I think buying back the +1 stats is a little ridiculous, personally. The 'reward' of 'achieving' demigod has been so nerfed into the floor, and it only opens up a further essence grind to get any meaningful skills. At least give the +2 back - it's not a significant factor in combat, but it's a huge alleviation to the new grind requirement.
And delete divinefire.
And delete divinefire.
Demigods have +1 innately (same as titans) and can buy the +2 variously. It's weighted so they can have +1 dex, +1 con, +1 str but not divinefire - or however you wish to consider your weights.

Man, I must be the only one LIKE divinefire. It's what I use when a slivven goes ballistic on me cause my curing sucks

I believe we're giving a week for cities and communes to make decisions on whether or not to adjust their numbers of Vernals.
from now? is it in a news post or something that I missed? The newspost for for endgame changes didn't mention anything, so just looking for a headsup I guess

Most people aren't using it for slivvens.

Nah, I like it as well. When you're randomly jumped, you just divinefire and run like heck.

Ah, if only everyone else in life was as simple peacefully minded as Ssaliss and I are. We could have our cake and eat it too!

Divinefire hasn't changed. We felt the new cost for divinefire balanced its power.
It'll make it a rarer thing yeah, but really doesn't balance the ability itself. I really thought we had stressed this enough in the review thread, please delete divinefire. Or at least make it bashing only by removing the affliction and health/mana/ego curing.
Ssaliss2010-08-10 00:59:32
Yeah... Also, it's very nice for exploring dangerous places. Just pop it up and run through the nasties.

I understand that, but what I'd like to see are the stats back, divinefire deleted (modified?), and demigods spending their essence on the flavour skills of their choice.
Edit: I suppose, at the moment, my main issue is that all of this feels like I'm required to harvest millions of essence, otherwise, what did I get demigod for? In my opinion (the above), it removes the perceived requirement and makes the grind optional for the purpose of flavour instead of necessary to get back all I've lost.
Also, I agree with Placeus about enemy territory deaths for those of us without a huge essence stockpile.

Regardless of who said anything in other threads (and generally it's the same handful of people who like to post often and vociferously), ultimately it's up to the admin to make the final decision and this is the call we made.

I feel much the same as Razenth and Aliod. Lots of us don't have time to spend grinding for XP to fund these large essence costs.
That said, when I think about how much I actually use any of these skills, simply not purchasing them won't bother me too much. Divine fire is about the only one which could tempt me to hunt up that much essence and I hope that the admin will bow to public pressure and remove it altogether.
I'd much rather rail against the essence penalty for death in enemy territory - which in my mind penalises those who raid occasionally and without a crushing majority rather than those who raid repeatedly as was intended. The XP grind to fund the occasional death in enemy territory bothers me far more than these changes.

I agree with Esano's suggestion.
Posting about ragequitting and throwing very loud and obvious tantrums doesn't really get you far, I feel. Plus it makes you look childish.
I do think that some of the costs need to be reviewed, but until we test out all the abilities, it's hard to make that call.

So basically, you want to take 19 power with a total of 245 weight down to 13 powers with a total of 165 weight? And remember that zap is two of the heavier choices, 30 and 35 weight, and you only need one... Meaning you either have to choose 15 or 20 out of 100 weight or 50 out of 100 weight.
Razenth2010-08-10 01:08:04
If it makes any of you on the not-Glom side feel any better, I'm not sure Urazial can afford divinefire without an essence infusion.

How long until we see essence purchasable with credits?
Essence is easy -- it's supernumerary weight that they'll have to think about whether to sell. (Just like how you can buy more inherents with credits for your beasts -- now we're our own beasts!) It does feel like a heck of a kick in the gut that what demigods had yesterday adds to 180 and we can't have more than 50. (Who the heck is going to blow 2/5 of their supernumerary for Seek? I think I used it like three times in my life.)

DivineFire for hunting was always fine. The problems with it are all about raiding and bypassing defenses. While "delete divinefire" is probably the easiest solution, "make divinefire not work in enemy territory" would be most of the problem fixed, and other solutions have been proposed. I am also befuddled at how the one thing whose consensus was so totally rock-solid got left out, though. This just made it worse: the inane kick-and-run raiders will buy it, but the people they harass won't be able to afford it to use to defend against them. At least the system's in place for them to make a new DivineFire-that's-no-good-for-raiding at a more reasonable cost. But I don't know if I expect they will, given that somehow divinefire eluded notice.

No, it really wasn't "the same handful of people," it was really pretty much everyone, regardless of affiliation. That happens so rarely it should really jump out at you.

Pretty much this. As a non-demi the set up looks cool. Now then, if demis are saying these are very high prices I'm going to believe them. Cool abilities+high prices just means the prices might need to be adjusted. Sooooo make suggestions. The essence shop is something a lot of people wanted.
Razenth2010-08-10 01:10:38
ChoiceZap is actually a very good candidate for an ephemeral btw. 500k is fairly doable.

Just wondering, how much essence does influencing/bashing typically get you, in say a 1 hour stay on Astral? Are there other things that can get you essence, like quests and offering esteem?
It also looks like Ascendants have access to over 30 different powers and Demigods have a third of that, while the former only makes up a small percentage of the playerbase, endgame or not.
