There is no heavier a sense of OOC in Gaudiguch than there is in any other city, you are just imagining it. The city has a plethora of idiots who just tend to make it more OBVIOUS that OOC discussion exists, but that's what you get when the Admin make the returning founder of the city a smoking, binge-drinking party girl Dracnari, as well as encouraging that behavior in the histories/in city mobs, etc. It attracts a ton of people of that kind of crowd, and they are generally nothing but trouble. I've tried very hard to keep the playful attitude while also focusing a lot on wisdom - Rodngar's IC response to drunkenness in public/on channels is usually one of distaste.

Same with Mieari. I don't mind a bit of play, Mieari's hardly the most serious of people, but there's a line and too often it's crossed in my mind. I like Gaudiguch, love it actually and I'm doing my best but it's gotten to the point my best just doesn't feel like enough.

It also doesn't help that people take 'freedom' to the extreme and don't seem to actually understand the worth/value/measure of it and what it means you can and cannot do - similar to the budding 8th graders in the United States who think certain constitutional amendments give them more leeway to things than they actually technically do. What I mean is that everybody who joins Gaudiguch seems to be an idiot literalist.
Aicuthi2010-07-17 04:56:44
I actually do like Gaudiguch. The hostility could be toned down a smidge though.

I'm more venting my own frustrations with it than anything, because new citizens shouldn't GET those kinds of impressions, you know?

This is only one of the issueswe had and yes it was a major cause of the start RP of the city that took 6 months to stamp out the Girls Gone Wild crowd. Not to say that gaudiguch shouldn't party or anything, just that for the first 3 months everyone who spoke sounded like they fell out of a bad cut scene from Cheech and Chong... or for you youngin's... Harold and Kumar. Basing RP on pretending to be stoned and trying to act like a stoner everyday was just... god awful annoying to see.. especially when I am sure most of the people 'rp'ing' it had never touched a joint or anything harder than chocolate milk in their lives.

When Gaudiguch and Hallifax first opened, I figured their main bents and clashes with one another would be Fire vs. Air, Limitless Potential vs. Achieved Potential, Worldly Wisdom/Enlightenment vs. Practical Intelligence. Order vs. Chaos, Individuality vs. Collectivity.
Instead, all those things I thought Gaudiguch would embody seemed to have gone unnoticed and just now are the majority of the people finally picking them up, inspecting them, and saying "this is pretty cool!" while the guild leaders just shake their heads in frustration wondering what could have gone wrong. :/

@Mieari
Your efforts and hard work every day are appreciated. . It isn't your fault that people don't read your awesome scrolls, then complain that they don't understand, and so suggest you write another scroll to explain how things work (for them not to read).
@Greg
Chocolate milk.

No, we're on the same page. I get where you're coming from. Even just paying attention to the collegium quests explains that to you.
I don't think that having freedom necessarily means you should become a rebel without a cause and spout contrived belligerence at every citymate who disagrees with you.
EDIT: Format.

People are starting to dig more on the chaos (as the greeks would define it)/potential bit more I feel because the Illuminati have opened.
It was there before, but now they can grow tentacles. Some people like visual aids.

Oh crap, I don't think I have any chocolate either... I really must go to the store tomorrow. And do the dishes. I'm drinking out of my last clean up at the moment.

I've spent the last three hours or so destroying, building and enchanting statues. And when I'm done, I most likely won't have anything to show for it. That's Hallifax for ya.
I just wish I had a friend or someone to talk to, to ease some of this mind-numbing boredom.

What, you mean the part where if you donate things to the cities or guild, they don't care or favour you for it?
