Sure, and there's a thousand arguments to be had in 'they have it and I don't', and it's not one I want to get into. Sorry.
But this argument is not, "They have it and I don't."
This argument is, "We all have it and now it's being taken away from half of us but not the other half."

What happens to the POWERS if you lose demigod? I would hope you don't have to reinvest.
I think you're supposed to lose your purchases and need to reinvest.
Can always ask Alacardael when he gets demi back.

Would be nice to get confirmation, but I'm not so sure. I am, however, quite sure Serenwilde has had some inner squabbling over people not being able to resurgem before corpse destruction, so if it does work that way, would be good for them to know.
As far as I remember Serenwilde -used- to get this through the altar but it was removed on a construct overhaul because they were deemed to powerful.
(Funny enough CHELP CONSTRUCTS in Serenwilde still shows as last edited by Anisu)

Yeah. I think that happened too.
Furien2010-08-12 23:10:00
I think the soul resurgem was just a construct benefit that was later removed in the overall toning-down of constructs.

So 1/3rd (Celest and Hallifax) gets to keep it, then.
I don't know, I'm just of the opinion that it should still survive / be an option. Whether it be Breath of Life allowing you to soulrez for increased cost-per-cast, or something else (for a body-rez only that thing is very heftily priced in terms of weighting / essence, btw, so it would be nice for it to be part of that), I imagine pretty much everyone would be grateful. Long as it doesn't just 'go away'.

Also, veneration costs should be looked at. Especially given that Ascendants lost 2/3 essence for investing in a similar skill, the motivation to invest a large amount of essence just to have it be all for-not is a deterrence. I was excited for the cult things, but the 70mil cost is probably going to take me 6 months to obtain, and then throw in additional costs for learning the skills.... And custom learning messages aren't worth a huge delay, specially when people are going to be AFK when learning anyway.
Two questions:
Can we be inter-"cult"ural? (multiple people in the same cult and even cult leaders in other cults?)
What happens to the POWERS if you lose demigod? I would hope you don't have to reinvest.

I don't foresee the costs changing, honestly. And I was more or less joking regarding the custom learning messages. The length of time was a carry over from the old cults. I left a lot of the really basic underbelly unchanged, simply because I applied a 'ain't broke, don't fix it' mentality where I could. I'm not really opposed to shortening the time. I'm more or less pulling legs on it, honestly.
No, you cannot be in more than one cult, and no, you cannot be a cult leader in another cult. Would take a lot of work to make that viable, and I'm not really sure it's something we would want to be doable ("Man, I'm out of essence. EVERYONE SWITCH OVER TO TOM'S CULT!").
I don't know on the last one. I presume you lose them all. Makes sense to me.
Edit: Re: Resurgem not being a plane-wide soul rezz, I'd not noticed it being changed. I do seem to remember that (and it being made so they can rezz anyone for 10p), though, the more I think about it.
Unknown2010-08-12 23:22:27
Since Veneration doesn't eat up any weight, I think it'll be hard to negotiate it, unlike the more basic selections.
It does look rather daunting, though.

Kiradawea2010-08-12 23:23:32
I think that Resurgem is a plane-wide soul-rezz, as long as the body is still out there. If not, they could substitute the body of someone else, which was used in conjunction with conglutination. Not sure if it is still like that, but it was so in the past at least.

So wait, what's the deal with cults? Is it an Avatar only thing, or an an Avatar and Ascendant thing, ooor...?

Only Avatars can make one, but it's both for demis and ascendants.
Lehki2010-08-12 23:55:14
Currently resurgem will revive somebody at the coven if their body still exists on the same plane. You can not use a substitute body.

Not much of a loss there... I am actually intrigued. Mmm, essence.
Kiradawea2010-08-13 00:05:42
Wait, there's a 10% transfer decay on essence from the Cult Leader's personal reserve to the Cult Pool?
Lorina2010-08-13 00:08:11
Yeah, I just dumped a million into the cult pool and 900k went in! I think overall, using cult essence can be better for learning veneration. I mean, it feels like more of a group effort. They just provide like 10% and you cover the other 90%! hahaha

The generic essence imbue is a 50% loss. I'd actually be willing to dump a ton of essence in with this kind of conversion. I was not all that enthused by the prospect, and now I am.

Hm. Maybe I should change it back. If Xenthos isn't complaining, my dinner just won't taste the same.
