Ok, what the frack.
So, I had to log out earlier and forgot to put my pony in the stable. It had a full food bag and was like, maybe 10 rooms from the stable. And it was like 90% to level 2.
I log back in a few hours later to two messages. One is that its starving and is trying to go back to the stable. And a second that says it died permanently.
Now.. what is the purpose of it even trying to go back to the stable if it can't even make it like 10 rooms? And why doesn't a feedbag last at least an IRL day when its full?
Argh. That such an annoying loss of like 8,000 gold. And I miss my pony.

It gets back to the stable if you have your stable fees for x months paid.

Feedbags only hold four feeds and they eat one at each midnight. So, if you leave your pony out for more than four hours, it's gonna die. I've lost so many poines that way!

I had 3 months paid. So that is definitely not true.

No, I'm pretty sure that it doesn't. Cause, I've left mine out with the stables paid in full and it died. I think that's just a message to make the poor pony's death seem even more tragic or something.

If I bug it do you think they'll give me my pony back?

You missed the "90% to level 2," maybe reading it as "90% past level 2." That pony's death is definitely working as intended.

That's strange. Whenever my beasts starved, they'd just lose one level and then reappear in the stables. Then again, they've always been level 12...

The pony only had the one level. So, permadeath for pony.

Nah, it's not a bug. You just need to make sure to get your pony to at least level 2 as quick as possible next time in case it happens again!

Because they were level 12, and had levels to lose. A level one pony does not! A level one pony is gonna die. (My wyvern did that)

So.. it says the pony is trying to make it to the stables, but it actually isn't unless its level 2+? Meh.
Wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to wait so long to get another one.

It would take forever to get your beast to eat enough food to be able to administer reagents to it, unless they also upped the amount of feed you can put in the feedbag if they made it last a full RL day.

Well yeah... but when its level 1, it doesn't really have any more levels to lose Poor pony.

It is expensive, but then, I've understood that warrior archetypes are supposed to be expensive, so there's prolly no getting away from that.
Yeah, a bit too expensive for my tastes. I did some research before I settled on my "main" character and choice of archetype, and I didn't even consider Warriors because I was told that they're expensive in terms of startup equipment, lessons needed for basic efficacy in combat, and also a higher-than-normal reliance on artifacts.
But even more than that, they seem to get shafted if they ever wish to change their weapon runes around. So even now that I have a handful of trans skills, plenty of gold to throw around, and am confident spending money on Lusternia (because I know I want to stay), I still wouldn't consider a Warrior guild.
Hope they go with someone's suggestions (I've seen many being bandied about lately) and change that someday!

Every time your mount dies, no matter the reason, it loses a level. If it has no level to lose, it dies.

No, that's your job! It'll dutifully stand watch, faithful to you even unto death.

But the message you get specifically says it is trying to get back to the stable.
"A young pony with a braided tail has no food in its feedbag and is starving. She tries to return to the Eyrie Roost for care."

Tries being the keyword.
She tried, and failed.

Said pony always dies on the way back to the stable. If you don't like the message, you can idea it.

Definitely learn Stablemaster. It's about 50 lessons in. Once you have it you'll wonder how you lived without it. And about 40 lessons after that, you get Trotting, which you also won't know how you lived without.
