Alright, so I figure that someone out there might be able to help me out with this. I can't connect my xbox to my dad's network, neither wirelessly nor via ethernet cable.

My dad's set up is a hub and router. Its a 2wire set up.

Basically, we've done everything possible. Forwarding ports, changing the password type (WEP, WPA, etc.), opening the NAT, et cetera.

If anyone can suggest anything, even if its going over old territory I'd be grateful. Maybe we did something wrong, or missed something. But I'm getting tired of relying on the unsecure Linksys for my live connection since I tend to disconnect a lot and lately its been going off the grid so to speak.

Did the same setup ever work? Can you see your xbox on the network from another computer, even if the xbox says its not connected? Any indication at all that it might be kind of connected, or do you get absolutely nothing? Any chance the wire is bad? Anything else able to connect wirelessly?

The network doesn't seem to see the xbox when its wirelessly, and when its connect via ethernet it just says "inactive." No, I can't see it from another computer. I use to be able to connect with my computer to his network but after it got fried I've had to connect via a ethernet cable (I think its because my wireless isn't set up and we haven't been bothered to do it again). The wire isn't bad, it is the one I'm using to connect my computer with actually.

I haven't been able to connect to my dad's network from the get go, as I got the xbox shortly after I moved in with him. I haven't been able to try connecting to another network, like my mom's, because of that. Also, strangely enough we tried the ethernet cable again and it worked. Dad thinks well just buy another hub so both xbox and computer can connect.
