Onagaku, roll on Wyrmrest Accord or Moon Guard if you want to RP.

And Druids are actually going to get buffed in Cata. Tree-form is going to be wiped and incorporated into mainline caster form for restos, if ghost is to be believed.

Dear everyone in this thread,

I hate you all. Because of you, I've been forced to download the World of Warcraft trial, and give it another shot.

The only thing that has ever bugged me about the default interface is that when I'm healing 5mans, my health bar is separate and different looking than every body else's so I forget to look at it sometimes. I don't use any mods at all for raiding or PvP, and have always done just fine. =p

I'm amazed that I remember so many details about the undead starting area.
Ardmore2010-07-27 22:54:23
Since they're re-doing all the starting areas for the expansion I'll wait 'til it's released to start playing again. I don't really want to play a DK any more, and I really miss my old (and hacked!) shadow priest.

...they're smart enough to make you not require the new expansion to get the new starting zones, right? The whole reason for them being re-vamped is for more customers.

New Azeroth is for everyone. Worgen, Goblin, and 80+ zones are Cataclysm only, if it's anything at all like BC/WotLK.

Good. Blizzard makes silly mistakes sometimes, I was sure this wouldn't be one of them.

Yea the face lift is for the whole game, not just the expac. So if there's anything you want to see and are unsure if its going to change I'd see it/do it now. The chances of it being changed/revamped in some way is very likely.

Still need to finish my pally tier2. Sucks the only people who do BWL are pallies looking for t2, so you've 20 pallies rolling one drop, and that's if you're lucky. sad.gif

Can't solo Vael, or probably Chromaggus.

I'm so glad I quit WoW. Lusternia is much, much more fun happy.gif . I may go back to play again, but I'm sure it'll be just as short-lived as my previous escapades, lasting only a few months until I get bored with the meaninglessness it all.

It's a shame that no one has yet to create a good enough graphical MMO to capture every aspect that other games specialize in. I suppose, though, that that's just how it works - you can't have a jack of all trades that is especially good at everything. IRE MUDs are amazing at in-depth RP and combat mechanics - unbeatable if you were to ask me - but obviously, they fall short in the graphics, and for good reason. But sometimes you want to see your character, so you go for a graphical game.

I do have a game that I kept my eye on for quite a while, it was introduced as a sandbox-MMO. I played it early in beta and it just released a month or so ago. Beta didn't have much to show for it, but I don't think it should've been in beta. Nowadays, it looks like it's a lot more fun. The only problem - and this is where WoW has come out on top - is that it requires quite a nice machine to run it. It's probably geared more for the PvPer, but if you'd like to check it out it's Mortal Online (found at mortalonline.com).

Concerning the WoW jargon: I agree, it's pretty complicated. But, having just come to this game, I was completely lost in anything said on the forums - especially by the hardcore pkers. Anything that was said in any thread I couldn't understand at all because it was all abbreviations and acronyms and what-not. I'm starting to pick it up now though, and I imagine the same happens with any other game for other people as well! Basically, in my post what I said was Druids > any healer except Priests, and Blizzard nerfs everything in turn and it was just Druids' turn this time.

Lusternia is better at in-depth RP -because- it's not graphical. Well, partly that and partly Estarra's A++ tier setting design/writing skills. Trying to RP in WoW feels like RPing in a chatroom with dorky avatars standing there or something.

I already disagree that the combat system is better than graphical MMO's, but I will concede that it's at least possible for the model to be better. On the one hand, you can have stuff like telepathy, telekinesis, fleshcrafting and (sorta) paradigmatics/aeonics that are way easier to portray if you don't have to draw them, but on the other hand being much harder to visualise exact details makes it very hard to implement any kind of deep tactical positioning-based teamplay like GW (or ostensibly WoW arena but I don't know much about that.)

WoW arena is inherently not balanced. GW did it by normalizing armor and levels, same as Lusternia basically does. It's why some PvE players really, really hate arena. I can't think of any way to have escalating rewards that isn't unbalanced by those same rewards.

People have started putting way, WAY too much stock in GS, it makes me cringe.
Shiri2010-07-28 03:44:28
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it just a measurement of the statistics that determine how good your character is at WoW, i.e the numbers that make up your damage, health etc.?

It's a number calculated by this mod based off of your gears item level, ie Gear Score. It can be used as a rough estimate for gear checks. People have just gotten obsessed with it and use it as a sole determining factor for how good you are. Also don't think it checks crap like, do people have the right enchants and gems? And I've seen people choose items that actually have worse stats for them then what they currently have, because it would up their GS with a higher item level.

I've out DPSed people with GS much higher then mine, and been rejected from groups for censor.gif like 10ToC and /ignored because I don't know or give a crap what my GS is.
