And even then, unless you can win the passives war against your opponent, it would be a uphill battle.
That. I think fighting in choke goes down to whoever has the most or most devastating passives.

That's why I have suggested that passive effects affecting the target also be slowed down in Choke. They have to pass through the shadows to get to you... or something.
Unknown2010-06-26 13:18:53
Down with passive masked repugnance!
Although, I don't really have the right attitude with Choke, I get too petrified when I'm choked.

Choke, at its core, is all about being more offensive than the other person. There is a reason why, as an SD, I was able to beat other SD's handily. The passive offense of a Shadowdancer can be easily turned against them in Choke. The other part to Choke is what most people lack (including Solanis from his post) and that's just not freaking out royally when you get choked and keep a calm head. Just remember that your enemy is choked too, and that you always have tumble for a quick getaway. It's really not hard to fight in it with the loss of Succumb, Choke having a chance to immediately fade upon movement, and so forth.

Choke one versus one with out passives means you have to juggle between offensive actions and healing, because if you just focus on one, the other falls short. This log is about choke in a group situation in which you have a person who has the ability to stop someone from tumbling away without wasting time in choke to fix said situation.
Eamon's situation also won't be repeated again. Perfect Fifth will give the bard an increased forced movement resistance and if the report for red/malkuth passes, which I think it will, then a perfect fifthed bard will be very hard to gust/kick/punch/ask the bard away

Good call.

Maybe. Just maybe. We can change choke into a recurring curable aeon.

Or give it the same requirements that Jinx has, meaning that if you are under the influence of Aeon/choke Jinx goes into remission.

I'm not too familiar with Jinx, yet! I'll look into it.

above + a slight delay when you attempt to cure it(like the delay Succumb has). See what I did? Curable choke makes everybody happy!
(Okay, fine, almost everybody.)

This is perhaps what makes me most unhappy about this whole thing. I can see the reasoning for that in 1v1. But it makes it ridiculous in teams, because giving them even more movement resistance just removes the counter to it in groups.

It also stops us from getting chainyanked, wisped, springtrapped, and other skills too. Everyone wins!
Sylphas2010-06-26 20:47:44
Yeah, it'll be nice in general. But it's hard to say "Just gust them and run" at the same time there's a report up for more movement resistance, one of which targets pfifth in particular.

Except it doesn't, because choke breaks group combat.
We should just kill the sacred cow. If choke is proveably fine 1v1, make it so that's where it can be used. In 1v1 fights. If 3 or more people are in a room, all choke effects drop. Its not like glom needs choke to win, its just a stonewall for groups. They'd still have better skill synergy than every other org, with the bleed/manadrains/manakills.
And that P5th one passed already Slyphas. if the low/highmagic one in the pipes goes through, it just makes it even less likely that you're going to be able to move some instakilling bard, something choke makes even more unforgiving.

Does forcing something like metawake stop Bards instakills?

Maybe it's just me, but I haven't noticed much (if any) difference from the pfifth resistance change - I still get thrown around all over the place pretty easily, it seems.
Krellan2010-06-26 21:40:33
any action the bard takes will stop it

Choke does not break group on group combat. Not that it ever did, but the single target, highly mitigatable choke has even less impact on groups than it does 1v1. I'll happily concede that choke makes 2v1 or 3v1 very, very unpleasant, but that's the way it is for any reasonably experienced and coordinated team. Yes, all of Glomdoring's group gank combos involve choke. No, I don't think that's a problem.
