So... I've got my astrology module for Mudlet nearly completed. It shows nativities as what afflictions the planetary rays give, shows what effects the zodiac rays could give, and shows how the various zodiac spheres are affected by the various alignments, etc.
I used the +/- chart from the wiki skill description to create all of this, and the numbers all test out quite nicely. The only thing is... I have no idea what a +3 positive effect on the mana cost actually -means-. Does anyone have any hard numbers on this, or should I simply leave it with the modifier numbers so people can get the general 'feel' for the cost of the spheres?
Any and all help is appreciated.

I don't really have hard numbers but because of Papaxi's random effect I'd just leave the modifiers. The hard numbers you get are never going to be 100% exact.
And I do know that a +1 mana appears to cost 180 mana.

I suppose Papaxi's bent on things could be an interesting conundrum. Would require a rather large sample size. I may have to begin collecting said sample and see if I can boil hard numbers, even taking papaxi into account.
Though I may just go ahead and leave it with the modifiers. At least I can tell at a glance about what the effects will be.

Incidentally, if anyone comes to understand that stuff better, please tell me what you learn so I can update the wiki to be clearer.

The numbers I've gathered are from the Astrology script I made up myself and I only ever measured the effects and ranges of three statistics: Sun, Moon and Aapek. Sun determines whether the sphere is positive or negative, Moon determines the duration of the sphere, and Aapek determines the power cost. Since I personally didn't care about Eroee (mana cost), Sidiak (willpower cost), and Tarox (endurance cost), I never bothered to measure them. And since Papaxi is Papaxi, the best you can do is guess whether it'll be a good buff or a negative buff to one or more of the aspects of casting a sphere.
If Sun is conjunct, semisextile, sextile or trine, that means the sphere is going to give a positive benefit. Conjunct will render a 20% positive boost, trine will give a 15% positive boost, sextile will give a 10% positive boost, and semisextile will give a 5% positive boost.
If Sun is quincunx, square or opposite, that means the sphere is going to give a negative curse. Quincunx will give a 5% negative curse, square will give a 10% negative curse and opposite will give a 15% negative curse.
Of course, the type of curse is depending on the sign you looked in. A Sun in blah which is sextile Volcano will give a 10% fire damage reduction, whereas if Sun in blah were opposite Volcano, you'd get a 15% weakness to fire damage.
The Moon determines how long a sphere will last. Conjunct will render an 80 minute long sphere, trine will give 75 minutes, sextile 70 minutes, semisextile 65 minutes, quincunx 55 minutes, square 50 minutes, and opposite 45 minutes. Astrologers casting the sphere on themselves get double the duration as a skill buff, and, depending on Papaxi, can either get halved, doubled further, or just reduced down to 1 minute, but the above is the norm.
Aapek determines the power cost of the sphere, with it only being important if Aapek is in one of the three negative positions. Aapek being quincunx will cost 1p, square will cost 2p and opposite will cost 3p. For all the positive positions, Aapek is 0p and thus, the sphere is power free to cast. Unless you get Papaxiowned, anyway.

Awesome, thanks. I'll try to get that incorporated soon. I suppose the endurance and willpower costs aren't such a big deal, but I'd have thought mana could be, with mana based instas. I may still try to gather more solid numbers on all the rest of the effects, if for no other reason than so that it's known.
