Msg'd the patron, the patron told us to talk to guild tutor, sent in the builder mob, talked to the builder mob, guildhall refurnished. Started OOCly, finished ICly.

Sounds good. Thanks!

I think that's what we did too. Really, people are so afraid of talking to their patrons. In a situation like this, if I didn't know, I'd send an OOC message saying, "Hey, we've got this really cool idea to do this, except we don't know how to go about it... where should we begin?". I trust that the Admin won't bite me for it.

Eh, still seems to me like the shinies aren't a means to an end, for many, they are the end themselves. confused.gif But that's just my opinion too.

Well, if they are, so what? confused.gif Everyone plays Lusternia differently. cool.gif

This. I've been a guild/House leader of one sort or another on two IRE games so far, and I've never had a problem messaging (or, in one extreme instance, emailing) the Patron OOCly and telling them what's up. Really, that's the way many RP-intensive MUSHes work: you'll arrange some IC interactions OOCly, even if it's just saying 'ok, here's what we're doing, let's see what comes out of it.'

I'm fairly positive this HAD to be done that time when the Shadowdancers and Moondancers together called down both of their respective Spirits in Faethorn. It was an AMAZING thing to witness, but I know it could not have been done if one or both of them didn't OOC message each other and their patrons saying "This is what we'd like to do. Sound like a good idea?".

And Maylea just had a conversation with Ev yesterday about a new ritual being planned, and the nature of it couldn't help but be somewhat OOC. Some things just can't be done IC.

Probably been asked before, but if I was to use feathers in a design, what things can you use? I'm guessing trill/angels? anything else?

Of the birds listed, most of them didn't fit the "bird" comm a while ago, but I bugged it, and maybe they do now. I haven't checked. But the easiest bird to find for feathers has always been chickens (except if you're in Hallifax, but pigeons were one of those that didn't used to work). Wakabi is also available if you want a more "stylish" feather.

Has anyone ever made a clan, or is there one, that announces when plays and poetry readings (do we have those?) are taking place in Lusternia, so that people can show up to them?

And would such a thing even be feasible, or would most orgs not let those of opposing orgs in to see the plays?

How does one approach their patron about guild expansions in a manner that's actually, well, IC?

(Note, especially, that as far as the Illuminati is concerned we aren't actually 'expanding', moreover 'excavating', so I guess I just have to hint that I found blueprints around the Pyramid suggesting that we can find feature x in location y? :S )

Emails are a good way of doing it.

I made SOC for that, but usually I'm the only one who announces stuff in it, and I never lured anyone else into really doing anything in it. If someone else wants to join and actually post/talk, I'd be keen to let 'em in, regardless of org.

Even if Yourorg won't allow Enemyorg's members to come see stuff at Yourstage, it'll still end up at the World Stage, so there's no reason it'd make sense to limit this.

Uhm. I've always approached Nocht ICly about guildhall expansions. Just say that you have an idea for addition to the guildhall, and say you'll send a letter with a sketch (actually the description of it), then patron should (in my experience) send a message to you about what the cost would be (usually wood/marble and lots of gold sovereigns) and ask if you'll accept the cost, do so, then wait for the builder mob like Salvation said. Mob shows up, you give him the materials and gold, and voila -- a new guildhall room. Or three.

EDIT: Although, whoops. I just read your post properly. Excavations would probably be... different, yes. My apologies! That ^ is for future reference, then. Though if all else fails, you could say that you had a dream that you believe was actually looking into the guildhall in past, send the "sketch" of what you saw in the dream, etc.

On an unrelated note, could someone post a description of Gorgulu (to be used for a Bardic)?

CODE
Though Gorgulu the Devourer of Souls is counted as among the Demon Lords of Nil, there is nothing about this monstrosity that hints at having an intellect, at least not one that is commonly understood as sentient. Also known as the Mouth of a Thousand Hungers, Gorgulu is a seething, amorphous mass that surges with corruption, filth and tainted putrescence. There always seems to be mouths of various sizes and species that form and salivate upon the inchoate blob that is Gorgulu. The mouths are fed by appendages that grow from the slime and pus, often appearing as tentacles or giant tongues, but sometimes as fully formed humanoids connected to Gorgulu by a cord, like half-aborted miscarriages.
Gorgulu the Devourer of Souls almost glows with nearly god-like power.
He weighs about 4093 pounds.
He is loyal to the Demon Lords of Nil.
You cannot see what Gorgulu the Devourer of Souls is holding.

Hi everyone! I have a simple question. Why is it every time I try to reset my password for my first forum account I get an error saying "Your password field was not complete", thus not allowing me to finish the reset? I get the message after clicking the link in the password recovery information email.

Thanks for the help!

Everyone has a different style, really. When Celest or one of its guilds wants something, they generally just send me an e-mail or a message asking for ideas, I'll give them some suggestions, see what they want, and more often than not, I'll give them something of my own design (with their opinions taken into account). I've never had a complaint from Celest or the Celestines, and they seem to love (their new guildhall/the city gardens/the athenaeum), so something must be right! cool.gif

Frankly, it can be very hard to try and describe something in an IC fashion like an addition, and I don't think any of us would be upset if we got an e-mail regarding a patron request. It's also a lot easier to express what you want, and for us to understand what you want. cool.gif

How can you have a half-aborted miscarriage? I am puzzling over this, it is quite puzzling!

Well, my guess would be that a completely aborted miscarriage would come completely out. Would be detached. There wouldn't be an umbilical cord leading back insde cause the placenta and everything would be expelled too. But a half-aborted miscarriage is still attached by that cord mentioned in the description.

I demands a deletion of this post! Noola is not allowed to post things that conjure up macabre and horrific images to mind. You're suppose to be a ray of sunshine, damnit!

When trying to submit my Bardic, does it matter that the "Bard:" slot (above "Title:") shows nothing, even though I'm clearly logged in? My name doesn't show when trying to submit an Artisanal either, and it's not a browser thing because I tried on Chrome, Firefox and IE... And a friend is experiencing it too, intermittently.

I just want to make sure that I don't get screwed over. Can I submit all the same even if my name doesn't show up where it should?
