Gah. We have to rely on alignments and then there's a dingbat artifact that can replicate the spheres? No thanks.

Much as I hate being one of the people to say this...astrology is complex enough that you should try and stay hands-off regarding it unless you've actually used the skill before. It's difficult, and downright delicate skill. sad.gif

It's not like they wouldn't be relying on alignments.

No thanks to dingbat astrospheres. Others have said it better - you'd be both sidestepping astrologers' usefulness as support characters by making public one of their best components. You'd interfering with the ability to build up spheres for use with meteor/meteor shower, either by making it impossible (as it already is if both sides have astrologers), or by making it too easy. You wouldn't need 1 person to have all 12 spheres (lol at the idea of basically making half of a full skillset purchasable with dingbats), you just need a couple people to have 1 and it will just get silly in both directions.

Looking back I assumed that these astrology sphere things are positive by default. tongue.gif

And non-Astrologers can't stargaze, so it would be kind of funny to have them debuff themselves at the cost of 3p and 3k willpower and endurance, and have it last two hours.

But yeah, definitely issues. I just liked the idea of a charm bracelet.
Siam2010-05-29 18:20:11
Aramel has an astrology charm bracelet. Or was it someone else?
Sylphas2010-05-29 18:22:09
It's not the same if it's just a design and you can't actually add and remove charms. Would be awesome if charms were like 5 db or something cheap and there were a ton and all they did was be collectable.

Although I'm not sure I'd buy them instead of dolls, because dolls are also cheap and are awesome. Do want White Hart! (also still willing to pay hundreds of credits for Selene sword.gif)

What if you could buy the charm bracelet and then turn your dolls into charms and attach them to the bracelet (for storage / consolidation), and then remove them / turn them back into dolls when you want to play?

Then you could have cheaper collectible charms for other things at 5db each, with dolls being more expensive charms that have reactions.

I'm sure no one would be opposed to the idea of a charm bracelet dingbat item and occasional dingbat charms going up for sale. I'd think they should have some use besides simply being collectible, though.

They can be lucky! Each charm removes 5s from BadLuck's timer.

DOLL CHARMS OMG YES.

Depends on what you want the charms to do and what they are, I guess. If people don't like the idea of charms just existing to be collectibles, then I'm sure people won't mind if some flavour thing came along with them. Perhaps if you ever decide to make tiny racial charms, you can...I don't know, get the equivalent of a changeself illusion that goes active whenever you take the charm off the bracelet? And with the illusion, you can do the racial emotes if you want. /random idea.

I also wouldn't mind if the dolls became compatible with putting them on the charm bracelet too. Stuffing them all into my pack to stop spamming my inventory (adorable as they are) is great and all, but a charm bracelet sounds fun-er.

Edit: Oh, and I also wouldn't mind that dingbat artie someone suggested to be able to magelock doors/freeze the ground or the thong of carcer. More base cosmic things, please.
Lawliet2010-05-29 22:15:31
Where's my infinate improbability drive? sad.gif
Sylphas2010-05-29 22:20:03
Changeself charms would be neat.
Mirami2010-05-30 01:42:04
Magelock arti!

CODE
ICICLE KEY

Just POINT ICICLE AT (where there is a door) to freeze said door shut! This works mechanically the same as elementalism MageLock.

Magical ability dissemination (through enchanted items or whatever mechanic a particular MUD uses) has always been a pet peeve of mine, because it homogenizes the player base somewhat. Everyone in Lusternia can walk on water, turn invisible, scry, et cetera for a pittance.

Pretty much every MUD does that, of course, so I live with it. I want to see some items that give me warrior powers, though. tongue.gif

Beastmastery is what you want for warrior skill clones.

Great rune of surging health.

More health for you!

-still wants the thong of carcer or the magelock dingbat artie-
