I'm not sure he did... but either way it's a valid question, since commodities quests could be used to generate points (though my understanding is, a small amount) for the overall claiming of a village during a revolt.

It's kind of difficult to explain. They help, though. Let's just say if you do enough commodity quests it's like influencing a couple of mobs. You probably won't take a village by commodity quests, but they do add that little extra - which could be make-or-break.

To influence a village the first round you need a fair majority of the villagers to agree - now of course, some villagers will matter more than others. Sylvie matters more than a farmer, but a farmer matters more than a boy, etc. So it's more than half, but if you're at like 55% (random number, it's somewhere around there I believe) of the village 'votes' so to speak and have 0 opposition, you'll take the village quickly. If you hit 55% and someone has 10%, you're not going to take it. You'll need 55% over their 10% (so 65%). Of course, if it's a non-peaced revolt and you're not using conquest, things will go slower. But it's certainly not impossible to win.

What I'm reading is that in non-peaced revolts, crusades are not just a bonus, they're a necessity, as they are factored into the total threshold required to win, is that correct?

Er right, crusade. And the bonus has always been stated. And it's always had the same effect it always has had on influencing. We changed nothing regarding crusade (it was considered a factor when available because otherwise someone could take a village by influencing less than a quarter of the mobs, so it needed to go into the formula. Not using it isn't entirely damaging, but if you're not using sanctuary, you should be using crusade. Silly not to use anything).

There's "Competitor" in between Neutral and Adversary, for the Commercial feelings. Also, between Subdued and Neutral for Conquest feelings is Chastened.

I may get some funny looks, but revolts are one of my favorite parts of the game. What's not to love? There's a touch of strategy, fairly all-inclusive (a place for both fighters and non-combatants), and generally a great opportunity for -lots- of people to get involved. I think a good 'average' time for revolts to last is about 1-1.5 hours. In the span of 5 minutes, there's really no opportunity for an underdog to change the tides. Even with village feelings speeding things up, I'd hope the fastest a revolt would go is 15-20 minutes.

I agree with this. An hour or more. It's really one of the only meaningful outlets of for Player vs. Player combat left in the game, and EVERYONE has a use in it regardless of their level, rank or station. Politics are also kept more or less out- people can team up and alliances shift dynamically. Exp loss is minimal. It's seriously a great system- I can usually leave a village, even if losing, knowing I had a lot of fun.

Agreed. I love revolts, and the hour mark seems a good length for it, since those that last three to four hours are just tiring, and the short ones are not very fun except for the satisfaction it gives the winner. I remember enjoying them even back when Glom had no chance of winning any of them, they're just fun in many ways - interacting with people you usually don't get to in peaced villages, for example.
