A cost of five or six credits, maybe! If you have a spatula and you buy from Glom's comm shop, one credit buys 1866 feed. Another credit buys you a month and a half of stable fees. If you keep a beast for six OOC years, it becomes worth about 50cr. (Although, if you sell flowers for 25 gold, flower pots pay for themselves in just shy of 18 years, so that might be about par for a novelty thing.)
What would really make it cool is being able to set stable fees that go to your pocket.

You're assuming you only have one beast.
That would be cool though, but unlikely. I don't think any other arties make you money with no further effort on your part.
Xavius2010-07-17 19:13:13
If you have a mostly private manse and a spare clan, you could extract fees that way (assuming that there are no stable fees if you have this artifact).

Well, here's the thing: all stables are able to put up beasts as wares, but org specific stables will only sell to members of that org, which only leaves the Reserve as an option for people who might want to keep their beast in a place where it is publicly available to anyone. If you can get a manse stable, and put it up in a manse shop, and not pay stable fees on it but have mounts up for sale along with feeds and reagents in the shop... I don't know, I think that'd be a pretty nifty.
There's a lot of possibility with that artifact, but it is difficult to judge just what you would and wouldn't be able to do with it.

Okay next round summarized (sorry if I missed any)!
Do the attunement planimeters, alcohol charms, and squad artifacts stack if you get more than one? How much of a bonus do you get for the alcohol charms?
Can the Temporal Freezer be moved at will? or is it stuck on one place?
Does the cloak work on mobs? (Pretty sure no mobs don't bleed ever but ok)

They do not stack.
Yes, it can be carried around.
No, it does not.

Still no answers about stables.

Because I don't have them, sorry.
Edit: Also, the alcohol charms would behave as an alcohol racial resistance, that would stack with existing racial resistances.

Wait, are you sure, because what's described is not really the same as the dwarf/dracnari racial perk.

I'm fairly certain... At least, I thought that's what Estarra said the other day.
Veyrzhul2010-07-18 11:51:43
Would it also stack with the existing dwarf racial resistance and thus increase beyond level 3?

I still really want clarification on how the Cloak of Thorns is triggered. If it affects monks and warriors more than anyone else, it should really be taken down or modified before the auctions end...

Yeah I agree.
Estarra2010-07-18 22:09:50
Regarding stables, the owner and his/her allies should be able to stable their beasts there at a cost of 75 gold per month (half of city/commune stables).
Regarding the cloak of thorns, it will affect monks and warriors more insofar as they generally damage more than other archetypes (if that was the question).

The value of the cloak just instantly went down. Why is it at 500, I'd have paid 300 at most now.

I don't understand why? Judging by Estarra's statement, everything that's same-room range (symbol cast, same-room staffcast, blast, etc) will trigger the CoT (monks/warriors will more by virtue of their faster/more common attacks). Seems like the value would be going up as a result.
Unknown2010-07-19 00:46:46
For me, it's not so much as the value going up or down as much as it is that monks and warriors just have one more thing to deal with when attacking someone.
Something like Timeslip or even Acrobatics dodging triggers on any sort of attack, except maybe psionic ones, whether they do damage or not.
It's also unfair that the bleeding synergizes far better with Glomdoring's abilities than anyone else's, as that's a sort of theme in a couple guilds there. Why not just make the cloak rebound the same damage type and source back onto the caster or something instead?

Oh, I actually misread the answer, I thought Estarra said that it will only work against monk/warriors attacks, not that it'll tend to tick on monk/warrior attacks more because of what they have to do to kill. Carry on!
Though, it's a bit disingenuous to say that the cloak of thorns is unfair because Glomdoring can make use of it more than other classes, that's like saying the rune of ethereal summoning is unfair because it makes ethereal ents stronger and not tracker dogs, or that the charisma rune is unfair because only psionic mages or bards really have a use for it.

Sure, it benefits anyone who wears it. Glomdoring just synergizes with it more.
Unknown2010-07-19 02:10:57
I can't remember the last time 100 bleed more got me some sweet killz, but to each their own.
ongaku2010-07-19 02:26:29
I bid on the wrong artifact, then I set my max bid on the one I wanted way higher than I meant to. *sigh* I'm bad at this.
Acrune2010-07-19 02:27:56
Yeah, I'm kind of surprised there isn't a confirm message.
