how about this:
Golden pillow - 250 credits
Allows you to sleep anywhere, as if you were on a bed. If a dreamweaver tries to attack you in this sleep, they will sleep next to you instead.

No thanks! Attacking sleepers is hard enough, and how would this interact with dreameweave control (immunity to sleep attacks)?

I might have already suggested this, or someone else may have, but I forget if I did or not, so I'll add this now.
A lapdesk type item so one can write letters while seated anywhere, not just at a chair and desk. So I can write letters while seated like at the nexus, and then just mail them without having to find a desk (yay, euterpe). Subject to the same things of needing to be at full health, mana, and ego, so it can't be used to go poof in the middle of combat.
I'm sure I'm missing something bad, er, other then taking something away from artisans, meer...

Been suggested a frillion times and shot down. Was proposed as a way to make the GA item have an actual use, shot down. Proposed as an artifact, shot down. Proposed as another artisan skill, shot down. Never gonna happen.
The "something bad" is allegedly using it to hide from combat or go idle, because one idiot did that with his journal back before desks came along. And of course because no one, not one person, has ever thought of using projects or orghelp editing to do that, nor ever would. That's far, far too challenging an idea for anyone to figure out!

If someone does that they ought to just get shrubbed for 6 months.
Lendren2011-09-09 10:58:15
I can't remember how long he got shrubbed for, I don't think it was quite that long. But the admin usually would rather prevent something than enforce it -- a lot less work and a lot less grief.

But not until it has actually been abused.
See: It's still possible to steal deeded aetherships with thousands of credits (not to mention the millions in gold) invested in them.

A gnomish telescope that lets you look around corners.
Maybe something like SQUINT , so you would see the rooms in the first direction until the second direction was available, and maybe also increasing the max range of squint past 6 rooms? Or maybe it would work better with the GLANCE ability?
Maybe something like SQUINT

I like. Also, it would be nice if it let you squint through hidden exits. (Or is there already a way?)

"Tears of Yuhde" or "Dreams of Estarra" or "Loom of the Fates".
A high-cost artifact that has a single use. (Maybe it's a special Auction item or only available as an artifact package--you gotta pay cash for it--and I am thinking this is worth at least 1000 credits, if not delving into Cubix levels, since it's basically a sort of "direct intervention" by the admin).
Basically, this is the equivalent of a Wish or Miracle in games like D&D. You basically use it and write down a Wish. Then, fates provide--if the admin approve. Basically, this would be a way to get some sort of special customization, some sort of special event, or perhaps a huge one-time boon that can determine the outcome of a battle/conflict. The twist is you can never be sure you get exactly what you want, and the admin can twist it fit into the scheme of the world--get too greedy and have some nasty side effects. And since its a planned thing you can't use it to directly influence combat immediately. There would be a list of rules similar to what you have in games like D&D or other things, stuff that would be outright rejected, etc.

That seems really messy and unneeded. If you want some sort of uber-customization to something you normally can't get customized, but aren't expressly forbidden from, you can just shoot the admins an email and sort out a credit cost case by case.
Unknown2011-09-13 11:34:46
Yes, but the thought was not for customization but for things that can't normally be done without divine intervention. (The other two options). I just stuck "uber customization" in there. I thought it might be nice to have some sort of open-ended Wish thing possible--but this would have to either be expensive, rare, or both.

Think I suggested this before, they didn't go for it for some reason.
As for the magic wish... What happens if you ask for something that's over powered and that's the only thing you wanted it for? That's 1k credits/whatever wasted. Too much work I think, too.
Would it be possible to get... NPC family members? Not quite beasts or manse dwellers because you don't choose what you get, like a companion that starts as a baby and grows up and there's a good element of chance? I dunno, an idea that could be fleshed out at some point.
Unknown2011-09-22 22:53:07
The peaced artifact is not allowed because, while a manse can be private, it's not a 100% guarantee of safety, especially since they can be ships and are part of combat.
And Yay for Lawliet being alive and okay.

There was this argument in achaea against babies, forgot what it was..
But an npc family member in itself, it would be complicated and costly. Would they add to the total amount of family members when it comes to great houses and such? How many reactions are you going to give it? As for growing from an infant to an adult, it's interesting but would be very costly.

Just have someone else design the dweller for you, and have credits to re-customize them as time goes by?

People being what they seem to be, they would be used primarily to make people miserable by killing, stealing, or defacing them. The amount of emotional intensity people get over things like a number on a screen is bad enough, without the magnification that comes when someone is treating it as their baby.

I desire an artie that would let me adopt two children at the same time. Twins can happen!
