If Blizzard is smart, they will use the fact that they are releasing three "games" instead of two expansion packs to try out the innovations, and make that second game and maybe the third one too severable from the first. Because the game has only been out for a week or two, and enthusiasm for the updated graphics approach already seems to be winding down with the public.

From what I understand there are at least going to be new units and so on - it'll be treated like expansions, but with a more boring campaign setup than original SC/BW. So while that's not miserable, there won't be any fixes to the core engine issues.

They're expansions that cost more, basically. Which is exactly what Bobby Kotick's business strategy is.

Wtb the original starcraft mission briefings. Right now I am not a fan of how they're doing...this story telling thing. It doesn't feel like I'm a person sitting in on a meeting between the leaders liek it did in the first one, atleast that's how it always felt to me.

I really, really liked it.

Not only for how Kerrigan, and Nova, looked, but for how Jimmy and Tychus looked, and how things went.

Jim and Tychus looked like they've been through hell and back, and aren't pretty boys. While Horner looks like a Captain in a space navy should, clean and untouched by the rigors of war.

I will say I loved the story. A lot of people will say it's how it's presented, but that's just bubbles to me. Do I like country music? No. Does it fit? Oh so very yes. People had different accents, people acted like people, and not puppets to the story. As far as I'm concerned, while they could have done a few things better, it was done well. I liked being able to look at a few things, and read more into the history and see some Blizzard humour at work, not just "This is how the mauraders work" but, what, 43% have never been accused of a violent crime, and only 23% were murderers?

The graphics were wonderful. They really were, and I'm leaving the aforenoted females out of this. The units themselves moved smoothly, and nicely, and I liked how there were a few different deaths rather than the same one, over and over again, and the gibs added a nice touch. Might have been over used, but seeing protoss armour and terran tires go flying was lovely. Their cut-scenes were prettied up a bit so they were nice, but not overly fancy, while the cinematics blew me away. I loved one right before the last battle. You know the one I'm talking about.

All in all, things could have been done better, but that's not what I care about. The game that lies before us is, from what I can tell, solid. The gameplay works. The graphics are good. The music is excellent. DRM has nothing to do with it. Do I like it? No. But I'm not going to judge a game and it's content based on the fact that my sister has to play on a guest account.

Game is good, packaging and delivery of the game, as well as how the players access it needs improvement.

Also, Tychus is the butt-monkey in one cinematic. I loved that one, and so did my grandpa when he saw what happened.

By butt monkey, you mean the end scene for Ghost of a Chance?

Once registered, you must log in to play, and SCII checks in with Battle.net periodically. If your Internet connection drops (for example), you get booted to the main login screen. This is for single-player campaigns, mind you.

Actually, you don't need to log in to play the single-player campaign. If you boot up the game and it notices that there's no internet connection, then it'll ask if you just want to play offline. To be fair, I'm not sure what happens when your connection drops, but I doubt it'll just boot you back to the login screen.

It's also impossible to maintain more than one saved game, so you can't really let your little brother, best friend or aunt play your copy of StarCraft II without messing with your progress.

This is also not true. My boyfriend's two younger brothers have their own save files on one account. I'm not sure where you got that, honestly.

Everything else is more or less true, though, but none of it bothers me, really. I'm really loving this game so far, even if I'm terrible at it. biggrin.gif

Yes. I can keep watching it over and over again.

My understanding is the storyline was actually planned since Starcraft itself was made. It's definitely been fleshed out more recently, but it's always been intended for it to go the route it is. I can't say I'm entirely pleased (I'll agree that it has a much 'softer' tone than the previous games), but what did we expect? For them to annihilate Kerrigan and the swarm? Or that the swarm would consume all? It was pretty obvious something had to change, otherwise the story would be a bit bland and greatly predictable. Maybe I'm just a lot more forgiving than some? ninja.gif

Given what's been stated to be the topic of the next expansion, my presumption is that it didn't entirely do what they thought, but rather it freed her from the inherent madness of her transformation. She's still the same zerg Queen of Blades, but it's old Kerrigan, mentally.

I'm certainly going to be waiting in line for the next expansion set!

It's not fun unless there is definite genocide. *delayed*
