He means, of course, that Moondancers don't wear pants on any given day.

Right. And I mean that, since they're already naked, they need to find a way to up the ante. suspicious.gif

It saddens me that now it will basically cost every novice monk 40k+ to buy their weaponry, much less get it tempered.

Tempering is actually really cheap. Best to save every crappy kata weapon out there, and get it tempered into a beast.
Unknown2010-05-14 03:05:51
So they're like masterweapons. Expensive, can temper to how you like it. That works.

Good change, needed to happen.

Tempering will be cheap too. 1 steel per temper, or 1% reserves/powerstone if the forger has a mallet. Tempering down costs nothing. Since kata weapons all have very tight windows for statistics, it won't take much.

They have the exact same steel/reserve requirements as master weapons too, and a smaller range to work over, so they really should cost the same base comm cost at this point.

Now maybe we can fix Repair to replenish remaining months on a forged item?

Like masterweapons, not really necessary if the design is largely metal. Just smelt, and retemper.

Or, temper once and slap a rune on that thing.

It would be nice for novice Nekotai to receive a pair of shoddy nekai the same way warriors are gifted a newbie claymore.

The only issue I'd see with this is you can't use Nekai/Jikari/Tahto/Shofa before you master the skill, and the Fate items decay rather quickly.

This.

Or, let Bob sell cheap nekai/shofa/tahto/jakari (that are in Estarra's forging cartel, out of 300 salt or something similar so they can't be smelted down by mortal forgers at a profit) that have stats of 90/90/90 or something like that.

Okay, the cost of kata has risen significantly, but it's also given us tempering so it's on and off for its greatness.

Would it be possible however to have Kata and Masterkata weapons? Similar to how we do weapons, we have different categories for a varied amount of weapons which is lovely and it ends with masterweapons that are the penultimate weapon a knight hopes to achieve.

Basically, please different pattern designs for Kata (weaker/cheaper comm cost) and MasterKata (Current weapons/more expensive cost).

I'm going to bump this again because I think this needs looking into.

Please?

We heard you - whether it gets done/is liked/is desired or not is up to people bigger than I.

Novice monks can still hunt very well without weapons though to earn enough gold for their weapons, where as novice warriors cannot.

There are people bigger than you are?

We joked once how every time I trans a skill, it gets powernerfed, and I commented that it didn't apply to tradeskills, since I had trans cooking at the time. Apparently the admin was just biding their time

Actually... I quite QUITE enjoy the new tempering. It's quite different than the system in place before. SO, to avoid the knee-jerk reaction of "This changes everything..." Let's think about what it actually changes:

1. Kata weapons are now costly to novices. Nil, they're costly to anyone. I'm commissioning a guild mate to make a wooden "novice" weapon to keep costs down. Think Zelda and that first wooden sword. Sure, it'll have master stats, but I'll try to control that it also has a bland description.

2. Kata (pre-specialization) is half of our skill set. Pre-temper, novices would race through unarmed to get their weapon specialization. Now unarmed kata might mean something. I believe our guild champ was thinking about developing out an unarmed kata combat style for novices.

3. Perfect speed weapons were originally priced around 50k, but then escalated after the first revamp to forging. Lately I've heard of people paying 50 credits per perfect speed nekai. Well, now things have changed. It'll cost little more than 20k for that perfect weapon. Not bad!!!
