I don't really understand why the rune has to be destroyed anyway? What's the harm letting us move runes around?
Rika2010-12-01 21:15:48
Well, for 50 credits, you could just customise the piece of jewellery...
Unknown2010-12-01 21:40:45
Customization does not come with non-decay or resetting, so it's no different from making a new jewelry design and then crafting it.
We're thinking strictly about weapon runes and special item runes here.

Mirror Image (250 credits)
Once a day you can place an immovable image of yourself on any location, which will respond to any greetings with, "Hello" "Quiet I'm thinking." "There are voices in my head" among other emotes.
Will be removed after 15 min or so, excellent for freaking out city or commune enemies.
----
I want to have artifacts that could be on display, museum artifacts like the one in Achaea, is that possible?
edit:
is it possible to change a person's age as well above the 20 years and let it be treated as an artifact? Age change for family purposes only.

Why would you need it to come with non-decay and resetting when you're putting a rune on it anyway? I'm saying that if you're going to pay 50 credits to move a rune from one item to another, why not just customise that first item?
Lendren was talking about jewellery.

Small, cheap artifact like the privacy and darkness ones that allows a room to be permanently submerged in water. Some of us like flooded manses!
Unknown2010-12-02 03:44:56
Okay, so Lendren's the one who's a little off then. The only mistake I've made in runing jewelry items is to have too many rings, since some of my artifact rings (ahem) count against the maximum number you can wear.
The original discussion was just about weapons and passing them from one person to another by removing the runes and getting new runes put on them. If I could move my runes from one set of weapons to another for less than a one-third hit, I'd be pretty happy. I'm already a bit miffed that 3150 credits doesn't do nearly as much for me as lesser amounts do for other archetypes.

Oh, right then. Go go runeflex?

Customization also comes with the benefit of making that item appear on ARTIFACT LIST. Your runes will always say "inside item#314159", so you can't actually tell where they are via that list. If you customize the item, you can follow it around with the list. It's only really useful if you lend them out a lot, but it's a neat tidbit of info.
Also, you can make magical shiny jewelry that wouldn't otherwise pass the Charites. My mandolin produced the quiet echoes of laughter and birdsong when it was at rest, for instance, and my necklace is wreathed in living emerald vines.

I wish I could make customised recipes like that, even with a larger credit price... The Black Kitchens will reign supreme.
Lendren2010-12-02 13:57:28
I will probably customize a bunch of my mismatched jewelry eventually. I'll also have to get some enchantments removed and then re-enchanted (which is crazy hard in some cases). But that still won't do the job entirely because you can't change whether you have multiple runes on a single item that way. There is no way to do that other than destroying and rebuying runes. As Iasmos points out, it's also relevant for things like weapon runes, runes on instruments, runes on staves, etc. where there's more than just the appearance in play, there's also weapon stats, or instrument aptitude, or pacts, etc.
50cr to just remove my rune would be tons easier, and tons more flexible. Plus it wouldn't take up some of Estarra's time to actually do the customization; it would be something I could just do by a command, similar to how you can buy an upgrade to an existing rune without bothering any of the admins.

How about a orb for the manse that makes you less tired the more time you spend in the room. Perfect for meeting rooms

Gnomish ultra-wings

Mountaineer's Piton
USE PITON to scale one elevation upwards. Has a chance to cause you to fall if you are above ground elevation.
While the Piton is wielded, you cannot be knocked out of an elevation by wind. This does NOT bypass the chance to fall on USE.

Snowball Gun.
Idea could use a little work to be more RP correct. Perhaps tie in Hallifax's technology to the description... hm.
Gnomish Snowball Shooter.
AIM SHOOTER to lock on aim. FIRE SHOOTER to fling a snowball in their direction.
Needs about a 2 second balance regain so that it can't be spammed, perhaps with a cooldown time of 5-10 minutes after it's been fired 10 or so times.
Has to be wielded.

WOODEN ARCHWAY - 250 cr.
Half the price of the marble archway manse artifact, gives you half the manse ambience messages.

The "ten" you get as it is, is really only five, since each one is day or night but not both. If you halve it, you won't have an even number. I'd suggest the existing one just have its price dropped without lowering the number of messages, as it's really out of whack for what it does.

I approve of this too!

Mostly for shopkeepers with multiple shops:
The Orb of Spatial Mirroring
This would consist of a minimum of two similar artifacts. When they're both dropped in separate stockrooms (both shops must be owned by the person owning the orbs), the contents of both stockrooms show up in both shops. Mainly for making it far easier for a shopkeeper to keep two (or more) shops stocked. If there are three or more of these tied together and one isn't dropped in a stockroom, that orb wouldn't make the items magically appear in the room it's dropped, nor would any items dropped in the room with that orb show up in either stockroom.
They would be tappable and resettable just like keg runes and cube runes are.

What's the point of having two exactly mirrored shops? You'd make more, I would assume, from tailoring to the clientele of each.
