B-but!

Monks. Are. AWESOME!

So much potential for awesome.

Probably not on the whole combat scene, but what do I know about that, yet dry.gif

I agree completely. They were broken two years ago when I stopped playing, they are broken now. Some things never change?

On topic, there aren't any Taurians around (besides Faymar). The only other Taurian I know of, Mahvek, is a non combatant.
Why aren't there more Taurians? Beats me, I have always thought they make awesome warrior material.

Off topic now, why are people so obsessed with speed these days? Every warrior I have seen has a speed weapon. I miss damage knights. From my own perspective, there are way too many things that can hinder you to take full advantage of that speed. Please, by all means, tell me why I am wrong in my assumptions.

On topic, Orchlachs, with their low intelligence, are easy targets for mana instakills. Their low charisma makes them easy, easy, easy targets for Telepathic mages.

Off topic again, what happened with telepathic mages? They can be extremely effective, if you ask me, given the way the only free (and extremely effective) system around handles telepathic attacks.

Speed is king in a world where so many people have 5k+ health. You need more afflictions in a shorter time period, since damage doesn't do nearly as much to a person. Simple as that!

So this takes care of damage, which is not an option, apparently.

How about wounding? Is 1000 wounds every four seconds better than 750 wounds every three seconds, since the wounding per second is the same (250wounding/s), but with all the hindering it is unlikely to land a hit every three seconds?

Can someone answer my question, please?

it's always been about speed since day one, even since they nerfed that in half.

Mugwump for casters

faeling for balance users

damage has been capped and pruned so many times now, that even the outliers aren't really outliers anymore.

Yeah buff mugwump in con, int, or cha please. When races got reviewed races like lucidian got a handful of buffs and all Mugwump got was -1 level of fire penalty and then it's speed bonus literally cut in half. i'm not sure how -1 level of a penalty (leaving it at +2 fire penalty) is compensating?

I'm on my iPad! Mudlet plz?

I was trying to think about a useful tae'dae racial skill. How about being able to BURST free of entanglements? We r slow and having to writhe a lot sux!

Max prec/min damage isn't an unusual PvP weapon.

Ok, I am here to set all the records straight.

1) Orclach is the best race ever. Despite not having been one for a bit now. They have a "hooo!" emote. They should be able to influence @target with Hoooo! and use their strength score instead of their charisma stat while doing so. They also have this orclach.gif

2) Human is pretty ok I guess. If you like "well balanced and versitle stats" and "xp bonuses". But both of those things pale in comparsion, and take far longer to say, than "Hooo!"

3) Faelings have a lot of good stuff with no disadvantages. So they took it out on their CON and STR scores. Still, the dex is nice.

4) Aslaran are decent at demigod because of the stat boosts. At least for knights. Prior to that they're pretty squishy and meh.

5) With the spec options for Trill, Lucidians, and Dracnari, we're in better shape now diversity wise. Hooray. Just a few oddballs.

6) Krokani are pretty freaking nice too.

7) So are Taurians. Especially taurians who wear public plate design 8759 that I made on a whim. It has a long description and a codpiece.

Elfen specs are the best races ever, incidentally.
Unknown2010-06-04 00:41:00
I generally do better as a human than as an elfen lord.
Lillie2010-06-04 01:23:53
I played a Krokani once...it was a lot of fun and I don't see why a lot of people don't do it. One-eye RP has lots of potential if you just sit and think about it.
Thul2010-06-04 01:28:24
Apparently Krokano was even dumber than Tae, is part of the issue.

Bumping into stuff? Trying to hit people and being a few inches in front? Being a black, scottish cyclops? Jokes about one-eyed monsters?

I'm fairly impressed with Lusternia's racial lineup, on the whole. Nearly every race seems to have at least one viable, desirable setup where game mechanics are concerned, and only a few are woefully under-represented (I can't remember the last time I saw a merian, taurian or igasho, for example). Game mechanics aside, I find Lusternia's races fun and flavorful in their own right, and there even seem to be combatants who will stick to a race they enjoy, rather than whichever one has the best stats.

The diverse racial system was one of Lusternia's major selling points for me, actually. When I was researching Achaea, I got the distinct impression that there was a preponderance of horkvals and rakshasas, and that almost no one bothered with racial RP.

As far as "balance" is concerned, no MUD or MMORPG I'm aware of has ever come close to achieving gameplay balance, particularly not six years into its lifespan. By that yardstick, I think Lusternia's doing extremely well on the racial front.

Tae'dae mage would be an acceptable PvP choice with psionics, especially telekinesis (although terrible bashing).

Way way way back in the day, Tae'dae mages were awesome bashers. Not sure how they are now, but with all the elemental resistances you could stack on top of their naturals, plus sip bonus, places like Specter Island were pretty much just a joke worth tons of XP. I think I reached level 60-something in the first day or so of playing one. Which, while that isn't Titan or anything, is quick enough for my liking.

Sometime, just for fun, I'm gonna make an alt who's race is completely wrong for his guild. A Tae'dae mage or an Orclach bard or something.
