2) Have Avatar add extra weight for demigods

Real life eyetwitch upon reading this line. Avatars are already pretty great, and there is a decisive difference in how willing some gods are to having multiple avatars compared to others. I think they should be allowed this freedom if they so choose, and the general pbase should not have more incentive than they already have to try and pressure for Avatar and the powers that come with it.

Though, I guess if the gods are cool with coding it in, that's their choice.

Thanks! We had a lot of frustrations pop up but we chugged along.

Can certainly consider adding more exits. Feel free to suggest some! I'm sure there will be some feelings about wanting to make sure they're not impeding upon the territory of prisms/cubixes/bubblixes, so keep that in mind!

My only concern with the 'hold a domoth you can select one of its powers' would be that people will come to view absolving as 'griefing' - "I just spent 80m essence on having another trade slot, then Xenthos dissolved my domoth!" or "I JUST got the domoth and bought Destruction and it went free on Estar 1st! Bull***! I want my essence back!" so barring some brilliant suggestion, I think that'd just be a croc pond to stick our hands into.

Ah yes, the bloody griefers!! Well perhaps if you hold a domoth you can choose one of the powers to use but it only takes up a weight, with no added essence cost associated with it. That way if you're "griefed by Xenthos" you don't really lose anything but the power.

That's why I suggested taking them away from Ascendants and only letting demigods be them. The amount of players becoming Avatars wouldn't change. You would still need to work hard to convince your god that you deserve to be one. If you fit the bill, I highly doubt a player would be denied it.

Ascendants need to be able to become avatars, or we're making people pick between being an Ascendant or having a cult (which I don't think is fair - any new ascendants who have already bought Veneration would be able to keep it, but old ones wouldn't be given the opportunity?).

There's actually some (pretty minor) perks for gods involving ascendance and avatar-hood/cults.

Anybody spending 80mil on power that was going to be temporary in the first place and could be lost in that way is just BEGGING to be griefed, why not let them just get the least powerful/cheapest one for free? Just a little free sample of the cool kid stuff.

Well, I really don't know how else I can stress that we're open to suggestions for some new toppings for your hot dogs. Maybe we can look at you guys selling a metaphorical hamburger or chili dog. Maybe ice cream? We took something fully developed (Ascendance skillset) away, so we replaced it with something else that was fully developed (ascendant powers). I'm aware demigods feel 'shafted', but that's not really how we were looking at it - instead we gave you guys the shop, and were hoping for some ideas for some abilities beyond what had already been suggested. Instead, we're just getting some complaints, 'you've ignored us!', and all I can say is, 'No, we haven't. We're listening for some suggestions. We're trying to come up with some more. The alternative was sitting on this longer, and I don't think anyone really wanted that.'

Please! Give us some suggestions, even if they serve as nothing more than a jumping off point. It's your shop! It's got a pretty blank slate. Let's see what we can stock in it. Let's get you guys bus tickets, because I'm really tired of wiping hot dog vendors off the front of Estarra's magic school bus.

Eventru, I'm going to preface this with the fact that you are in fact awesome. I've thought evil things in regards to your entrance messages and your magic colour of text, but you work insanely hard and are awesome.

Now then, no one has said that they got ignored. I think anyone who felt like they got ignored is an idiot, you guys did something with the idea of making everyone happy. General consensus is that the shop is awesome. The shop is cool. OMG SECOND TRADE SKILL. AJKDFS CULT SKILLS. That was pretty much everyone's initial reaction. The second reaction was "goddamnitsomuch I can't touch most of these and what I did have is now in the super awesome glass case.". Most of the complaints you've gotten are because it is awesome and cool. Its just almost all out of reach for more then half of the game. People want more hot dog toppings. The hot dog toppings are just out of reach. And I want to stress that point because if the admin think people are just bitter and complaining to complain then I know we won't see things change. That couldn't be further from the truth. People like the shop and want to see more in it. They just also want to touch it.

I'm just going to point out that the huge feeling of betrayal you're seeing as a result of your "demishop" implementation isn't just because it feels like Ascendants got all the cool stuff.

It's because Demigods didn't -get- a Demishop. They got stripped of what made them Demigods and told they were expected to spend their time and effort to get back a fraction of what they had, and nothing more.

It's buying a hotel room, and after spending a night there, having the furniture taken away from you and told you paid for the room, not the bed.

Ascendants could still have Veneration(if that works better for you guys). They just wouldn't be an Avatar, and they wouldn't get extra weights. This could be explained ICly in a few different ways. For example, an Ascendant's spark is too concentrated and individualistic to properly blend with their patron's or something.

Edit: I'm assuming Veneration isn't the actual Avatar stuff already. If it is, then disregard.

You have set your zap message to: You point an imperious finger in the direction of TARGET. The wind picks up and the clouds blacken ominously as lightning flashes in the distance.

You have set your zap message to: Murmuring TARGET's name, you draw a symbol at the ground with a finger. The lines fill with brilliant green lightning, which crackles dangerously.

You have set your zap message to: You clench your first, a bubbling riot of chaotic energies converging at your call. With a scowl, you thrust your fist out, sending a searing conflux of shifting colour toward TARGET.

You have set your zap message to: You playfully purse your lips, blowing a stream of large, multicoloured bubbles that drift off, bound for TARGET.

You have set your zap message to: You spread your arms wide and splay your fingers purposefully. Bringing them slowly together, complex fractals of brilliant light zip and bob at precise angles at your fingertips. With a sly smile, you release their energies, sending the fractals blazing toward TARGET.

You have set your zap message to: You trace an intricate mandala in the air, ablaze with silvery light. Placing your palm against the floating display, you murmur the name of TARGET. A sudden burst of harmonic energy discharges from the mandala, arcing toward its target.

You have set your zap message to: You close your eyes and conjure a ball of multicoloured lightning between your palms. With a quick flick, you send the bolts arcing toward TARGET.

You have set your zap message to: As you wave your hands in a mesmerising pattern, beautific music and the soft crackle of lightning fills the air. The bolts abruptly dissipate as you sing the name of TARGET.

You have set your zap message to: Moving quickly, you trace complex equations into the air, the lines glowing with brilliant white lightning. With a final flourish of your hand, they leap into the sky toward TARGET.

You have set your zap message to: You scribble TARGET's name upon a piece of square parchment, then throw it to the ground. A bolt of lightning erupts from the paper and surges into the sky.

You have set your zap message to: Adopting a stern frown, you clap your hands together sharply, barking out the name of TARGET. Coruscating tendrils of lightning erupt from the point of impact, lancing out in the echo of the sharp reverberation.

You have set your zap message to: Reaching out to the Domothean energies of Justice, you focus upon TARGET. Naming each of his transgressions under your breath, a saw-edged disk of blinding albescent light materialises in the sky above, striking at a distant point for each misdeed.

You have set your zap message to: You clench your fists and focus your energy, and a sword of pure red lightning materialises in your hands. You raise it above your head, sending bolts racing toward TARGET.

You have set your zap message to: You stamp your foot upon the ground and cross your arms over your chest, fists clenched. In the distance, drums begin to beat, and forks of red lightning spiral toward TARGET.

You have set your zap message to: Smiling brightly, you draw the ambient light into your cupped hands, where it glows with a renewed golden brilliance. Raising it upon your palm, you cast the globe of radiance out toward TARGET, a fading luminescence marking its path.

You have set your zap message to: You raise your hand benevolently, calling out the name of TARGET. Brilliant ribbons of pure white light manifest at your summons, lancing out to strike in the distance with a bright strain of music.

You have set your zap message to: Envisioning TARGET, you grasp at the air with a clenched fist. The wailing of souls fills the firmament as a bolt of black lightning lances toward your target.

You have set your zap message to: A deathly chill rises from the ground to surround you as you chant the name of TARGET. The air hums with power as electricity gathers, then releases as a bolt of ice blue lightning.

Thanks! Yea, I know the greater portion of the complaints are that we gave everything to Ascendants and left demigods with the gift shop at the local 7/11. As I've tried to stress, the Ascendants got the Ascendant stuff, cults got cult stuff, and now we're free to look at adding more stuff for demigods. I, at least, haven't came into it with the opinion of 'Here's your finished product! Nothing else ever again! Enjoy! 18% was included on your bill. <3', and instead have rolled out what will probably be the extent of the Ascendant stuff along with the Veneration skillset (which Lorina and Faragan have been playing about with, and so far they seem to be liking what little they have at the moment, so hopefully once other cults start forming other people can enjoy them!), which, once the rest of the abilities are done, is probably a pretty 'done' project too, as far as coding is concerned.

For demigods though, I don't think anyone wants to say, 'This is it, enjoy!' - I think we want to add some stuff to it, fill it out, give them/you some great options to play around with and see how things settle and, over time, we may add in more stuff. Maybe when we see Nexus Worlds return there might be some benefits slipped in for demigods, like faster (I don't know, something), or harder (something else), or stronger (that other thing). Maybe we can get those guys from Youtube to come explain it to the daft punk song. Mind, this is just an example.

Anyways, that's how I view it! A system with potential. smile.gif

Edit: And Veneration is Avatar-only, Aicuthi (sp?)

So much bitching.

You guys are asking and whining for this demigod essence shop, but it's ALREADY HERE. It's just in the shadows and out of the spotlight cause as posted in the announce, it's being implemented over the next few days, a.k.a veneration. A whole skillset accessible to avatars. Avatars which are accessible to every demigod. SOmething every demigod can EARN. Alternatively, you can even just join a cult and EVERY CULT MEMBER CAN USE THE POWERS (maybe just every demi)

Second tradeskill custom messages, veneration. The second tradeskill is something that 3 people paid over 2000 credits for. That many others would have paid up to 2000 credits for and over 1000 for.

My ideas, which I posted for demigod powers, were an extra +1 stat buyables leading to a possible total of +2 if you buy both +1's. (so back to original demi god levels)

also buyable regeneration (same back to original demigod levels).
Unknown2010-08-11 01:02:31
You keep talking about how you are listening to suggestions and you have plans to add a lot more powers. What most of us are ACTUALLY saying, however, is that the cost for any single power currently available IS TOO HIGH. dry.gif

Everyone can, yes. Some are leader only (I can only think of two off-hand), and others might require multiple people present (whereas the cult leader can cast it alone).

I just want to stress they do stack! As does the beauty one. Meaning those three people can have four tradeskill slots.

I like the idea someone had of seperating RP/Combat powers into different weight categories, so you can have a certain number of Combat powers and a certain number of Roleplaying ones. Having them be equivalent in this way just mechanically enforces the stereotype that combatants can't RP, and shafts combatants who do both, since they'll have to stick to the purely functional powers to stay (or at least feel like they're staying) competitive.

I very much like this idea, even considering historically the divide between "RP" and "combat" ability always ends up being blurrier than we expected (heck, we have an emote balance specifically to make sure emotes, the ultimate RP command, aren't a combat ability), but even so, this is definitely a very good idea.
Krellan2010-08-11 01:43:47
i know they stack. I'm not complaining. I would actually love 3 trade skills especially since the 3rd would only cost me 10 weight. I'm saying that everyone has been asking for second trade skill and you guys gave it to them. Literally exactly what they wanted, maybe not for the amount of effort they wanted to put in for it. Or maybe they expected to be able to just purchase it like with credits cause that can be easier. But it's there. and people pay like crazy for it so it's not exactly as invaluable as others imply when they say all demi's got was second trade skill. Cause let's be real, that's on par of the destruction, aegis, fearaura levels in terms of utility, pk potential, and awesomeness.

That being said, the demigod idea thread is growning and has a lot of good suggestions. So everyone should focus there about demi ideas and then we'll reduce complaints to just hey give me back my essence you bastard.

No seriously, give me back 80 million along with the rest of the ascendants.
Ixion2010-08-11 01:45:52
I find it hilarious that those with the most essence (minus a small expenditure from Lendren) are not spending a penny's worth on any of the powers, nor plan to anytime soon. laugh.gif
Krellan2010-08-11 02:02:42
personally i think we should have free powers for a week keep the weights. This is very similar to the racial redux changes that happened. we had a week or two of free reincarnations. This way everyone can experiment with powers. You would have to turn off temp powers command.

Really everyone is not buying it cause we can very clearly see that the prices are out of whack. The weights and the system are things that can be tested cause they don't affect us as much. But say spending 35 million essence (35 hours at BEST that was used by the admin's for a baseline essence gain rate) to TEST a skill sucks.

We were not expected to buy a dagger of reincarnation to test the racial changes for the admin. And buying credits is easier than grabbing 35 million essence (up to 80 million)
