Anyone know if the Crow doll interacts with the avatars?
He does!

Ooo, that's tempting then. Although I still desperately miss Selene and still would like to pay hundreds of credits for her.

Crow has a few interactions with all three Night Avatars, actually.
I thought my suggestions were good, though they are more complex than is probably advisable. I'm just not sure how to get the effects I'm asking for without making them overly cumbersome or obnoxious.

Does he do Moon Avatars, though?

No - at least not right now - he will do White Hart, though.

I actually was going to post this in simple ideas, but maybe a dingbat item would be more appropriate.
Obliviousness requires equilibrium to activate and then again to target. One of my ideas for simplifying combat and its use in group combat situations is the removal of the equilibrium requirement. However, I suppose a dingbat item which allowed one to set your obliviousness target without equilibrium could work.

Shard of the Icelord
POINT SHARD AT GROUND-freezes the ground with that ground is coated in slick ice line
POINT SHARD AT DOOR freezes the door
and if we're feeling generous, add in POINT SHARD AT (FIRE)WALL and it will turn a firewall into an icewall or it will just act like geyser and destroy it.
But I'd rather it have at least the first two moves.
If we can have ten totem moves, why not some elemental ones?

Because there are that many available as enchantments?
EDIT: If skill duplication things are on the table, though, you could sell twelve trinkets, each of which are capable of casting a specific astrosphere on yourself (with all the normally associated costs). I don't have any cute names on hand.

If you made those charms you could attach to a bracelet, that would be awesome

As long as they require and consume equilibrium to use, that would be kind of neat.

and be unforceable...
though keep in mind technically this has an impact on Astrologer combat if they cancel out negative spheres which goes beyond the idea of dingbat artifacts
Unknown2010-05-29 15:58:14
There are plenty of dingbat artifacts that affect combat, and I don't think these would be overpowered. I'd love to see astrology sphere charms. Would be neat flavor and their useful in combat situations is still pretty limited by the equilibrium thing.
Unknown2010-05-29 16:05:28
Astrology Charms are FAR too powerful to be used in combat. Astrologers have difficulty sticking spheres if there's another astrologer working for the other team as it is. Having ANYBODY able to drop a sphere(And destroy one of an astrologer's spheres) would be the worst nerf that you could give to an astrologer. Meteor would be a bygone dream, and simply being able to harm the other team's stats enough to make them easier to deal with would be rough too.

if implemented as stated, these would be used to negate the negative spheres an astrologer casts which are also a component in meteor. If they only work when you are not affected by an opposing sphere and cannot be forced then maybe, though really... this isn't the usual... yeah couple low abilities, abilities that practically everyone has or a permanent enchantment.
Plus remember, even if you are paying the cost of the sphere, so is the astrologer every time they have to recast it on you. Battle with one would quite easily become attrition-based, effectively being just who has the most willpower.
If they are only usable when unaffected by an opposing sphere, this would just be a buff and not too different (in terms of combat) to having an astrologer buff you up beforehand.
Unknown2010-05-29 16:31:39
Astrology is already a costly nightmare, not to mention it being time-based. Enchantment-like spheres will be a big nerf to the skill.
Unknown2010-05-29 16:34:40
Your negative spheres last for quite a long time, so the time-based thing isn't really that bad. I'd be fine with it counting as a buff only, but it wouldn't be any less attrition than two astrologers fighting one another (if it wasn't buff only).

err no Zarquan... negative spheres last a duration based off the stars alignment with moon and sometimes papaxi, they can be immediately dispelled by casting the opposing sphere. So with the charms being able to do so...
CODE
Alacardael casts a negative volcano sphere at you.
Zarquan snuggles his burning censer charm and causes the volcano sphere to shatter.
Zarquan snuggles his burning censer charm and causes the volcano sphere to shatter.
That is what combat against an astrologer would become for everyone. Also if memory serves, the positive spheres also count as a defense against the negative spheres too so unless there is no cost for that (don't remember) these little charms are going to effectively double the cost for astrologer combat.
Is there still a 10 power sphere in there somewhere?
edit:
Also for clarification, It's not that they should be buff only. I am more than happy for people trying to mess with powers they do not understand to be hit with the wrath of the stars. If you use a charm when the stars are negatively aligned you should suffer the consequences, you should also always have to pay the full costs if not higher.
"Oh snap... I'm not only suffering a major debuff to my constitution that's going to last forever, but I also paid ten power for it"
Either way I still think that it shouldn't happen. People can get enough buffs as is, if they want the Astrologer buffs then go find an astrologer
Unknown2010-05-29 17:00:09
By 'time-based' I meant that there are days when there are only 4 negative spheres, or useless stellium afflictions, or useless nativity rays. Spheres also cost power, willpower, and endurance - sometimes big chunks of it. I'd rather not double that (and even then the target can just dispel the sphere), since spheres and meteor is a big part of Astrologer combat.
Unknown2010-05-29 17:08:59
Alright, all valid concerns. I wasn't thinking these would be cheap, little charms, though, so not like everyone and his sister would have a fullset of 'em.
