Guildmasters get aided to things? Must be nice.

It's not like I'd go berserk and slaughter people. But it's going to be hard to say "You just toadcursed someone making out at the nexus who rudely refused people asking them politely to move somewhere else, we're going to shun you and your guild and make your life hell." I break rules all the time, but people tend not to notice if I'm just following common sense instead.

I am not really saying you should or should not be punished if you do, i was commenting more on the 'they can't do anything except kicking out'. But if the council were so inclined they could, it will also depend on how much they like you wether they make a big deal out of it.

It should also be noted guildmasters can be punished in less extreme manners like powerblocks, banned from credit sales, being executed, banned from coming near the nexus, etc.

Any time Aubrey has tried to lay down some discipline or common sense, people whine that she's too strict, and since she's only a GA, not a Minister or Council member, there's really not a lot she can do, especially since it's usually outside her guild/jurisdiction. The Council just ignores her and the little brats just laugh and continue their idiocy. This is a big reason I rarely play her anymore. What's the point? She's not going to make a difference, when 99% of Serens like things the way they are. She can't up and leave like others have done, so she's just not engaged in things anymore.

You're married to Sylphas, go bug him to do it. And yes, you can up and leave. And probably should if you're GA but don't want to play. Active GA's are vital.

I know Celest ignored 'lesser' guild leaders for a while (bards and monks while they were not populated). This can be done by simply not aiding them to anything and not inviting them to meetings and clans.

The rallying really depends how far you are willing to go. I believe the aquamancers where once considered outcasts of Celest because of Mistie or some such (I was not around back then so it is all second hand knowledge)

You have to know how many people support him really, it is entirely possible that a well populated guild would remove a bad guildmaster by just influencing key members. Less populated guilds may be considered largely irrelevant and you can really go to work on them in terms of screwing them over.

If however a large guild supports him you have to consider the fact that you either change the law or kick him out.

The Mistie thing did happen, but that was before anything was cemented (first few weeks of open beta), so I'm not really willing to count it. I think the admin also sat on that one just to make sure it didn't get anywhere.

@Vendetta: some of the causes are very identifiable, and Lendren has been elaborating on them for a while now. Part of it is that even though Glomdoring may not be a direct cause of some of the precise complaints people have, there is a certain strangulation being applied that has made some of the people previously able to stabilise that atmosphere give up on the org. Cheerful people who might get labelled and dismissed "snugglers" by someone not actually in the org have coexisted quite happily with more serious groups in the past but that isn't happening as much now as a result. Finding the right solution is much less obvious, but it's pretty easy to tell the wrong ones when you see them, which is why I'm all up in this thread. ninja.gif

is long overdue some smacking though. There's snugglers, and then there's snugglers.

QUOTE (Vendetta Morendo @ Jul 19 2010, 01:22 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Maybe I'm just blind or stupid, but what exactly is the problem? If people are touting that the issue is not Glomdoring, but Serenwilde itself, but cannot extend past a nebulous "Seren is too snuggly, Seren hasn't been Seren", there's little you can do. Seren's been accused of being too snuggly since the get-go (and it certainly wasn't stopping them once upon a time), and Seren not being Seren is even more ambiguous.

It feels like people can't put their finger on just what the issue is, or simply don't want to.

Back then, there were snuggles, but there was also solid combat/defense, from what I gather (keeping in mind I only joined about 7 months ago). Now there's only snuggling and drama. I think drama is just as bad a problem as snuggling, really. If you don't want to see the affection, don't stand at Mother, easy. But the drama extends everywhere. We're more spiteful toward each other than our supposed enemies. It's like a preschool where the adults just sit there and sigh and do nothing about it. Ijen finally left but he is a prime example of what made Serenwilde a headache. If people in charge just told idiots to knock it off when they acted up, and did something like disfavour them if they refused to behave, problem solved. But no one's willing to do that, so problem continues.
Noola2010-07-19 17:39:24
So, how strict is that no killing law? Like what would the punishment be if you broke it?
Unknown2010-07-19 17:39:28
Just...disfavour them. While there are certain...programs which are instituted...you can always just express your displeasure openly.

CITY DISFAVOR GREEAN YOU'RE A FOUL ONE. MISTER GREEAN. YOU'RE A NASTY WASTY SKUNK! YOUR HEART IS FULL OF UNWASHED SOCKS, YOUR SOUL IS FULL OF GUNK, MISTER GREEEAAAAAN! The three words that describe you are as follows, and I quote, "STINK, STANK, STUNK!"

I do ask him to do it sometimes but one council member always doing it, with the rest of the council opposed, doesn't work. They yell at him or reverse decisions, he's outnumbered, he ends up just looking like the bad guy. What needs to happen is actual cooperation among a mature council. As for me, no I can't up and leave. I can't afford it. Besides, Serenwilde - the forest itself, not the lovely people inhabiting it - is Aubrey's home. To move her would be to go against her RP. I do log on every day and keep up with GA duties. That's pretty much all Aubrey does anymore. Yesterday I logged on, spent three hours doing nothing but guild work, then logged off. The GA work is pretty much the only thing keeping me logging on her at all, since Sylphas is busy with RL stuff lately.
Aubrey2010-07-19 17:42:54
Uh, Kia, Aubrey can't CDF. She's only GA. Not Council, not Minister. It's literally impossible. Trust me, I've tried.

And Noola, the no-killing law is enforced selectively like anything else. When Sivamet killed a commune mate because the commune mate was kissing Sivamet's fiance, she got nothing. When Ijen attacked a commune mate because he thought the commune mate wasn't doing a sufficient job defending (and this was during the raid defense), he got nothing. I don't know why Sivamet got away with it, but I know why Ijen did: Rhaell was CL and they were best buds. We have a more fair CL now but she's not able to be active right now... sad.gif

City Rank 6 has favour/disfavour, get that, win! laugh.gif

(I know your pain, GA's one of the only reasons I'm still signing on Mieari)
Razenth2010-07-19 17:45:13
Then here's my suggestion to you, Aubrey. You say it would be against her RP. Well you are frustrated and angry. Take that anger and hate and malice and say that Aubrey IG is angry and frustrated and fed up with all the snugglers and weakness and indecision and dithering in the Moonhart Circle and what Serenwilde has become, and that you've seen the Night and jump ship and join Glom. Then grief the hell out of all the people that were pissing you off.

Remember, that ultimately, the actions and feelings of the player drive the RP of the character, not the other way around, despite what tabletop roleplaying games everywhere want you to believe.

... Okay wtf. I could've swore I couldn't before. Maybe I'm thinking of ostr... no wait, I can do that too. Wow. Umm thanks! whip.gif

EDIT: Razenth, it's more like the fact that Aubrey loves the forest itself so much that she's unwilling to abandon it to the care of the idiots. She'd rather see the populace improve. Also, again, MONEY. sad.gif

I've broken it before. The result was a commune disfavor (for both of us) while also privately being told the kid deserved it. Probably would be worse if you did it repeatedly though.

This, especially the second sentence.

people often ask me why I have so many alts. I've never had a demigod character because I don't put enough time into one. It's because I'm easily pissed off, and apathy is one of the main things I despise. See: Pesukaru's posts to Celest if you have an alt there. I hate that people don't give a censor.gif and want to kill them, but I can't because...... Celest has laws. Laws that need to be worked on.

I'm sorry, I'm not making fun. But, all this time you had the weapon in your hand and didn't realize it. It's kinda funny. Hadn't you ever looked at COMMUNE PRIVS? But, now that you know you can, you should go forth and disfavor! cheer.gif

Nah, because I think when you were in Celest you actually acted like you give a damn when people raided.

I hate the people who hide in manses during raids, but come out when city credit sales/contests with prizes/shiny things fall from the sky.
Everiine2010-07-19 18:03:43
By the way, Ev has been told by perhaps a handful of people IG that they were unhappy with the situation in Serenwilde, and it usually was a complaint about a specific leader (which switches as new leaders take over). If it all stays on the forums, well, nothing will get changed.
