continuum, though. Picturing it in my head makes my eyes sore and my ears bleed.

Mostly agree with this. Except Glomdoring would probably switch places with Gaudi simply because I've been apart of Glom for a while and have little knowledge of Gaudi's layout.

I think the fact that we have a help file (Chelp continuumnav) telling us how to get around on our own cosmic plane clinches it for us.
Also, do the gusts of Air happen much more often than the equivalents in other elemental planes? IMO, Air is the easiest layout of any elemental plane, so does not having windwalk really make it that much worse?
Unknown2010-09-08 04:17:27
Air is the easiest place to navigate by virtue of their rooms being uniquely named.
Xiel2010-09-08 04:24:26
I agree. I still want an anti-wave ring for Fire and Air though. Stupid 700cr price tag.
Unknown2010-09-08 04:25:11
It's really about just spending enough time in the org. In Glomdoring, I could/can get around to the important places without looking at the screen. Just cause I've typed the sequences so often.

The wind tunnel layer blows you around about two to three times as often as earthquake/tides/explosions, often through multiple rooms. Making your way from one island to another is painful. Fighting in it is nigh-impossible.
