The black roses are involved in a quest, yes.

Is it the epic?

Also, there are tulips that can be found in the Cave of Beauty. Are these a quest item?

They are convenient for the bookwurm quest, but that's the only use I've seen for them, outside of just having flowers.

Is my character name, Helsing, too OOC? I wanted to be Albacoram van Helsing, which would be a merian spoof of Abraham van Helsing, but it was suggested to me that it would be too OOC.

I was considering requesting a change to Nilsing, Hell -> Nil. Then I could be Albacorum von Nilsing. Though that name doesn't strike me as being quite as good. Also, with Nil in it unabbreviated, I'm worried it might sound a little forced. Also, people might expect him to be from Magnagora (he's a Cantor).

A third possible name change was Felsing, though I don't have a good fish name to go with that one yet. Also, "Fel" isn't even a term here to my understanding.

What do you all think? smile.gif

Well... To me, any name with an obvious reference to a book or a movie makes my eyes cringe. For instance, someone naming themselves Parry and starting the name Hotter.

I'm confused, the character's name is going to be Nilsing or Albacoram?

I think either one of them is fine, really. Even putting the two together in some way (Albacoram Nilsing, Nilsing Albacoram, whichever). I do not think the van or von is a good idea. I'm not sure it's possible to even have a three part name (it might be and I just can't remember, but I don't think so) for one thing, and for another, having it in there does make the name a little too OOC.

So, in short, without the von or van, Nilsing and Albacoram are fine, IMO. With it, a bit too OOC.

That's just my opinion though! biggrin.gif

Take a look at our old crowd. Then look back. Then google it. A solid 40% of people in Lusternia crib their names from some form of literature, I'd say. tongue.gif
