I would just like to point out that Inky should research his facts about temp insanity, curing, and percentages before making a post that looks like he is frothing at the mouth with out a single correct statement coming out.

Independent "or" percentages do not work like that, although lots of people seem to make that mistake and I had to explain to my mum, who's a teacher, that rolling a D20 20 times does not give you a 100% chance to roll a 20. Last I remember the actual number is something like 74%, which is pretty high but totally objectively and subjectively different to 99%.

In addition to what Shiri just posted, you must remember that if you are going to cite Badluck causing commands to fail, Badluck's list of effected commands is not particularly large. You would be better off saying that Illuminati don't produce command denial so much as denial of a handful of set commands (see: focus mind/body/spirit, as I believe Badluck effects all given syntaxes), and then have the same level of denial as any other Hexes user + 2% when it comes to the rest of the commands in the game.


EDIT: And even adding 2% is a foolhardy way to do the math.

Not to mention that if their math was even correct to begin with it would still be wrong, because it would be

Choke has a one second delay. Sap has a half-second delay. Perfectfifth prevents 100% of the commands it's designed to stop. Stupidity and jinx stack to 66% command fail. The average non-bard eq cost is four seconds. This means that, averaged over 100,000 attempts, trying to cast web on Glomdoring takes 14.33 seconds, which is plenty of time for them to writhe out and instakill you with a bard song.

You aren't telling lies, but you definitely aren't using actual, solid information backed up with some mathematical knowledge or at least a lot of testing to support your claims here. It is very sensationalist to say:



because that simply isn't true. You're making something seem wildly better through, to be totally honest, hyperbole. That is incredibly dishonest and deceptive and that isn't what the envoy system is for. If you want to claim temporaryinsanity is 'worlds apart' in terms of strength, you'd better be able to quantify that and prove it. If you aren't being sarcastic about an envoy's job, no, that isn't what an envoy is for and you should probably step down if that is the case. All people are biased, all envoys included, but an envoy should be able to set aside that bias partially to figure not only what is good for his skills but also for the overall health of the game's combat.

Also, last I checked, pennyroyal cures a random affliction, it's focus mind that will prioritize insanity.

I like how he does something (like, not "maybe this could be interpreted as this," but really makes a bald-faced, asinine, grandiose, untrue claim that he couldn't have possibly mistakenly thought was true except for never participating in combat, that can be quoted on this thread), and then restates what he is actually doing sarcastically, like that makes it better somehow.
