Hmm, I've definitely been able to centre and indent things in letters before. Books should be the same no? The in-game editors and tools for writing have always been a little weird.

I've formatted several page long documents in Notepad, then pasted them in and had them be totally fine except for like two lines that I can't make work regardless of how much I try, so yeah, a little weird seems to cover it.

Hrm, when I was writing a newspost, I had indents perfectly fine with spaces in the editor, but when I saved it, it had no spaces at the beginning.

I think the easiest way around this for books, at least, is to use a decorative border on each page. It puts something on the beginning of each line and let's you space how you want.
Furien2010-12-26 17:55:32
It might be a Mudlet-particular problem, since the present release has those weird indentation habits on the first line.

When I try to paste a chart that I've written in Notepad, all the extra spacing is lost somewhere. I'd paste an example here, but it seems the forums are doing it too. D:
Anyone know how I'm messing up?

You never want any line to be longer than (I think) 72 or 71 characters, or it'll ruin everything. Make yourself a ruler for formatting. Mine looks like this:

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
(it's 70 characters long)

Intersperse these throughout your document and highlight everything when you're done formatting. If any line, spaces included, extends beyond the end of the ruler, you'll have a problem. Delete excess spaces or reformat the line. When you're happy, delete the rulers (unless they're doubling as decorative borders).

How many creatures does each link on astral spawn? Sometimes I get jumped by 3 out of nowhere, sometimes only 1 shows up. I'm guessing it's between 1 and 3?

1-2

Where those creatures spawn on the map, however, is completely random.

So, let's say you link three times. The first link, you get one creature one room away from the node. It shows up quickly and you kill it. The next link, two creatures spawn, but they are at rooms that border other spheres, as far from you as possible. Before they can reach you, the third link goes off, and you have another 1-2 creatures to content with, which may or may not reach you at about the same time as the other two.

Far-spawning like that can be killer for a weak solo linker who isn't anticipating it to occur now and again, or not paying enough attention to how many critters are showing up between links.

In regards to Shou/Vend: The wiki says its based on the number of people in the sphere ...., so does it scale as more people are on the sphere (but not linking)?

another related question: Is there any way to tell if an astral creature is linked? (aside from it taking longer to kill/hurting you more)

Right, it's 1-2 creatures spawned PER player on the sphere, PER link. Doesn't matter if the other players are flying, burrowed, or not at the node - they will count towards the extra spawns. Those spawns will also be individually stronger, the more people there are on the sphere.

No. Pretty much the only way to tell is if they are using the special mob shielding message that isn't circle/pentagram, or if there are more than 5 mobs roaming the sphere (only five unlinked mobs can ever exist at once).
Lawliet2010-12-26 20:13:42
Only other difference I can think of is that linked monsters don't drop gold but unlinked can. Doesn't really help if you're just wondering if you can take those three eagles or whatever, though.
Sylphas2010-12-27 04:32:13
Non-linked con as "appears to be extraordinarily strong," same as gorgogs and rocs and manticores. Linked can vary. I've seen from "appears to lack strength" up to "exudes an air of overwhelming power".

I don't usually link Astral, since I can't take a double link if they spawn high on the scale.

If I have a non-normal tradeskill (like alchemy, or enchantment or a spec of these) and I'm rogue and forget them temporarily, am I able to reactivate them without being in a guild that would normally allow those trades?

Question about writhe times: do they still depend on size stat? (in other words, diminishing can give faster writhe times?)

If I rune my athame, then offer it, can I get it back immediately by summoning a new one, or do I have to wait for reset? I suppose I could just offer with my torc instead, if need be, but I'm still curious.

I THINK you can summon it back so long as you summon it back quickly, I remember when I made my staff an artifact, you could put it in a Nexus but if you summoned it back really quickly you wouldn't have to expend power.

As long it comes back before reset! Athames don't cost power, so that's not an issue.

I'm curious: between Cloud Trill and Prismatic Lucidian, is there a 'better' race for aeromancer/researcher?
