Just a quick question about aetherflares... Is there any way to tell when they are going to be? Like Astrology or anything? Or is just random time between random months?

What you do is check the time between when the last two occurred then project that to make a best guesstimate for next event. Then, once you are in your window of "it could happen any time" what you do is essentially leave yourself logged in whenever possible. As soon as you are unable to do so, because of sleep, work/class, commute, flares will occur then. This method also works for determining the next revolts.
Edit: This method is for North America and Europe only. If you are in Australia or the Philippines they will just be between 7-9p.m.

Aether flares happen every 12 days with a bit of random factor thrown in. So theoretically they will always happen during the same window of about Dioni to Avechary.

Also, the bubbles that get set free aren't random. There are 3 groups that are on a set rotation. So while there is only 12 days between flares any bubble you win will be your's for about 36 days before it goes free again.

To answer my own question botulinum does not decrease hunger level on application, which means you need to stack it until they vomit, which makes me a sad panda.

I've played around with botulinum and it would not be a good choice for beast spit.

The vomiting aff causes vomiting on some kind of random or universal timer, sometimes taking as much as 30 seconds between tics, so unless you are super lucky the target will almost always have time to cure it before they actually vomit. Assuming they don't shrug the poison. Even if hidden, the timer makes it difficult to coordinate and is not really reliable in combat. Should the target actually barf though it does cause a fair amount of hunger and damage (it did about 1k to me).

edit: also, not really something worth trying to stack as your target either has the aff or not.

Where are good places to get karma?

I like the timing of flares, personally. smile.gif

Throw devil fish at Ladantine, throw quinotaurs at Lanikai. Most everything else I find effective isn't really restricted to a "place" (mass corpse offering, org power quests, esteem building and offering). The Delport quest can be done pretty quickly for a decent hit of karma too.

The Golden Lotus quest in Tosha gives a pretty big chunk of karma and a nice handful of gold. And there's influencing involved so you get some esteem, too.
Kiradawea2011-04-06 12:29:35
If you complete Scorpion Caverns quest, you get a very good chunk of karma, as well as esteem from influencing the scorpions. The karma from Hallifax power quest is pretty bad compared to that of Celest, don't know how it is in Gaudi, but it's karma and it's quick.
Aerotan2011-04-06 12:51:16
Celest and Mag are decent Karma because they're multipart, and each part gives a bit of karma and experience for each iteration. In Celest's case, it's consistently 10 per run per part, which adds up quick.

Bards/Scholars/pilgrims are good for karma too, for the same reason. A little bit a lot of times.

1. Buy/make 100% esteem-imbued items.
2. ???
3. Karma!

(Yes, I know step number two.)

Help out Ladantine in the Sea of Despair. That is pretty good karma for fairly minimal effort.

Generally speaking a lot of lower / mid level quick quests. Or once you can hunt fast enough clear a bunch of tunnel trash in the Undervault and offer it up. Makes your Divine happy too.

Thanks.

When I use the command cartel *cartel* I'm given a list of members, but the list only has two members, when the just finished election clearly shows that there is at least four active and voting members.

Also, how do the trademaster commands work? I can do DESIGN to get a list of commands, but I can't seem to find an explanation for how they work, or even how to perform the actual design submission.
Diamondais2011-04-06 20:19:34
I think Cartel shows logged in members, but I can't go on to check and its been awhile since I last did.

This is correct, Govna.
Lendren2011-04-06 20:35:50
There's also CARTEL MEMBERS for the full list.
Arath2011-04-06 20:46:46
That explains it. Though Cartel members isn't that useful since it shows a ton of alts who hasn't been around for ages.

So how does Design work. How do I properly submit a design?
Unknown2011-04-06 20:59:21
First, you check DESIGN PATTERNS FORGING to find what type of pattern you want (shield/helmet/katana/etc)
Then, you DESIGN REQUEST FOR EMBERSCALE
You'll then get a new and generic design in your design/cartel list with the design ID number.
You can then edit the design by doing DESIGN APPEARANCE/DROPPED , and DESIGN EXAMINED, which will bring you to the editor.
You'll then want to change the commodities needed, so you'll do DESIGN COMMODITIES (add extra commodities as required, just follow the way commodities look like when you look at a design.
After that, you can change the design properties, such as DESIGNEDBY, MAKECARTEL/MAKEPUBLIC, MORTALREVIEW/NOMORTALREVIEW.
And finally, when you want to submit, just DESIGN SUBMIT.
Arath2011-04-06 21:03:20
Okay. Last question for now. Can you use the obsidian stones in the Gaudi power quest for Obsidian, or must you use fire beetles?
