More like Hallifax is probably going to be the ones who create the atomic bomb and blow everyone up. so we're all screwed either way.
"So...what's this do?"
"Not sure. I think it might blow the world up."
"Let's do it.....For Science!"

Please, the science Hallifax practices is more akin to Ghost Hunter pseudo science. Can't create anything tangible when you study phenomena that can't even be verified or tested.

I like this thread. Its where all the people who only play half of the game act superior.
And why does the caste system have to be tied to city ranks? And that's a serious question. Give favours for the sake of mechanics and reward and find other ways to invoke the castes.

Someone had that idea a long time ago and was ignored.

From an OOC point of view, that's true. ICly, however, you're dead wrong! You're welcome to "so fix it," though.

I don't think anyone would want that much math involved.

My only problem with combat CFs in Halli is the sheer randomness of who does and does get on the favour list. Getting entirely overlooked in at least two revolts and several raid defenses...
Note: This is an OOC annoyance, not an IC annoyance. Attention-whoring and favour-seeking for one's self IC is fairly annoying in a general sense, and doubly so in the city of "the individual is unimportant, all power to the Collective".

If you get overlooked, tell someone and you'll be added to the list! It's not hard.

It'd be interesting to see things like combatants only allowed on the other planes for defense, Having the city library broken up by people's roles. Only the scientists and artists could see the books on science and art. Power rations could be effected by caste instead of rank. Hell, you could even give different tasks for city favours based on what caste someone is in.
And I realize some of those might be lame ideas but it'd solve this pretty silly problem. Hallifax's RP have no high ground in being proud at spurning half of the game in the same way they feel like crap when they think combatants are giving them the middle finger.

Oh, Geb is actually. It is just that he is not wasting his time discussing the real sciences of Harmonics and Aeonics with quacks.

Hallifax needs more people who can follow directions and less "leaders".
The ego is strong with many Hallifaxians, and that is what hinders progress, everyone wants to be recognized as the hero of the day.

Fighters are rewarded though. They're limited to CR4 sure, but they should be rewarded. If they aren't, then make it known to a higher up. If city rank reward isn't enough, then that's a different and general problem.

No surprise. Much like how most people want to be the snooty noble, and not the pauper tending the former's needs in a certain other org.

or put differently, Hallifax needs a leader.
It may be a bit mean but the mark of a true leader is to inspire what you say here.
(And before people take this as an insult, I am no leader either)
Kazban2010-08-09 20:07:36
Hence why I put "leader" in quotations. I do not see many designated leaders, only a mild facade of leadership based on Caste.
I am no leader, I aspire to be one day be one. I however have much to learn and accomplish before that.
My hunger for greatness can stay on the back burner for a long time. Thats how mistakes happen with elections afterall.

Hmm even though we have a severe caste system, I haven't seen people putting down others IG. Most of the citizens can be considered to be in 'upper castes' anyway, and the only servants I see are NPCs.
