I would like to invite all people disillusioned with Serenwilde to Magnagora.
Except the snugglies and dramacausers. And elfen. And kephera. And merian, however few. You can stay there.

I sometimes wish I didn't move Sadie out of Mag when she was a novice, but her childhood friend freaked that everyone he saw passing by the Megalith was naked, so he dragged her off to Serenwilde.

That said, short of admin intervention or the random chance of people quitting or orghopping in numbers, I don't know if there's anything that is going to get to where Glomdoring and Serenwilde are about something again. Maybe the best thing for Serenwilde is if enough people quit, Glomdoring will get bored of kicking the four remaining people and leave it alone long enough for it to recover. However, it seems Glomdoring contains enough people who will never get bored of kicking even the most helplessly tiny force of newbies right now that I think it'd have to be down to zero. So I don't think even that's going to do it. I guess we just wait for a bunch of people to orghop at once, or the admins to step in. Until then, most of Seren's major players have faded away already and more continue to do so.
Aaah, everyone has been saying that's the only way lately Everyone has forgotten the whole purpose of being in Serenwilde, and it's turned into some sort of harbour for sillies. I like that Glomnomnom and Mag have this 'FOR the Glomdoring/Engine' purpose-thing-RP-thing. That, to me, is the kind of attitude I like!

But then you wouldn't be a Talnara.

I remember the times when Glomdoring was at the rock bottom and domination was a dream of a dream of a dream. With that said, anything is possible.
Also, generally (I think), if PersonX wants to move into Glom, there's a slight discount in gold payments. Sometimes PersonX has to collect enough fae/essence/esteem to get unenemied/get in instead of gold payments.

That is irony right there.
I don't know yet why people dislike Serenwilde as much as they do. However there is always hope
(psst Shuyin, how much to get you to move to Seren )

I still love Serenwilde and the people who live there. It's only a few people who live elsewhere that I dislike.
What ever happened to the people who supposedly migrate around to the underdog organizations to balance things out? They all went to Glomdoring and stayed there.
And, attrition sucks because everyone has to think only of themselves and what's better for them. When it's more than just a few key people, it's devastating to the organization. I'm personally not demoralized unless I've just experienced a dozen small raids in under two hours or come to the forums to read about all the current evil that's afoot.

There was never any "the people who migrate around to the underdog organisation", that was Shuyin, once. Then a bunch of others followed him and stayed there for the free winning.

A blood tithe is always acceptable.

I see the underdog migration trend from time to time. I've heard people say that they switched to the smaller orgs for the challenge of building them back up again (and for the obvious rewards that might come out of that). We just haven't seen the trend shifting back for a long time now.

Personally, I find all the huge negativity from certain people one of the more off-putting things in Serenwilde. There's some other issues too, but honestly its not as hopeless as some of you people try to make it sound, and I have fun with it for the most part.
Nienla2010-07-19 15:07:44
I think people avoid Serenwilde because you only need to spend ten minutes in the organization and you'll hear someone go off on CT about some stupid subject like cookies.
When I created Nienla for the first time, she was in Serenwilde as a Spiritsinger. When I spent only a few minutes listening to the discussion on CT, I promptly entered: suicide, agree.
Edit: At this point, it's going to take the administration of Serenwilde laying down the hammer when silly convos like that come up. Or the leadership taking a more aggressive role in laying the hammer down on snugglers. Not to mention, Serenwilde's potential of RP with ancestral worship and Moon's winter is completely overshadowed by the snuggling masses.
Arguing that Serenwilde has no discipline at all either is folly. I've seen people with the titles of Cutemancer and Pondermancer. Really.

And yet despite people have been claiming that and similar things for 6 years to no observable detriment to the organisation.
Unknown2010-07-19 15:11:04
I've been in Serenwilde for about two centuries, and the CT/GT aethers are not nearly as inane as people make them out to be. It is a game, and I enjoy a bit of lighthearted discussion and humor, even if it's just talking about cookies. It's not like it goes on for hours and happens with extreme regularity...

I'm pretty sure I could get a few people saying that they would not join Serenwilde due to the lack of discipline and the overwhelming snuggler presence there.
Unknown2010-07-19 15:12:35
And, for every one of those, I could find a person that wouldn't join Glomdoring because of how violent everyone is there.

I'd rather have a violent and productive bunch than a bunch of snugglers that sit at your Nexii doing absolutely nothing except talking about inane subjects. The dreamweavings don't lie.
Shiri2010-07-19 15:16:10
I'm pretty sure I can also get a wide variety of people to say a wide variety of things if it'll win a forum argument, but I really don't need to because the observable evidence is that despite complaints of that sort of thing for many years, people who don't actually participate in it insofar as it ever actually happens have managed to make Serenwilde an org worth playing in for just as many years, and that the decline in those people has no causal relationship with your complaint. It's most telling that it's those people that are being driven away by the other nonsense that's been brought up, too - if there is even any correlation it's probably that less of the alternative is left!
EDIT: And I should move this since it's still cluttering up the thread, cutoff point will be arbitrary as it's gone on for too long!
EDIT: Ok, most of the rest is kind of scattered back too far, and I had to cut up the unenemying thing, but that discussion should be done now so whatever.

It's all a matter of perspective, obviously. You say you're being productive, but I say it's destructive behavior. So, you stay where you are, I'll stay where I am, and we'll both be happier for it... maybe.
Noola2010-07-19 15:18:21
What's wrong with a discussion about cookies on the commune aether? Seriously. I don't think there's anything wrong with it at all, honestly. Not every single thing over the CT needs to be dire business. For that matter, who says you can't discuss inane things AND be productive?
Felicia2010-07-19 15:37:51
I sometimes suspect that Glomdoring and Serenwilde are too polarized, and that each organization would be somewhat better off if they tended less to extremes.
I don't really like "snugglers," due to a distaste for "glomping," bad grammar, and continual silly behavior — which all constitute bad role-playing that distracts me from the game's atmosphere. I can't claim to know if Serenwilde actually has even one snuggler, because I've never been there, but many people perceive Serenwilde to be the snuggler hub. Reputations can be a powerful force all by themselves.
On the other hand, I do enjoy a bit of levity and chatter, if played well, and Glomdoring has only rare pearls of that, and/or a few people who are especially gregarious (Amani and Siam come to mind). Other than that, it's severe people engaging in severe activities, all business most of the time. I can be a really severe person myself at times, so I know it when I see it.
None of these sorts of people are bad in and of themselves... except possibly particularly annoying snugglers, but as I say, it seems too polarized to me.
And yes, I'm comparatively new, and still hermiting a bit at the moment. But that's why I'm offering my perspective — I'm not hugely deep into things just yet.
