Celestine Offense

I've been a healing celestine ever since I started playing, I AM NOT going to change class or tertiary. I'm looking for suggestions from people for viable tactics in single combat.

Currently my only semi-successful tactic in a one-on-one fight is to invest bleeding in my angel and wrath, order her to attack and spam symbol evoke bleeding and hope I can stack enough bleeding to force my opponent to clot their mana down so I can absolve them (if I get lucky). or alternatively they would bleed to death (rare).

I'll emphasize again that I'm NOT changing class or tertiary. Tarot or astrology are not going to happen for me. Do not bother posting here to say "don't pick healing" even though I bet someone will do so anyway.

Number of people who've told me to drop healing so far: 6

EDIT: Here is the list of celestine investments for angels.

You have the following pledges and investible powers:
Japhiel, Illuminator of Merciful Justice
* Stupidity, amnesia, hallucinations, shyness, weakness
Elohora, Lady of the Eternal Light
* Addiction, paralysis, powersink, luminous, kneel
Shakiniel, Defender of the Dawning Hope
* Paranoia, anorexia, dementia, hypochondria, claustrophobia
Methrenton, Crusader of the Holy Flame
* Sensitivity, bleeding, justice, recklessness, flame
Raziela the Loving Radiance
* Vapors, pacifism, vestiphobia, love, clumsiness

Whatever happened to going for inquisition. At least spam heretic to scare them.
Shaddus2010-09-22 04:07:16
Don't pick he... never mind.

What do your guild skills look like?

Inquisition alone does not kill. and my damage is not nearly strong enough to kill someone. Tried this earlier today against Miciah. inquisitioned him while standing in hallowedground (which is supposed to make him take more damage) and his health never dropped below 3000

Tri-trans. I am a demigoddess you know.. i'm just coming to a point now where I really want to learn how to actualy kill people alone.

Bedevil and aurawarp are great skills too, do you use those?

You kill people with Tarot. I suggest you go Tarot OP.

very dissapointing skills, if you have ever used them you would know. they have a fairly short duration (about 30 seconds for aurawarp, not sure about bedevil). Aurawarp is somewhat worth using in that it inhibits curing about 60% of the time, but it costs 2 power so it cannot be used in combination with inquisition. bedevil is the most dissapointing skill of all. for 4 power it seems to have little to no affect at all. I've bedeviled people with lots of afflictions on them and even though it's supposed to afflict them with new things when they cure, it seems to only proc sometimes and very often the target ends up being able to cure themselves of everything EXCEPT bedevil (because it can't be cured in the presence of the healer)

I think that I have spoken to you enough times IC for you not to bother posting that...

The answer to the question "how do I fight?" should not be "don't pick healing"
Vadi2010-09-22 04:33:24
why worry about 1v1 when it sounds like your role is a great support one in group combat?
Vadi2010-09-22 04:33:24

It basically is. You have two instas as it stands, but the most common combos I have seen a good Celestine use are inquisition/soulless or blackout/soulless.

I have one idea, though, but not sure how good they would work.

Yeah, had another idea, but I don't see the needed afflict. Could have sworn I saw it before.

My option might be bedevil and your angel with paralysis or something else to stop them from moving and go for judge. All I can really think of at the moment.

Edit: Could I see a list of Celestialism angel afflictions?

First is to give them the aura that strips insomnia and try to time your angel with it somehow, maybe like Shamarah mentioned with timing the demon in the other thread. If you can get them alseep, maybe you can lower their mana or judge them or something. If the current healing report goes through, then this will be much easier/viable.

Second option might be bedevil and your angel with paralysis or something else to stop them from moving and go for judge. All I can really think of at the moment.

Thank you for your suggestions. Unfortunetly the flaw in your first plan is that celestines cannot invest sleep into their angels, which only leaves us to try to use the active 'sleep' attack in cosmic, and unless report 431 goes through this would also be quite impossible due to kafe.

Your second idea is a little off the mark. as bedevil does not prevent curing, it just causes a new affliction to appear when you cure one (sometimes, personally i think it should afflict every time for 4 power and a limited duration) the target would be able to get rid of the paralysis/hinder quite easelly in the 8 second timer and leave the room or even better. just web me.

EDIT: put the list in the original post

Corrected the first one when I looked it up and the second one I meant aurawarp, not bedevil. dry.gif

give neurosis aura for slight mana drain, invest vapors/anorexia, judge behind vapors.
Shaddus2010-09-22 04:49:45
Carcer. ALWAYS carcer.

The main issue I see with blackout/judge is that judge has a second message between the kill and the start.

actualy it's worse then that. judgement has FOUR messages (the fourth being fatal)

Do you have trans Discipline? You need it.

This is all I can really think of for you:

Starcall Wrath
Time angel to 7.9 seconds, pacify.

Heretic -> Infidel
(Stretch these phases out for power regeneration)

Order Angel Attack @target (2x Sensitivity - Methrenton) -> Inquisition (Stack commands and pray that ping war is successful)
(This is assuming Methrenton still has this.

Abjure Quicken

If enemy's race = (sizable fire weakness, low Magic skill) then spam cosmicfire until dead.
If enemy's race = (undead) then spam radiance until dead.
If enemy's race = (anything else) then spam symbol strike until dead.

(You can have your angel wailing on them with whatever from here on out while praying you as a Guardian can damage kill. Good luck. :S )

Not possible. I AM trans discipline. Inquisition is actually impossible to pull off without being skilled enough in discipline to recover 2 power in ~10-15 seconds.
I always have 0 power after inquisition
