The point of this thread is not to discuss the merits or downsides of the Demigod changes, but to offer ideas for powers. Especially more Demigod powers, as there could be a few more out there!
To start:
Idea: Having a Seal should allow you to get one of the powers associated with that Domoth. Demigods would also be able to do this, as they earned the Seal and the Seal allows the purchase of one power.
Reasoning: True Ascendants get all three powers associated with their Domoth. Thus, this won't really step on their toes; but it is a neat perk!

How about ideas for powers for those of us without seals?

Sure, that's also what the thread is for. If you have ideas, put 'em here!

I definitely agree with this, and was going to bring it up myself after the rave died down a bit. As for Demi powers, I'd love to see some more, but I don't have the imagination to think of them
Razenth2010-08-10 00:50:09
I don't want to dream of new powers when I have barely enough space/essence to get the ones I already want.

Then please take that to the other thread; this one is for ideas. There is already a thread for griping!

Thinking of powers that don't imbalance (or just to avoid feeding the "you-have-to-be-demigod-for-combat" meme) is really hard!!! We're certainly open to suggestions though!

Seals are already free cubixes, free circlets, and big boosts for domoth holding. I really don't see that they should also get more perks here. (And I would feel the same way if I had one, or I will feel the same way after I finally have one.)
I'd like to suggest a cheaper version of DivineFire which doesn't work in enemy territory, and costs a fair whack less. That'd be easy to code since it's just a minor variant on something already in, and would take a lot of the sting out of both the "you can't afford a third of what you had yesterday" issue, and the "divinefire was supposed to be nerfed" issue.

For me, any DivineFire that allows me to summon it if I happen to get jumped while harvesting is worth buying. Kinda.

The seal provides no boost for Domoth-holding if you're an Ascendant excepting that it lets you hold that Domoth along with others; the timing thing is voided simply by being an Ascendant, unfortunately.
It's also a fraction of the perk of having the medallion & Ascendant & 3 Free Domoth Powers, so I don't think it's a huge issue if people with a Seal are able to get one power related to that Domoth.
Also, a cheaper but more limited DF is not a bad idea IMO.

My idea is an ability to bestow a demidivine favor (at essence cost of course), You can pick one of the endowments to favor with and for some essence cost you can give it to another player for X amount of time (a day, an hour?), and you're able to give it to as many as you want at a given moment - essence permitting. It won't stack with other endowments of the same type (you can't have 2 con endowments from different players, as an example, but you could have a con and a dex endowment).

No... Dear gods, no. Not for balance purposes, but "some" orgs would see it as an obvious thing that Demis etc. should demifavour people by request. So it's more of a personal "no".

Support Xenthos idea (and I would support it if I didn't have a seal, or if I ever lose my seal)
Unknown2010-08-10 01:40:15
What I'd like is for POWERS INFO (power) to list the cost of the ability in usage too, like how divinefire was 10k essence per use, seek was 250, etc.

That's what zap is for
Though really, if you don't want to have to give it away, don't use one of your power slots to take the ability.

No more free powers for special snowflakes. The gaps involved are already disheartening enough for us unwashed masses.
As for what I'd like to see?
-Summon resist
-Flight (though I'd pass on it myself, too trivial for 50 weight even if it was very low cost)
-damage booster
...but then again, unless these were 10 weight or less, I'd be S.O.L based on what I've determined I need. So meh.

Change planarquickening to fast teleport artie and you have a skill worth buying.

I like planar quickening - it halves the time!
Not opposed to a new one that functions in a manner similar to the teleport artifact, though.
Keep them coming, for sure!
Gregori2010-08-10 03:30:50
Remove the weights on RP only powers. Or make separate weight system for those. So you have X amount of combat weight and X amount of Rp weight and can buy from each. Restricting people based on You can roleplay or you can pk just reinforces (puts the admin seal of approval on) the player mindset that if you are one you are not the other.
Ssaliss2010-08-10 03:30:56
The problem with planar quickening is that... well, gates aren't woven that much. At least not enough to warrant a demi-power to quicken it.
