Ackleberry always seemed like potentially the worst commune to me, because it was, potentially, the epitome of forestal uselessness. Winnie the Pooh-type tae'dae and furrikin with abundant honey, romp emote macros, and no other reason for existing. But then I realised Estarra wouldn't release such a one-dimensional org, and if it did come out it would somehow be really cool, just like every previous city and commune has been.

Who doesn't want the Hundred-Acre Ackleberry? laugh.gif

In all reality, Serenwilde shouldn't be cuddly. In fact, it has absolutely no reason that it would foster the snugglers other than being a forest, and even THAT doesn't make sense.

I don't know how you guys view things, but wild animals aren't exactly docile, and neither is mother nature herself.
Lendren2010-07-12 10:34:14
Serenwilde isn't. Just some Serens are. And not really that much more than everywhere else -- there've been many times Celest was snugglier. Serenwilde just got the stigma, in part because people coming from other IREs expected it and so looked for it. Just like how Glomdoring is emo; it's not really, it's just that there's emo kids everywhere and people tend to notice them in the place they'd be stereotypical.

This. Iron paws, Sylphas! Iron paws! We must picket against potential snugglers in Ackleberry!

And unfortunately those stereotypes are really hard to break. There was a Spin the Bottle game going on at the nexus once that I tried to break up, and people looked at me dumbfounded and responded with "Why shouldn't I be allowed to do this?" They were honestly confused why I was asking them to make out elsewhere. That kind of ingrained thinking is really hard to break.

Yeah, stuff like that is ok in some out of the way corner or, better, in a manse.

At the nexus, No. nono.gif

The only thing I really have to add about Ackleberry is... Riverdancers.

Lakedance or Honeydance!

The Lakewood Coven will have Waterbending+Sap. They'll also have an instakill that involves crushing you under a really large portable waterfall.

Bear will be the epitome of useless, and as usual the female spirit will be the center of attention like how Moon = Serenwilde and Night = Glomdoring. Not that it's anything bad; girls are just generally bada-- here in Lusternia (Rowena. Farella. Scuchidira. Marani.) Lake should be the Wild Force of Nature, predictable but unstoppable. Moon is too motherly and Night is too secretive. Nature is not always like that!

PS Yes I left off Maeve on purpose. Oh, and speaking of Maeve, I will mentally prepare myself for the inevitable drama when Soulless Sun is awakened and pulls on Maeve-psyche.

PPS Actually, reading the Histories, only Great Spirits of the three Basin communes were listed as being part of the Maeve collective. Huh. Rebellious Jojobo is sounding more and more bada--.

I made a post a while back in another thread to the effect of Ackleberry coming back, forming a raiding party the size of Carnival, and going to town. Literally. Hallifax, Mag, Gaudi, Celest. Followed by Seren and Glom.

Though it might be interesting if they were racist...Decapping anyone not a tae'dae taller than size 9.
Druken2010-07-12 12:58:55
Breaking up Nexus parties is my specialty. Just call on Druken, Everiine-- we'll make short work of it together. smile.gif

And yea-- this is all interesting. The Shadowdancers will probably stay reclusive, but it'd be interesting to meet new witches. Negotiations between the two covens have been hard, and when they were successful, tenuous at best. Another grouping of wiccans would be nifty for a while.

Until they declared war on Glomdoring the like rest of the population, of course.

Solution: Fain will be the patron god of Ackleberry.

I can sort of picture fain as the Dark Lord of Sylvanian Families...

Yes. Perfect combination.
ongaku2010-07-12 13:14:09
I like it. happy.gif Only I'd prefer Morgfyre. wub.gif
Thul2010-07-12 17:26:12
One thing I'm curious about is if they'd release Ackleberry on its own... they really couldn't bring out Halli and Gaudi separately due to story, but Jojobo is both outside the Basin (and therefore the realm of interest) and has only the barest hints of development at all. It'd go against the "no neutral orgs" thing, but then I don't know anyone who can't possibly wait for Jojobo to come out. And I suppose it's not unprecedented... Serenwilde didn't have Glomdoring for a while.

so what do you guys think the new communes' racial affinity will be?

Sun is a part of Maeve (it's why he was able to survive the attack by Zenos at all).

And your PS is what I am most amused by, in terms of what comes in the future - as, remember, more spirits return to full consciousness, they begin to manifest themselves in Maeve more and more. Eventually, in theory, Sun would have as much pull as Night or Moon - 'Keep him away from Night! No! Come to me! COME TO HIM! I SHALL BUY YOU FLOWERS! Oh god IT'S SUN! GO AWAY! I'M BRIGHTEST IN THE SKY! Splish splash, rubber duuuuckeeeey ^_____^'.

I've always loved Maeve and her desire for all of the Great Spirits to get along - it's so tragic, at least to me. I know players hate her, but trying to imagine an entity who's very fibre of being is composed of things that hate each other is just. I don't know. Tragic! I mean, imagine if your body parts were sentient, and you're walking around, and your kidneys started kicking the crap out of your stomach or bladder or something. Couldn't be pleasant!

Well, in the distant future, when they come out, I imagine it'll be Furrikin and Tae'dae for Ackleberry and Jojobo would be Aslarans.
