Would it stop mobs from emoting? Jeanne still has to surprise poke Daraius' feet.
Unknown2011-03-04 18:19:41
I think the point was not to stop every targeted emotion, but to target the top dozen most annoying ones for an individual.
Lendren2011-03-04 18:29:10
The problem though is that there are a lot more emotes of some types than others. Depending on what you feel is not in character for your character to stand for, 13 might not come anywhere near cutting it. Particularly once someone, finding that seven forms of kiss are blocked, finds the eighth form. We're dancing around the real issue: so many emotes (and some bad roleplayers who use the EMOTE command) decide for you what you do, without your consent. A problem that is annoying, but probably not worth coding a fix for, especially when you think of how huge that fix would have to be, to not be easily circumvented by any average jerk.
Lawliet2011-03-04 19:21:25
True, but saying "we shouldn't have that because it's not fool-proof" isn't a terribly good point. Yes, some jerk might decide that if they can't use one emote to annoy you they'll find another. That's what snub is for. This might just be an indicator to newbies or people that don't know you that you don't find that behavior acceptable.

And if not... Well it'd clearly be a dingbat item and it looks fun. Why not?

Murphy's Hardened Princess Badge

(A gnomish misinterpretation of Murphy's catch phrase, this little badge depicts a nymph wearing full plate and carrying twin flails).

This Device allows you to Block a set list of targeted emotes. Anybody attempting to target you with one of the banned emotions sees this.

An image of a nasty nymph wielding flails cows you into submission, preventing you from finishing your attempted interaction.

Syntax

EMOBAN LIST (lists all your bans)
EMOBAN ADD
EMOBAN REMOVE
EMOBAN CLEAR (clears all settings)

For example

EMOBAN sadcling
EMOBAN flickbooger
EMOBAN zerbert
EMOBAN pounce
EMOBAN bitchslap

(I figured this would be useful to the player base.)

There'd be a limit, maybe 13 or so...

Isn't it kind of ironic that an artifact that (I assume) blocks certain emotes because you don't want them to force a certain reaction on you, does the very same thing to the person emoting?

That said, I think it'll be a nifty artifact, just maybe not such an invasive message.

Good thing I said that we should have it, then (or at least that I'd buy it if we did, which is pretty much the same thing).

*Hallifax buys one for every emote involving contact for Daraius's benefit*

Aww, that's sweet. wub.gif

Most Hallifaxians are pretty good about it, though, and Daraius is better at dealing with the ones who forget. LIKE WUYLINFE.

P.S. I actually wouldn't want one of these, but I do think emotes that force a reaction from the target could be looked at.

(some item) of the Gods

Allows one to use shrine powers remotely. Maybe a small increase in cost for using it remotely but does respect the symbol.

(This probably need shrines to have numbers to them.)
---------
Key of the Gods (or some portal related thing)

Allows one to teleport to the godrealm/inner temple.

Portable gravity is just a disaster waiting to happen, so no thanks to that. We already have the font for offerings though, if you wanted that. As for the key, Cults have that skill already, so get inducted into one!
Unknown2011-03-05 01:16:33
It could be just for personal shrine stuff, not the area-wide stuff.

You need 5 members for the cult thing to work. I want something personal (and that is free).

Edit: Yes, Ssaliss, that is what I mean. be able to sit somewhere and be able to active shrine powers of existing shrines.
Ssaliss2011-03-05 01:20:29
From how I understood it, it wouldn't be a portable shrine; rather, you could use it to activate shrine powers at an already existing shrine. I.e. sit in your city/commune and activate a shrine in a village or some such.

This or it could be keyed to be either healing or shield, and can only switch so often. . (I played ENTIRELY too much of that game...)

I wish I could make portals on my own sad.gif

Edit: Portal-making artifact. Make it so.
Llandros2011-03-05 17:03:35
If these are for an auction, then a set of artifacts that copied the VA/TA powers that give pets or mounts special attacks for one hour in a day would be fun (Ur'Life, Compatriot of Chaos, and Peaceful Companion).
Lendren2011-03-06 00:19:32
In the "frivolous dingbat artifact" category, how about a selection of play-toys that you can use with your beastmastery beasts? For instance, a ball that you can throw that makes your beast emote one of a few random things like fetching it or pouncing on it. To make it comparable to, say, the dingbat pipe, there should be three or four actions you can do, each of which can cause three or four reactions chosen randomly. It'd be nice if, like dolls, there were a number of them, so you could get one that made more sense for your particular beast type.

I'm sure everyone will be amused by a giant sparkling lyrebird playing catch like a doll though! IT would be delightfully nonsensical!
