A miniature paddock: Allows you to turn a room in your manse into a stable; enrollment fees and (maybe) feeding fees do not apply.

Every time this has been proposed it's been shouted down with "but that would make bookbinding pointless", and while that horse may have most of its body out of the barn, this version of the proposal is intended to avoid that criticism.
Great Rune Of The Changeling's Tongue (500cr): Can only be attached to a cameo of the changeling. Allows knowledge of languages to carry across bodies. (That is, lets you speak and understand any racial language you could understand by changing shape, without having to change shape.)
Alternately, make the changeling cameo a two-level artifact the way the prism and cubix are, with the option to upgrade, and make the second level include this functionality. (Same thing, just slightly different implementation.)

So this would let you speak and understand every racial language? O_o

You're already able to be every race!
Doman2010-02-22 15:33:35
500 creds is WAY too much to just add languages
Unknown2010-02-22 15:43:26
I'd pay it, just to understand and speak all languages all the time, regardless of my current race, which is what I believe Lendren is suggesting. 500cr is a little steep, maybe, but I'd buy it eventually.
Lendren2010-02-22 16:39:46
I figured 500cr is midway between what makes sense, and what the dollar signs in Estarra's eyes will think makes sense. Plus it will defuse the "but then bookbinders will all whine that they're made obsolete" argument.
Really, it should be an integral part of the existing cameo. Drives me nuts that people can speak a language in front of me I was speaking like a native five minutes ago, and I can't get a single hint of what they're saying. There's just no IC explanation for that that's not more painful than trying to ignore it.

That's BS, anyways. No one even vaguely cares about racial languages outside of RP. The only language important to know in the context of evolving game climate and events has been Divine, and I doubt Divine language would be included in this.

RUNE OF DIVINE MENDING
200cr
can be attached to any wearable, non-tawdry item (robes/splendours included); makes it resetting/non-decay/max prestige for the item. Great for lending to your underdressed friends.
RUNE OF SOULLESS MENDING
200cr
Can be attached to any mendable item that can become tawdry/shabby/pathetic; makes it resetting/non-decay/minimum prestige. Great for lending out to your beggar friends.

Will never be added if it affects splendors, I'd think, unless they let other people rune their tradeperks. I see no reason it shouldn't work for non-armor clothing, though.
Unknown2010-03-04 18:36:11
If there are runes for clothing that protects from damage, there had better be runes for armor, too.

You really can't think of a reasonable IC explanation for why magically transforming your body into another race might make you forget a language, but you're fine with it teaching you a language?
And I've always wondered about the origin of the languages, did the mortal races just know their own language when they formed from the shards the Elders or were they somehow built up over time normally? If the language is an innate magically inherited part of the race would make total sense for the language to change with the race.

So far as the origin of languages go I think it makes slightly more sense (kinda) to assume that the mortal races just knew them magically, why else would everyone but bookbinders be completely incapable of learning them? Cuz Bookbinders have some sort of voodoo magic.

Yes yes yes yes yes yes
As another option, instead of them simply not applying maybe extend the period which you can pay beyond 36 months. Although I'm not sure paying anything would make sense, since you would be the owner - where is the stable fee going? Unless of course the stable came with a manse dweller stablehand.
Esano2010-03-05 00:14:00
The stable fee is going towards feeding your beasts, just like the normal one ....

No, the whole thing about both learning and unlearning messages makes no sense, in both directions. Pretty much everything about how languages are handled in Lusternia and IRE games generally makes no sense, and even more so when you reincarnate, and even more even more so when you're a changeling. There's more than enough "makes no sense" here to make a nice big no-sense pie with a slice for everyone.
Sylphas2010-03-05 01:05:54
Mmmm, pie.

Alternately, make the changeling cameo a two-level artifact the way the prism and cubix are, with the option to upgrade, and make the second level include this functionality. (Same thing, just slightly different implementation.)

Yes please. I would totally get that. I agree, it is totally weird how languages work in Lusty. No one uses them because of the lack of functionality. It is just easier to speak common!
But I so want to be able to speak all races. Would make me feel more like a changeling!

Gnomish Umbrella (75 dingbats): Whenever you open it, it rains, and everyone else gets wet. (Effect: same as Nature Rain, except the person who opened it doesn't get cleaned if they're stinky.)
As much as I like this, doesn't Nature Rain clear ecto/mud?

Even if it does, that doesn't mean the trick umbrella has to do so, if you're worried about combat imbalance.
Esano2010-03-05 03:03:02
Nature rain doesn't - or shouldn't - clear ecto. Probably not mud either. Definitely not sap.
