The above is referred to as back-talking. If your drill sergeant tells you to throw your frilly pink and you tell him/her to buy you a new one, he/she will be most angry at you. Because you are balk-talking to him/her.
This goes back to my jurisdictional argument... said person was not, as far as I can tell, in the Cacophony, so they weren't his "drill sergeant" and shouldn't have stuck their nose into his situation like they did in the first place. Someone who needs Tedd's vote to stay in office would not have PK'd him for asking if they would foot him the bill for a new lyre since it's a hefty investment.
This lack of jurisdiction, or to put it more simply, a lack of people accepting boundaries to their influence out in Mag, is why there's this reputation for people going on "power trips."
I doubt the kitty claw nekai was handled with someone from the Blacktalon, for example, PK'ing the nekotai member, but rather it seems to have been handled within the nekotai guild itself, and therefore no one's described that similar incident as a "power trip" because it was handled by the appropriate people who had reason to behave appropriately during their handling of it.

Not knowing who kill Tedd, Magnagora works like this:
You can have your pink frilly things IFF you can kill people. Tedd qualifies although he might not be considered one of the "big dogs."
Moving on, I think it's a good thing that Sahm has the ability to "smack down" any other Mag regardless of rank or guild. However, there IS an extreme difference between Sahm handling Magnagoran matters and handling another guild's matters. In fact, if Sahm knew of anyone dealing with Ninjakari that was not a Ninjakari for Ninjakari-related things, there would be anti-smack to said person.

I wish Mag would either change the 'no elfen' law or be more consistant in enforcing it, it's confusing to be allowed to wander aimlessly around the city for hours or converse with people at the megalith one day, and the next day pass by on the way somewhere and be asked to leave. Make up your minds, people

Do you have any idea how boring it is to check the races of everyone who passes by?
Arix2010-07-21 01:46:11
Hence why I suggested changing the rule. It mostly seems like people only enforce rules like that when they want to feel special
Kaalak2010-07-21 01:51:26
Kaalak was an Elfen in Mag a very long time ago.
Based on how the character of Kaalak was played it was permitted by Nigredo, Vau, and Daevos.
Did someone change it in the past 6 months?

I thought they were allowed, they were just perma-blocked from the Megalith and treated badly?
Vashner2010-07-21 01:56:04
It might also be feasible to have the guards chase you out if you're elfen or merian...
Ardrak looks at you with distaste and says, "You have ten seconds to leave before I have you removed."
-- after five seconds --
An Ur'Guard Grand Marshal positions herself before you, cracking her knuckles intimidatingly.
-- after ten seconds --
An Ur'Guard Grand Marshal grabs you by the collar and throws you out to the west.
Of course, that only happens if you're NOT enemied. Otherwise you get the sharp and pointy swords.

If they joined as a novice from the start, that's what happens. But recently I've observed that there's an insistence to change race when joining when you're older / not through Ardrak
Lendren2010-07-21 01:58:02
Or just to have the guards notice it and comment on it, and leave it to players to actually choose how to act on it.

1) Those of a contemptible status may not sully the Necropolis, the
Silent Cathedral nor Morgfyre's Temple with their presence, lest they
seek to spy upon us and betray the will of the Engine to enemies.
2) Those of a contemptible status may not draw power from the Megalith -
dross and any ration included, lest their hands sully the nexus.
3) Those of a contemptible status may not speak out of turn to their
superiors, nor may they rise out of Peasant status, nor may they be
appointed to any position.
4) Those of contemptible status may not wear fine materials, such as
silk or velvet. Angelskin is anathema; bright colors and jewelry are
banned as well, lest they forget their places.
5) As Lord Fain loathes the elfen, merian, and kephera, so may they be
rendered contemptible before the Engine.
6) Possession of any object held sacred by the Divine Orders of Lord
Morgfyre, Lord Fain or Lord Raezon is strictly forbidden, as is the
display of any of their Divine symbols.
7) A majority of the Council may vote to render odious persons
contemptible: they are to be listed below. Only a majority vote of the
Council may remove this status.

I am not upset that the rule exists. It just seems to me that, for the most part, people don't care about enforcing it, and so when someone suddenly decides to out of the blue, it seems like they're just doing it to feel special. Also, I'm not LIVING there, I was asked to leave when I was passing through. The reason I brought it up is because a few days prior, I had been wandering the city, looking at shops, talking to various people, etc. Hell, I walked right past a high-ranking Nihilist AND Winnae, and nobody said boo about me leaving.
EDIT: So Esano, does that mean I can petition the council to have my status as 'contemptible person' removed?

If that's the case, then HELP MAGNAGORA needs to be updated. Only merian and elfen are listed as being discriminated against, which means novices choosing kephera have no way of knowing what they're getting into. It's also not really feasible to have someone waste their free reincarnation because of something they couldn't possibly have known.
Unknown2010-07-21 02:36:10
To be fair, Arix, you hadn't walked passed me. I don't need to tell anyone to leave the city to feel special, and I don't need to feel special either. You were picked up on my scent, I didn't recognize you as someone that belonged in/with the city, and then via HONOURS, found that you didn't belong.
Don't get upset because I pay attention and other people don't.

I agree, but it's not within my power to actually edit said scroll (I think). I've never seen anyone complain about Kephera citizens recently though.
Noola2010-07-21 02:49:35
Not to be picky, but are you allowed to keep people from drawing Dross power? I thought the whole reason Dross power was put in was so that folks couldn't be blocked from ever getting any power at all.

Woah, wait, wut?? Crap, I swear I knew the laws, but what the Nil? I can't wear my Ouroboros Sigil or wield my font or wear prayer beads? Or is this STRICTLY dealing with anyone of "contemptible" status?
On that note, why is it that Furrikin are considered "inferior" by so many when the Gods don't actively seek to remove them from Magnagora? Morgfyre's never cared what race I am (to my knowledge, but then again, I'm one of his Lunatic Reavers now, so if he cared, I wouldn't be), so why do so many mortals? Why is it that for so long I was practically stomped on for being a Furrikin? Just because Bollikin was perceived as "weak?" Because I think that's really silly. >.> It sure doesn't keep me from doing my job on a regular basis.
Jigan2010-07-21 03:00:55

Because you're a tiny, furry pansy.
Seriously. The thought of a furrikin being able to rise up and fight back or garner any sort of real power is just laughable at best. Why you're not enslaved in Acknor is beyond me.

He's really an experiment to see what happens if we can train such a weak species to be proper Magnagorians.
