Manse roulette and blackjack tables
Rune of auto-shield (sets up the basic lowmagic/highmagic shield whenever you stop moving/attacking/doing anything that would drop a shield)
Flute of the pied piper (causes vermin to become noticeable in a certain radius for a certain time, whether or not you have RATS on. Could also call a third vermin type in non city or commune areas, perhaps only a single one per room, in that radius)

The web site is absolutely horrendous with staying up to date when people change descs. For fun examples, try looking up Atellus, Lanfayr, or Lisarel.

The website only updates when you update your motto. Some are so old that they don't go with the current character's name! If you never update your motto, the information will not update.

The Great Looking Glass - 100 cr

Allows you to GAZE GLASS to see that person's current description, including jewelry, clothing, armour, weapons, etc.

Allows you to STARE GLASS to see who is currently standing at that room, respecting invisibility, yesod, sneak, etc.

Allows you to PEER GLASS to see what room a person is in, if on Prime or an aetherbubble or manse

Allows you to PONDER GLASS to get a random room's LOOK description, does not include mobs, players, or items

All of the functions are broadcast to the whole room. Must be placed in a Manse to function.

That would HAVE to be more than 100 credits, way more. tongue.gif

A magical family clock that when looked at, shows the current location of every family member. This would be sorted first by online family, and everyone offline would be "beyond your perception". Kind of like the Weasley's clock from HP.

Also, I've been tempted to submit this as a custom request (but figured it'd have no chance): airships! Only works outdoors, and we'd get several cloud levels, like mountaintops or burrowed levels work.

Nice idea. But who wouldn't just use the website instead?

Yeah, the website isn't reliable at all.
Lendren2009-07-11 01:40:33
Yeah, I guess I wasn't thinking. Usually when I need someone's description, it's for a historical play, so "out of date" is actually a feature. smile.gif

Hmm...Like, how much more? I've never bought arties, so all I know is that to me, 100 is a lot of credits to use on an item you can't use where/whenever you want.
Richter2009-07-11 08:26:25
I'd guess that's at least a 400cr artifact.
Nariah2009-07-11 13:39:32
I think the looking glass is actually really neat... suspicious.gif But definitely more something like 250cr (comparing loosely to other miniatures).

Come on Estarra -nudge- will this be an auction? Dingbats? Just new arties?

I dunno whether to stockpile on credits or spend on what I planned (pet so non-refundable)! freaked.gif blackeye.gif

Just wanted to let you know that pet + sentience = awesome x 10. Just remember to put much work into it before you go ahead and order it. Know how he's gonna act, what he's gonna look like, what his story will be, and you shall have a wonderful companion! *hug Jeanne*
Aerotan2009-07-11 18:47:41
So 400-500? Lower, higher?

I threw the 100 out there because it's theoretically going to be stuck on a wall rather than mobile.

Bagpipes!

You can wield them so they show up in your short description, and choose from two emotes:

Bagpipeblare

Without regard for talent or the ears of others, you blow a toneless wail through your bagpies.

Bagpipedrone

Holding your bagpipes reverently, you play a droning, melancholy tune.

...maybe make it cause/remove deafness with a super-long EQ time that would make it useless in combat, but more fun outside of it.
Xiel2009-07-11 21:15:03
I still want my perma-ads. sad.gif

Oh, and just to be helpful to the joke-artie request, we can always have a bag of the HP every flavour jelly beans. >.>

Unless that'd be too much of a copy, then we can always just make them little wiggling candy Kethuru tendrils. biggrin.gif

P.S. Oh, and another silly idea (instead of me making another post) how about...name tags? Indecisive about naming your pets and beasties because the 1k gold fee is too daunting to constantly try out renaming your dragon turtle from Shelly to Shellder to Piedmont? Get some name tags to rename your loyals any old name and as much as you please! Until you find one which properly fits the personality of your beastie, anyways. cheer.gif

Ooh. 10cr? 5cr?
Xiel2009-07-12 00:53:49
Whichever, really. It's a simple, giggleworthy artie that I'd want anyways.

Man your sig takes up my entire screen. o_o
Xiel2009-07-12 00:57:29
Not my fault! D:

Let's worry less about Xiel's signature length, less about what we'll charge for artifacts, and more ideas on some cool, less combat-effecting but neato RP artifacts. Ideas like some of the dingbat artifacts are good (like the scarecrow hat, the dolls, the candy boxes, the lockable containers, etc), as well as some less combat-related ones (like we made an artifact to give people fluidswim/one to ignore tremors on earth, the ones that are basically infinite enchantments, Tully's Golden Broom, etc). You know, things that might have SOME effect on combat, but they aren't strictly combat artifacts (and have potential for many players to use in all walks - combat, RP, etc!)

I've seen some cute ideas on the thread so far, so keep 'em coming!

The Bouncing Ball of Whatchamacallit

BOUNCE BALL
Makes you drop the ball but then it bounces to a random person in the room. Insert more flavour here.

BOUNCE BALL
Makes you throw the ball to the person you specified but it bounces off to another person in the room.

Ball Tag!

Bill of Lading (3cr): A one-time use artifact which lets you move a piece of furniture. Bring it to the destination and STAMP BILL to set the location, then bring it to the furniture and ATTACH BILL TO . That crew of workers that normally comes to smash up furniture instead comes, collects the bill of lading, and then moves the furniture to its destination with only a few dings and scuffs to show for it.
