Great, i understand. Now is there any difference for bashing? I swear jabbing with rapiers seems to kill faster, but cant be sure

Is there a way, as head of family, to remove other people from the family?

Yes, though it has to be a bannerhouse or larger.
Ileein2010-11-02 20:49:49
Only if you're a Great House, in which case the head of the family can DISOWN.

Nope! Jab/swing is just a matter of style preference for PvE, but if you feel the RNG mysteriously favours your critical rate on one over the other because your gut tells you so, there's no compelling reason not to stick with it.

Ok, that helps. While I'm sure you understand that no city/commune, and no guild, is unambiguously "good" at heart, the organizations that tend to be more benevolent on the surface are New Celest and Serenwilde, with Hallifax and Gaudiguch both somewhere around the middle; they're interesting cases. You've stated you want to avoid overt snuggliness, so I'd suggest keeping in mind that Serenwilde has a reputation for snuggliness, though a second opinion on that would be good.

With that in mind, the more scholarly/spiritual guilds you might want to have a look at are:

The Celestines (New Celest, Guardian): Aesthetically similar to stereotypical 'priest' guilds
The Aquamancers (New Celest, Mage): Manipulators of water, focus on scholarship

The Moondancers (Serenwilde, Wiccan): Mystical aesthetic, focus on community and spirituality

The Illuminati (Gaudiguch, Guardian): Creepy, cult sort of atmosphere, but pleasant enough to novices
The Pyromancers (Gaudiguch, Mage): Manpulators of fire. I'm not sure if they have the same focus on scholarship as the Aquamancers, though.

The Institute (Hallifax, Guardian): Least spiritual and most 'hard-science' of the guardian guilds, focus on SCIENCE. Aesthetically somewhat cliquish and meritocratic.
The Aeromancers (Hallifax, Mage): Manipulators of air, focus on scholarship, esp. philosophy, though there are quite a lot of 'artist' types there.

I know that's a lot, but hopefully this will give you something of an idea of the aesthetic you're looking for!

In addition I would suggest taking a look at the bard guilds. The Spiritsingers in Serenwilde and the Cantors in New Celest

How much timewarp does balestone cause, my dear friends?

DOOP: Someone answered. Disregard.

When changing your size, for the dex/str changes, how do they work? At first it suggests that it works like regular buff points, that is, only the first two points give a boost, after which you need another two points to get the third extra buff point. But then it suggests that size is a one for one deal. So basically

Does the change to stat points given by changing size count as buff points, or are they pure changes to stats?

What all can people do with GMCP? I logged in from within my private manse, and within three seconds, I get a tell from a guild "novice" asking if he can learn from me. Before I can properly figure out what's going on, he moves on and says he's learning from a friend from another org instead. Seriously, what?

Hi guys. I have a number of questions regarding the harmonics skill set. If there's anyone with good experience with these skills, can you please help me? I have no clue how the skillset works, so I'm doing research so I can make a few triggers for it.

Hey Rivius, I am sorry that I haven't been able to test with you, yet, but I hope this helps and if you have questions, let me know and I'll do my best to answer them:

Garnet: Garnet causes passive mana drain, it is incurable in that it is not an affliction and more of an entity that drains your mana when you are hit by it. My tests showed that it drained about 150-200 mana per tick, or twice that if the Researcher has a garnet crystalwand.

Opal: Opal is similar to Garnet, except for ego, drains your ego when you are hit by it. Range of drain is similar to Garnet, as well.

Sapphire: Sapphire causes the following afflictions: anorexia, confusion, stupidity, hallucination, pacification, masochism, addiction, impatience, paranoia, hypersomia, gluttony, dementia, and hypochondria. One per tick, though it will not attempt to give you an affliction that you already have; so, if you have gluttony, it will not tick gluttony and will give something else instead.

Onyx: Onyx causes the following afflictions: vomiting, vapors, paralysis, dizziness, and healthleech. It also will not attempt to give afflictions that you already have.

QUOTE
Also, what skill is this? Is it Shatterplex?

Yes, that is Shatterplex, it causes a large amount of damage and gives you massive timewarp. The timewarp, generally, is only something to worry about if you were timewarped before the Shatterplex to a moderate or higher level.

There's a few other attacks in Harmonics, as well, that you might need:

MalefactGem:

QUOTE
Prav smashes a chunk of dark rock at his feet and red and black smoke roils about him. Tendrils of red and black smoke wrap around you, covering your skin in a sticky film.

This will give paralysis, anorexia, impatience, or loneliness. MalefactGem will not double up, similar to Sapphire and Onyx.

Balestone:

QUOTE
Prav holds the pulsating stone aloft just as it detonates in a soundless explosion of white light.
The white light washes over you, and you stagger back as the balefire erases something deep within you.

This will do some damage - more than wand, less than Shatterplex - and cause a very minor amount of timewarp (approximately 1/4 to 1/3 of a level).

I hope that helps, if you need any others, let me know and I can post them, or contact me in game if you still need to test in the arena.

I've cured rubies in the arena by walking about.

Yeah, rubies can be cured just fine both inside and outside the arena under normal circumstances. The problem comes when you have rubies on you when you exit the arena; usually this happens when a Researcher spins rubies on you and you kill them in the arena, ending the event. Under those circumstances, the only way to get the rubies off after leaving the arena is to Shatterplex them away or wait for them to expire.

The whole (semi-technical) doc can be found here. The only thing in GMCP that can be used to get the players online is the Comm.Channel package, but that one doesn't let you know whenever someone logs in; you need to actually ask Lusty for a list of people online. Can't remember if it's restricted to same-plane only either, but my guess is no (I don't use that specific part of the package myself). The Nexus client updates this list every 20 seconds (I think), so he might just've gotten lucky.

It's also possible to pull an unedited, unrestricted QW list from the website that lists all people on all planes. It even lists people with gems of cloaking and abilities that would otherwise obscure them from a normal list.

Changes to Size are always unweighted, changes to everything else are almost always weighted. This means that being under the effect of Enlarge will ALWAYS add 3 to size, regardless of your current size in relation to base. This will add the (weighted) buff/debuff to str/dex as appropriate, if memory serves. It'll also add/remove max health as appropriate to fit your new size (+/- 50 per point, IIRC)
Arath2010-11-03 20:37:57
Yes. I got that. I just want it confirmed if the strength from changing size is weighted or unweighted. Because if it is weighted, Geburah suddenly became a lot less useful.

For Glom ships? There is no simple reflex. Either code it from someone elses counter and recode it for everyone who counts, or code a counter yourself and use it.
