Any chance breath of life could see an increase in supernumerary (and ephemeral) cost? Being that it's one of the generally-available ranged soul-resses (the other being an amulet of resurrection, I believe?) it seems like it's too cheap for its own good. Perhaps bump it up to 40 points?
As much as I love it and don't want to see its cost increase, I do think it'd be better at 40 weight (it's definitely more useful than Aegis!). Aegis still needs to drop to 30-35.

I thought it was supposed to change to require the body on hand?

Oh yeah. As I understand it Breath of Life wasn't intended to be an infinite range soul rez originally. Right now it's pretty amazing.

We argued against that pretty vocally, because at that point it's not even worth what it currently costs (or even a fraction of what it costs). That would make the skill pretty much completely useless. So they left it.
Nydekion2010-09-12 21:13:18
Alternatively, it could work like old avatar ress did. Namely, 250k essence cost per use and limited to once an in-game month.
Eventru2010-09-12 21:13:40
It does require same-room. Not sure about it being a soul rezz off-hand. We'll look at it. I know it's bugged, though.
Furien2010-09-12 21:14:37
But its current incarnation is so nice.
Especially when your organization doesn't have a single org-based corpse destruction skill for no readily explainable reason, while your coded opposite pretty much triggers every death to eat a corpse. :/

That one was 10,000,000 essence total spent for that perk, plus a number of others.
I think that 250k essence per use, on top of the amount spent to buy it now (and weighting on top of that), is pretty darned high. Could leave it at the 35k cost and limit it to once per month, perhaps (at this point I can assure you that the incrementing cost does limit it though).

No it doesn't.
It was bought because it didn't.

It definitely doesn't require same room at the moment. And I know that the rezz message was changed from what is was originally, it sounds like it's supposed to be ranged now.

Definitely not.

It was bought because it didn't.
Or, for some of us, bought because it didn't need a body at the very least.
Rangeless is a pretty sexy perk though.

Game-wide soul rezz is pretty obviously a bug... Especially at 35k a pop. Maybe at 15m a pop....

It has an incrementing cost, so is not 35k a pop!
It also costs way more than 15 million to buy it and be able to use it...
If you want to restrict it to same-room, fine, I guess. But I'd like to see the incrementing cost go away in that case.
Revan2010-09-12 21:22:56
Gamewide soulrez was actually 250k a pop before it got removed for absolutely no real good reason

Right. Which is why I think it existing the way it does is fine, since there's a much larger up-front cost as well as it taking up weight points. I can see it taking a couple more weight points with it the way it does, but beyond that the costs are good.
Eventru2010-09-12 21:26:58
I'm skeptical avatar rezz was game-wide soul rezz. If it was, well. Sounds like a bug to me. Particularly when you compare it to existing rezz skills (only class with soulrezz have high costs, be it setup or at-the-moment ).
(Not that it matters, since it's gone)

It was, though. That's why it cost 250k essence per use.
However, it cost a lot less up-front and didn't take up weights.
No clue what the heck you'd expect it to do for that cost if not what it did. It even had the same hand-wave gesture and message as when a God rezzed you. :/
Nydekion2010-09-12 21:46:53
Yeah, avatar soul ress was always ranged and didn't require losing defenses, etc. (That's why we complained about sacraments sacrifice all those years as being inferior. )

I will threat bodily harm if someone tries to alter Breath of Life to requiring a body or to have to be at the soul to do it. I'm of the firm opinion that unless it's hurting someone (which the skill isn't), I don't see a problem with it. Since the essence and experience loss is already determined at the moment of death as opposed to what happens after it, making the skill see less use than it is is just counterproductive in terms of incentives.
I have no problem with reviewing Aegis to get cheaper, and I've already been plenty vocal about how useless Nature Harvest is. At this point in time, I'd rather just make Harvest into something I posted up weeks ago now, or just into a simple area-wide nature growth/guard. I also agree that Knowledge Awareness shouldn't have Seek as a pre-req since it's already a pretty hefty cost just to scry someone.
I also want to know what happens to my 80mil that I lost for no reason.
